Splatoon might be primarily known as a competitive shooter, but since the release of the second game, Nintendo has expanded upon the original concept with its cooperative wave mode Salmon Run. If you do enjoy putting in a shift for Mr. Grizz, you might want to check out the above IGN video.
It's a detailed breakdown of a world-record Salmon Run focused on a group of pro Splatoon 3 players (Brian, Gungee, Marty and Reyko) who were able to gather a whopping 241 golden eggs. What's perhaps even more impressive is the fact it's been done using an online connection - so the team has to factor in latency issues.
If you do want to find some ways to improve your own Salmon Runs, this is well worth a look. For this particular run, the team was playing Sockeye Station on the Hazard Level Max difficulty setting. Throughout the video, you can see the team reaching quotas in just seconds and then going well beyond the wave requirements.

I actually learnt quite a lot from that! Not going to setting any word records any time soon, but letting the Snatchers carry the eggs to the basket is a neat trick, and using the Ink Jet on the Mudmouths is something I hadn’t thought of.

Amazing. Great tips and ideas for sure. Salmon Run is the only mode that keeps me playing Splatoon 3. It’s my favorite co-operative multiplayer mode ever.
Overfishing videos are insane. But yeah, you definitely need to run with a group who know what they’re doing in order to even approach those levels of efficiency. Solo queue is such a gamble.
I’m not surprised it was done at Sockeye Station. That’s my favorite map for its clearly advantageous turf, and the tower in particular is great for sniping Salmonids. Overall, it really does pay to lure bosses to the basket as much as possible, splat Snatchers when they go right near the basket, and know the occurrence bosses’ special weaknesses like the Inkjet or Explosher. I know it’s tempting to go splat long-distance bosses like Stingers and Big Shots but unless there’s too many it’s actually still better to focus more on the regular bosses coming at you.
Salmon Run used to be pretty frustrating for me, and I can still get a crew that seems to be in over their heads even if they have impressive badges. I’m either getting better or I’m getting better crewmates (or both) because now I rarely lose my Eggsecutive VP rank and have a much better time these days. Fighting King Salmonids still feels like a coin toss, though. All I can do is hope I have a weapon that’s good or decent for me and splat the easier bosses I come across. Cohozuna needs to be lured near these easier bosses as much as possible but I think most people still haven’t learned that yet.
@Snatcher What age group and region are you looking for?
I love playing Salmon Run because I am not a competitive player and prefer co-op, but will on occasions play turf war. It really bugs me that they found a way to make Salmon Run not as enjoyable by adding a competitive element to it in Big Run. I tend to play with randoms, and sometimes my brother will join in, so we have little to no chance to get in the higher percentage bracket. I think we only managed the top 50%. You really need to be a team of friends you can communicate with and who have a high skill level to really achieve above 150 eggs in a round. Or be extremely lucky to land in a group of randoms where you all just magically understand each other and what you should do at every second.
They should just set up clear egg number goal posts for Big Run instead of percentages. So people aren't stressing about competing with each other especially against pros and are just aiming to reach the number set.
Also why doesn't Cohozuna drop more scales during Big Run? That is a massive missed opportunity, it takes forever to get enough scales to buy stuff from the Grizzco store, even if you kill Cohozuna every time you see it.
But who am I kidding, all the events in this game is a joke. Take Splatfest, whoever gets the most votes will always win, and this has lead to more and more people waiting until the second day to find out which team is performing the best and then join them so the other two have no chance.
@Dev9417 Oh gosh, that reminds me of one time I went back down to Overachiever due to pushing through the rewards of a bad map and weapon combo. Figured I will get back up easily enough, but no. The next cycle was Sockeye with a great set of weapons, but everyone kept constantly dying and more time was spent resurrecting them than killing the enemies. My score was always 3-5 times higher than everyone else after a wipeout. It was a frustrating cycle that only broke because I had the luck of someone else in a blue suit join the team so with two of us more experienced we were able to make up for inability of the other two and managed to get back to Professional +2. It's one of those strange situations where the game is easier when you hit the higher levels, usually Professional +3.
But having said that, I have bad days sometimes where work is on my mind and I am distracted. I'm sure everyone who has good badges has off days.
@Scrubicius I don’t really care honestly, just people that legit now how to play the game, aka, teamwork.
Man this I impressive, I was happy with my record of 87 for a run until I saw this! 🤣 As others have said though, it's a bit of a gamble as to what kind of team you'll be put with, but so far most people I've been put with seem to know what they're doing. One good tip for the King Salmonids is to use the egg launcher to kill other Boss salmonids with one shot, effectively turning one egg into 3, which saves burning valuable time on them. It also pays to have at least one player with a strong weapon constantly hammering him.
While the run is impressive and may be 100% legit, the RNG is strange. Here's a breakdown:
Wave 1: Low Tide, Fog, maybe one to two Flyfish, zero Stingers, zero Big Shots, tons of Flipper-Floppers and Steel Eels at the basket, numerous ten-egg Goldies at or near the basket.
Wave 2: High Tide, Find the Goldie, left and right gushers almost always seem to have Goldie, Goldie always running optimally to leave huge trails of eggs in front of the basket.
Wave 3: High Tide, Mudmouths, Golden Mudmouth spawns as second Mudmouth, every Mudmouth is convenient to access in High Tide on this map.
It would probably take a Splatoon 3 expert versed in RNG percentages along with a Karl Jobst video to unravel it, but it's worth digging a bit deeper to gauge the veracity of this record.
Even at Eggesecutive +100, people STILL do not use their specials. -_-
