Atari has today announced that pre-orders are now live for Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration, the interactive history collection that features classics from eight different Atari hardware platforms.
As an added bonus, pre-orders from major retailers in North America will bag a digital copy of Gravitar: Recharged at no added cost. Considering Gravitar: Recharged costs $9.99 / £7.99 on its own, we'd say that's a pretty decent little bonus!
Atari has also announced that most major retailers in Europe and Australia will also be offering up either Gravitar: Recharged as a pre-order incentive or another title from the publisher's 'Recharged' line-up, which includes Breakout: Recharged, Yars: Recharged, Asteroids: Recharged, Centipede: Recharged, Missile Command: Recharged, and Black Widow: Recharged.
Retailers in North America include Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Amazon, and GameStop. Over in Europe, your options include Amazon UK, Game.co.uk, Game.es, Gamestop.it, mediamarkt.de, Smyths Toys UK, and Argos UK. Finally, in Australia, EB Games and JB HI-FI will be carrying the title.
Atari is also offering up a Steelbook Edition of the game on Switch, retailing for $49.99. The Standard Edition of the game will cost $39.99 / £31.95.

I look forward to playing Tempest 2000 again. I haven't owned an Atari Jaguar in twenty years, lol.
I'm very interested in this collection anyway, but the free download just convinced me to preorder. I was waiting for a sale on Gravitar Recharged; this is better. I'm still disappointed that Paperboy is not included...

Hot damn! I’ve been waiting for this to go up for preorders, and I was curious to try some of those Recharged games. Gravitar makes nice enticement!
Pre-ordered, always love extensive retro game collections, this one in particular seems like a lot of love is being put into it.
No sign of Atari 50 on Switch eShop. Well not in the UK one.
@Gamer_Griff I just checked a couple of UK sites (Amazon, Argos and Game) and they have the standard and steelbook editions, but also no mention of a pre-order bonus. @Olliemar28 do you have any more info on this?

@MarioBrickLayer Not at the moment I'm afraid; Atari gave no mention of specific retailers offering the pre-order bonus, just that it would be "most global retailers".
What games are on it?
Just played a lot of the ZX Spectrum version of Gauntlet. And I have to say that it is a really, really good game with a lot of content (100 levels to be precise).
Paperboy is good on the Spectrum too (although it's lacking quite a lot in the sound department).
Atari did actually make great games (never cared for Pong, Asteroids, Tempest etc. though)
On the fence with this one, childhood memories say yes and adult wallet saying maybe??? Looks great though and may well say sod it and buy it for myself for christmas!
Yeah, same for Germany - Saturn, Amazon, GameStop, and MediaMarkt all have preorders but none has the bundle code mentioned. Hopefully it'll roll out soon.
Also, any info on the steelbook version? Sounds like it's the case plus poster only.

I'd say for some of us $40 is a good value proposition for a large number of nostalgic games that appear to be collected with care, with many extras. I have such fond memories of the old Atari game cover art, and it's great to see it included. Digital Eclipse usually does fine emulation, too.
Either way, I've always been more than happy to support classy collections of classic games.
As far as I can remember, this is the first time I, Robot has come home. Looking forward to this collection.
I'm just a hair too young to be nostalgic for classic Atari and it's generally too old and janky for my tastes but this package looks really good and a serious labor of love. Might have to look into it...

How can I check the line-up of games?
It's been ages since I played my favourite Atari classics like Crystal Castles, Popeye, Marble Madness, Paperboy, Pole Position, Star Wars & Battlezone. 4 player local co-op Gauntlet on Switch would make this a must-buy for me.

L4ndphil.com is reporting that as a special hidden bonus they were including ET: The Extraterrestrial - the game is apparently BURIED very deep in the collection.
Where is Paperboy, 720, super sprint, Gauntlet etc, etc ?
@Bearzilla823 I actually wish E.T. was on collections like this. I am old enough to remember playing and enjoying it as a kid. I had no idea it was so hated back then.

The only truly classic, tempting game for me that isn't already available on Atari Flashback Classics is Solaris.

Atari is like the "misfits" of the video game world. everyone wears their shirts, but nobody actually plays them etc. I might pick this up after review for nostalgia. but honestly I feel this IP is played out.

Yes that’s exactly it - you’re always going to have a soft spot for whatever you imprinted on as a kid.
Next I’d love to see a collection like this for the Colecovision games I grew up with. I would pay beaucoup bucks for that, if they got those licenses sorted out and decided to print cartridges.
I'll be picking up because of the Jaguar games being included.
Now, can we get a 3DO flashback collection please?
