While it might not seem like there's much to look forward to at the start of a new year, for Nintendo Switch owners in January 2022, there are plenty of game releases to get excited about.
We've got the return of IP like Shadow Man, Windjammers is finally getting that sequel, Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX 2 is already on the way, and to top Pokémon Legends: Arceus is out on the 28th. To discuss what's on the horizon, the lovely Alex and Jon have teamed up.
You can hear their thoughts in the video above, but if you are wanting the Switch line-up for January 2022 here you go:
Crumble - 3rd Jan 2022

I almost forgot there will be Pokemon Legend of Arceus on this January 2022, but my gaming hype currently is on different machines.
I will keep my eyes on Legend of Arceus since I will not pick the game Day One, wait for cheaper price option after several months.
I still busy to build my PS3, PS4 and PS2 games on this year.
I have to get some DDR / Beatmania IIDX PS2 games during this year.
It’s pretty much just Arceus for me this month. That game is gonna be another big seller to kick off the new year for Nintendo just after BDSP success.
Cautiously optimistic for Legends Arceus, looks like it has potential.
Oh who am I kidding it’s Game Freak they’ll mess it up somehow.
Arceus is the only game I have an eye on for this month.
@Anti-Matter How are your DDR mats holding up?
@Twonips
I have a plan to get Metal DDR pad from local online shopping website on this year, maybe almost near end of year 2022 but I need to assure if the Metal DDR pad with USB output will be detected on my PS2 machines and other consoles.
Just Arceus for me this month. Really hope it's decent and can reinvigorate my interest in this property.
The official description of Crumble sounded kind of awful so I was ignoring it, but the gameplay shown in the YouTube video associated to this article actually looks really fun. And Gunvolt games are always fun. Still undecided on Arceus.
I have a feeling that Arceus will run similarly to how Security Breach runs on Playstation
Take this with salt, I want to be wrong too
Just Pokémon for me.
And in the meantime, I really need to hurry and beat both Gen IV remakes so that I can clone all of the legendaries before I finally update the games (so that I don't miss out on the inevitable Darkrai/Shaymin/Arceus events).
I wonder what ever happen to the garbage looking Prince of Persia port that was suppose to come out last year for every platform except the Switch but was definitely gonna come out this year.
Legends: Arceus is a heck of a lot more than can be said for pretty much any January in the Switch's history, so we're definitely off a strong start here.
Arceus the only one on the list for me.
I'm not into Pokemon, but Legends looks sort of interesting. I don't like the art style at all though, and given the general reception of the last few games, I'm pretty skeptical. If this one does well, though, I may check it out.
@Anti-Matter Are they still selling good DDR mats these days? I used to own a Cobalt Flux...those things were insanely sturdy and worked on GC, PS2, Xbox, and PC. Very hard to find these days but if you find one and it has the PS2 plug, it’s worth the money. I was playing edits I made on PC that would probably be considered 16’s - 18’s today and they held up perfectly. They don’t have bars though, just FYI.
@StarPoint Are you not into Pokémon like I’m not into anything ninja related?
@BloodNinja lol I guess my profile picture contradicts that. Jigglypuff is my Smash main, but outside of that I don't have any relation with Pokemon
@StarPoint Oh right, forgot about Smash. I don't play, so I had forgotten that little puffball is in there. I thought you were making a joke!
I'm not even cautiously optimistic for Arceus. Until they hire a bunch of devs with actual modern gaming talent or pass it off to a deserving team it's never going to stop being a bottom of the barrel cash grab. It's almost out and they've shown us basically nothing, that's never a good sign.
@BloodNinja
The Metal DDR pad is a homemade, built by order and it will take 2 weeks to finish after PreOrder. It has bar like Arcade style and the price is almost equal with one cheap 3DS XL machine price.
I was surprised to see there was one seller could make homemade metal DDR pad and I can get it from my country without importing from foreign country.
I still have to wait the right time to order Metal DDR pad as I still busy to hunt some old games.
There is no conceivable way Arceus will ever be what people are cooking up in their minds that it is. The game simply does not look good.
@Anti-Matter Sounds nice, enjoy!
Wait a new Gunvolt game, I forgot about that!
Pokemon for me. It's the one game I'm super excited for this year because since being a kid I've always dreamed of a open world pokemon game, so it's a dream come true. I'm just really hoping it runs good so everybody can shut up with the gamefreak slander, that all started because they couldn't catch magmortar in one out of eight games.
Oh sorry haven’t had much time to look at video games coming out due to the hype around ice age, adventures of buck wild. I can promise you I am not the only one exited. There has to be at least one more.
Just Pokémon Legends Arceus for me. I think it's an interesting take on the Pokémon franchise, and I do hope it will be a success.
Arceus for me, may get the Uncharted remaster for PS5 as well.
@ShePenny What a weird comment. The anti Pokémon for the sake of it train has just pulled in I guess.
I'm picking up Cogen: Sword of Rewind alongside Lumionous Avenger iX 2. Great day for Mega Man-esque actioneering with those two titles released at the same time!
Arceus for me! Has potential. Crumble looks like a descent looking sonic type game. I'm down for it :0
I'm looking forward to "Unforeseen Incidents", a dark, hand-drawn adventure game that will be released on 27th January.
Pokemon, Blackwind, and Astroneer are the only ones that interest me. I'll wait for reviews though.
@Eighties
Literally just started playing Shadowman on N64 and it's a bit rough so I was gonna grab it on Dreamcast, glad I saw this in the 'coming soon' section before I ordered one! Can't wait.
@Eighties
Thanks! The intro got me hooked straight away. I bet you're stoked for the included cut content!
@Anti-Matter Do you have stock in DDR?
Haven't heard of Blackwind until now but after seeing the gameplay, holy Arceus, it looks like something I'll be investing more time with. I might get this along with Pokémon Legends
Looking forward to Pokemon Legends. The others are pretty all on my wishlist pending reliable review sites thoughts
I am so excited to hopefully lose myself in Legends Arceus, seeing the areas, people and particularly the Pokemon since it seems that there's A LOT to do for each of them like looking at their moves, forms and even bloody eating habits, it's going to be so fun.
Maybe Arceus, but not day one after I've already purchased Pearl so soon. 2021 had a much better lineup for me with Crash, Sonic, Pokemon and Mario. I think this year will be more about my retro collections. Looking forward to Banjo Kazooie on the online this month!
Oh Shadow Man and Gunvolt are day 1 buys for me!
@sanderev Love Pokemon (playing the Pearl remake right now). Arceus looks like garbage.
@Anti-Matter Would that be an american store or canadian? Sorry for the late reply.
