One of the highlights from last week's Nintendo Direct was without question the reveal of Kirby and the Forgotten Land, a new 3D Kirby game headed to Switch next year.
We were treated to just over two minutes of footage in total consisting of large 3D spaces, combat and copy abilities, and lots of Kirby waddling around on his lonesome. In fact, having gotten so used to the Kirby Star Allies-style formula, where Kirby and friends find themselves bouncing around more compact 2D levels, seeing our favourite puffball roaming around such a vast area was quite the sight to behold.
To examine the trailer further, our very own video overlord Alex Olney has taken the time to dissect each and every frame of footage, analysing – and perhaps over analysing – every little detail to see what we can learn about this new release.
Make sure to check it out up above and let us know if there's anything else you've spotted in the comments below.

Kirby finally feels like the star of the show
It's a 3D-World clone. Probably with 4-player co-op.
@nitrolink Eh, I doubt it. 3D world revealed it was a co-op game from the start, and so did Star Allies. It's just a singleplayer game from the looks of it.
@VoidofLight Yeah, that's what I was about to say. But, there could be 2-player co-op like what odyssey did.
@Leprecorn yes no allies in sight just kirb
@GamingBread I mean, there could, but the likeliness of it is low. We'll just have to wait and see.
Notice that there doesn’t seem to be any challenges anywhere
The only thing that would have been more exciting about this one for me was in Kirby hopped into a Robobot at the end!
I think this will be a good Kirby game. I've never been a die hard fan of Kirby but I do play it so I'm interested in this game and I think it'll be one of the best Kirby's
It’s worth mentioning that several aspects look strikingly similar to the forgotten Kirby Battle Royale from 2017/2018: Several animations and facial expressions seem pulled from it, as do some Copy Ability move sets. Judging from the look of the Beast Army shown here, the game may have a sillier tone than other entries, like Battle Royale before it. Interesting!
This trailer is exclusively a movement showcase for fans worried about the transition. Also things will definitely change between now and spring next year so I'll await the next trailer closer to release.
Also as a fan since the first game, it was a momentous reveal for the franchise and I'm happy at the step taken regardless. Very excited to pick it up. I need to finish Sekiro, Samus Returns, etc games. I also want to do a solo ability run in Kirby Star Allies' Soul Melter EX mode too before the game comes out. It's gonna be a good kind of hell I suppose.
I'm already gonna buy it. Any extra information is extraneous
Also, I would enjoy playable Dedede. Yes, I'm that guy.
Looks good but I wish it was coming this year. So far my switch game of the year is ....... lego marvel superheroes
Well that initial trailer did nothing for me. Hopefully it’s much more improved closer to launch.
I've never played a Kirby game before, but since I prefer 3D platformers this might be my first.
I had fun with Kirby Star Allies. I picked it up used for $35 though. Looks like I'll wait to get this one used too.
Interesting analysis. Even if it's the first complete main 3D Kirby game, linear levels would be a step down from KAR's City Trial so I'm hoping it'll be the most open it can, at least like Super Mario 64...
It's been Kirby's Dreamland previously so I guess this is basically "Kirby's Real Land", and I like it. I'm intrigued to find out the name of this world.
