One thing I've come to realise about Nintendo fans is that so many of them put a lot of effort into really supporting others with a shared interest. The various Streetpass groups up & down the country are another example of this - even if they haven't got the money the organisers still sink a lot of time and effort into sharing something that they get joy out of.
