One of the most intriguing announcements from yesterday's Indie World was Afterlove EP, a 'mix-tape visual novel' set in Jakarta, Indonesia from the creative director of What Comes After and Coffee Talk.
The protagonist is Rama, a musician who is struggling to find his muse after losing the love of his life, Cinta. Cinta may be gone, but her spirit remains and often appears to spur Rama on in his promise to complete an EP of music for his lost love.
Described by its developer as "a mix tape of visual novel, rhythm game and narrative adventure", Afterlove EP has multiple endings and even features original music from Indonesian band L’alphalpha.
It launches on Switch in Summer 2022; will you be giving it a spin?

I was surprised to see an indie game from my country Indonesia 🇮🇩 got announced from Indie Direct. 🙂
Not kind of my gaming type despite it has a rhythm game part but as Indonesian people, i'm so proud to see indie games from Indonesian developers can get approved by big company like Nintendo / Sony. 👍
Also, the setting on that game was at Jakarta, the West part of Java island, very far away from my hometown.
(I live in Surabaya, East Java)
It has an interesting looking art style, but this is the type of game whose quality hinges on its writing, so I'll wait to see the reviews.
Giving me an Indie Scott Pilgrim vibe
My knee-jerk reaction was "I've already played games like this."
But setting the game in Indonesia is a lovely and inspired choice, and the artwork is beautiful, so I'm definitely excited to check it out.
It looks nice and quirky but if it's anything like the other games by the dev it'll be all style and no substance
I just can’t be bothered cause the girl is dead. Sounds blunt but honestly, I’ve had enough of these ‘tragic’ love story type deals.
