Namco's 1989 vertically-scrolling shooter Dangerous Seed is joining the Arcade Archives series, it has been revealed.
Designed by Yuichiro Shinozaki (The Tower of Druaga), Dangerous Seed runs on the Namco System 1 arcade hardware. It was later ported to the Sega Mega Drive, alongside a slightly improved soundtrack and gameplay tweaks.
Dangerous Seed isn't spoken of as a classic in the genre, but its unique visuals and great music make it stand out. Will you give it a chance when it comes to Switch?

I love that Namco has been digging DEEP into their arcade history for the Arcade Archives.
we've all played Galaga, Mappy, Rally X, and Dig Dug thousands of times. so all these games I never heard about before are very cool to see!
Cool. I’ve only played the Mega Drive conversion
Hopefully we are inching closer to the likes of Phelios. Would like to have the arcade original. Another Namcot ‘89 shooter
Love this game on the Japanese MegaDrive. I haven't played the arcade version in awhile.
Good news.
The SEGA Genesis version has a WAY better soundtrack.
Oof, I like vertical shooters, and I like the way this looks, but wow does it get bullet hellish in the later stages. I'll pass.
Oh boy. Soon, Americans, Arabians, Luxembourgers, Russians and Germans can enjoy this arcade classic on Switch.
Next we need Phelios, Finest Hour (the Namco 1989 arcade one), Dragon Spirit, Dragon Saber, Metal Hawk, Final Lap, Four Trax, Cyber Sled, Starblade, Knuckle Heads, NebulasRay, Burning Force.
If Capcom games get to Arcade Archives we need Magic Sword and Red Earth.
So many Namco arcade hits that have yet to be on Switch like Soul Edge/Blade, Tekken, Ridge Racer,
Absolutely fantastic game, great to see something good coming from the AA.
@MetalHawk Capcom games are never coming.
Release Galaxian and Pole Position already!
The Namco Arcade collection is currently on sale for $7.50. Most here probably already have it.
I would prefer DLC packs for the collection or a second collection.
heh. "Dangerous Seed."
More old school shmups is always good news.
@YANDMAN @MetalHawk Yeah, Capcom cut out the middleman and released Capcom Arcade Stadium (free to download and includes 1943). Not sure if those games are on the list, but you can buy titles individually or in bundles.
Individually they are $2 (not $8)!
@NinChocolate
this is the second time ive seen another person mention phelios on this site, or ever! Such a great game. 👍
I did get a complete copy of the Mega Drive port before prices went nuts.
I think the game is only four levels, but we know what the AVGN said about games that are only four levels.
I recall last time I tried I couldn't even credit feed through the third level.
Though arcade Phelios, was that only in Japanese?
I was playing a bit of the Genesis version, and oddly the Japanese Mega Drive port has all the text written in bad English (that, an oddity for its time, they actually spent time and rewrote for the western releases) with I think the post-boss cutscene voices being the only actual Japanese in the JP version.
What are the chances of Midway games getting the Arcade Archives treatment? 3 hopes…
Awesome! I’d like to see these Namco games on switch soon:
Pelios
Pole Position II
Splatterhouse 2
Rolling Thunder 2
Marvel Land
Burning Force
Japan exclusive = MINE ALL OF THEM MINE!
@Tandy255 I own them all, and desperately await more.
