Dying Light, the open-world zombie parkour game, was recently brought to Switch, and we were pretty impressed — not every Switch port is made equal, after all, and some really don't stick the landing.
But Techland is pretty proud of the effort they put into porting the game, and they've released a behind-the-scenes video to give players a little more insight into the technological hurdles they faced and platform-exclusive features that they added along the way.
“We are more than happy with the initial reception of Dying Light Platinum Edition for the Nintendo Switch and we are grateful for everyone’s kind words. The feedback received so far clearly confirms that our joint efforts have resulted in one of the best ports on [the] Switch platform, delivering immersive and stable gameplay for both handheld and docked modes.
Nevertheless, we are committed to fixing any issues raised so far (e.g. frame rate cap) and improving the performance and quality, so stay tuned!”
- Piotr Chrzanowski, Head of Technology at Techland
Dying Light Platinum Edition is available now, and Dying Light 2: Stay Human will be shuffling onto Switch early next year as a Cloud Edition game.

There was no way I thought they would be able to pull this off, I am now eating my hat.
Well done.
I have it on PS4 but I'm still tempted to get it for my Switch eventually.
I'd also love the Dead Island series to be ported over, I really enjoyed those too.
This is one hella port! They did a fantastic job bringing this over to the Switch!
Love that they did this video. Dying Light on the Switch has really resurrected the game for me. I put it to rest on the PS4 years back and somehow they brought my wallet back from the graveyard for another trip around Harran!
I'm dying to play this on the switch.....hopefully square enix will see this and hopefully bring kingdom hearts 1.5 & 2.5 to switch natively not that cloud bs.
They did a great job bringing this game to Switch!
I'm glad I pre-ordered and was able to start playing a few days early. Such a fun game to play in handheld mode on a Switch oled! HD rumble and gyro aiming along with all of the DLC included is icing on the cake! I'll definitely show some more support and pick up another copy soon!
Huge props to techland for getting the best out of the switch!
They did a great job. Well done techland.
@Nookingtons they aren’t a porting studio though
Good job techland, they deserve this praise
Started this today. It's very impressive, isn't it! Good job Techland.
@Nookingtons Yeah if capcom or square enix actually shelled out the cash I've got no doubts kingdom hearts and some of the recent resident evil games would be on the switch right now.
I'm not interested in the game, but that's some nice PR effort.
@Nookingtons I may be in the minority, but I've found that RE5 works impressively well even when playing split screen, and RE6 is solid. Have you had any problems with Capcom games?
Stop reading this and buy Dying Light on the Nintendo Switch I'm blown away how good it is I don't want it to end!
And Square Enix can't port a couple of PS2 games. That's disgraceful.
@Gwynbleidd not the first time. Devolver already pulled a stunt like that earlier this year, though they did it on purpose.
@PoliticallyIncorrect Man that spy vs spy pfp brings back some memories from the CN MAD, i loved that segment, very much based
