The weekend brought us INDIE Live Expo 2022, and an interesting game to emerge was TOKOYO: The Tower of Perpetuity, a challenging action platformer that hits Switch on 2nd June.
Developed by //commentout and published by PLAYISM, it's been in Steam Early Access since late 2020 and has gained some positive reviews and word of mouth. Its hook is that the tower changes every 24 hours, giving players a new challenge as they try to make it to the top. There'll be 'light' social elements too - when you die it'll place a gravestone, 'relic' and 'last words' for other players to find as they attempt the level.
Some of the official description is below:
This 2D action game is set in Tokoyo – the Tower of Perpetuity – a constantly changing and devilishly deceptive auto-generated dungeon crawling tower with fiendish monsters and brutal traps. The Tower of Perpetuity is automatically regenerated by the game server every 24 hours (in real-world time), allowing for players around the world to take on the same dungeon each day, and for one day only. Different traps and gimmicks await you each day, and you must compete against other players while battling your way through. The dungeon contains various differing branches, offering a certain degree of free choice and randomization.
Though roguelike random level generation isn't always everyone's favourite approach, the social element - with all players attempting the same stage each day - is a smart touch.

It's a pretty interesting idea. The gameplay looks a bit simple but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's fairly cheap so I'll consider it closer to launch.
@BenAV How much is it? Couldn't see the price
@Clyde_Radcliffe I only know the Australian eShop price which is $12 (20% off $15 until launch). So whatever the equivalent for your region is I guess. It should be in the coming soon section of the eShop.
I’ve just been in another thread going on about how I’m so non poised about online games , but this I like, or at least I like the premise.
Interesting gimmick, might give it a go. Seems like one of those concepts that would benefit from a more robust combat system. I bet a sequel would be amazing.
It's like this dev made the "Daily Challenge" mode I've seen in roguelikes like Crypt of the Necrodancer or Spelunky the main event of the game, instead of an interesting side-show.
The asymmetrical social feature with the gravestones seems cute, and overall it looks like decent fun to me.
I've never cared for daily leaderboard type of things and this just seems like that. Plus...more pixel art..oh joy.
