Update: Sadly, Christopher Ell has removed the video from YouTube amid concerns that it might attract too many people. Nothing to see here!
Original Story [Fri 29th Oct, 2021 00:55 BST]: Halloween is almost here and to get us in the mood for the spookiest night of the year, DreamWorks Animation artist and Pokémon fan, Christopher Ell, has created his very own "original" five and half minute Pokémon ride film. It features Pikachu, plenty of Ghost-Type, and many appropriately themed locations.
The "not-for-profit" short will be airing this Halloween for local trick-or-treaters located in Southern California. According to Ell, the all-ages shorts was created in Unreal Engine and features full 60fps HFR video displayed across two 10ft projection screens to provide a thrilling experience.
Here's a bit about the actual ride, along with a full preview of it above:
"In this original Pokemon adventure, trick-or-treaters of all ages will embark on a daring expedition with Pikachu to observe ghost Pokemon on one of the only days you can...Halloween. And thanks to Prof. Sequoia's newest invention, the Pokemon Observational Vehicle (P.O.V), it should be completely safe and sound. Unless some of the ghost Pokemon have other plans..."
You can learn more about this short over on the artist's YouTube Channel. Admittedly, we're not too sure what The Pokémon Company and even DreamWorks might think about this - so check it out while you can, we guess.
What did you think of the above Halloween Pokémon short? Will you be training up any Ghost-Type this weekend in celebration? Surprise us with a comment down below.

Looks interesting, and I do like DreamWorks (for the most part). I'll check it out later.
If you also want to check out another Pokémon Fan-Series, I recommend Starter Squad (surprised this website hasn't mentioned it yet).
Not impressed, to be honest. I expected a little more out of the animations other than just them plopping the game animations into Unreal Engine.
@Shepdawg1 Why would they go to the trouble of creating new animations? It’s a ride film solo project for Christ’s sake.
That was interesting to say the least...
@Shepdawg1 If Game freak doesn't, why should they?
I thought it was pretty cool, especially if it really was just made by this single person. Really impressive what a single dedicated animator can accomplish in Unreal Engine!
@Shepdawg1 Well if you're so critical about an animation made by one person, I'd like to see you make one.
Awesome short… would have been perfect as a New Pokémon Snap stage
I’m going, I live right by this.
This seems so much like star tours at Disneyland I’d love tho have Pokémon themed ride like this
this is how the next pokemon snap would look
Hmm not bad. Seeing Misdrevious is making me want to play Diamond and Pearl again. The remake because the original is too slow!
But if you're planning the showcasing this as an virtual theme park some suggestions. The action when we get to gengar attack is a bit dull.
Nothing big but try to have try to do a hypnotizing move or tries to eat the car, and the humor is kinda cringe. Kids are smarter than this.
That would be a cool Universal 3d ride or a VR video
If I was going to tell everyone I worked for such a big studio I would have raised the bar a little...and maybe not use the official models from another company.
But I guess he's busy working on real movies so fair enough, it's just an odd choice.
Aaaand its gone
@HotGoomba If I were a creator, I’d rather people were honest with me and criticize my work when there are flaws rather than heap undeserved praise on me out of fear of hurting my feelings. Growth doesn’t come when you’re comfortable. In the same vein, I’d rather have my opinion and be honest with it than lie to this creator and say that I enjoyed their work when I didn’t.
@Shepdawg1 Well I guess I see your point, but that's not what he was going for. Just a little project. Also this was made by one person in a short amount of time.
