If Metroid Dread's super fancy Special Edition isn't exciting enough, there are now even more goodies to buy that'll let you really celebrate the game's release next month.
From accessory maker PowerA, a brand new controller design and Switch case featuring Metroid Dread artwork are set to launch just after the game's release in October. They're both available from Amazon US as we speak (the controller is $27.99 and the case is $12.99), and will ship from 15th October.
Please note that some external links on this page are affiliate links, which means if you click them and make a purchase we may receive a small percentage of the sale. Please read our FTC Disclosure for more information.
The controller comes from PowerA's wired range, boasting mappable buttons, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a 3m USB cable; the case can house your Switch, Switch Lite, or even the new OLED, and has space for ten cartridges.
We haven't seen these new items pop up in Europe just yet, but anyone who pre-orders Metroid Dread from the My Nintendo Store UK will be entered into a prize draw to win them.
Are you liking the designs? Think you'll pick either of these up? Let us know in the usual place.

These bright color schemes really don't scream "dread". And that controller could have been so much better...😒 Colored buttons or d-pad for starters.
If that were a Nintendo Pro Controller, I'd actually buy it, and I don't even own a switch.
I’m getting that case day one, as for these pro controllers, I’m kinda getting tired, I get it, they’re budget releases, but they lack so many functions and just don’t feel as great, the designs are pretty but they’re just so many and it’s like, why? But yeah, those designs? Top notch
That's cool, I like whenever Nintendo does stuff like this, I'm definitely going to get the controller
Wired? Gross.
If this was wireless I would strongly consider it, as I've been buying Power A controllers like candy recently. The Switch just has so few USB ports, the wired controller I do have is too inconvenient to use.
That case is super nice looking. I’m still rocking my basic black case from 2017… maybe I should finally get a new one?
Wish there was a darker theme for both items, but the wired controller (and even this light theme looks pretty cool) is a no-go for me due to lack of rumble and NFC.
These designs could be so much more than a render slapped on the products, especially the controller.
The case is not too bad, but too bright for a game about "dread". I'll eventually get the controller at a garage sale in 2027 for $1. Will the Dread amiibos even work on that controller?
But a question: the case for old switch is suitable also for new Switch Oled? Thanks
@trcsf : Nope. The PowerA controllers do not support the NFC reader or HD rumble.
I’m wishing now that they had instead modelled the white Switch OLED model around Metroid Dread rather than making it generic. For everyone else, there is always the red/blue model.
@Silly_G Thought so. Thanks for confirming.
I might grab the PowerA controller if it was their new wireless version as the only thing they are missing is hd Rumble, they have all the other features of the pro and even have more mappable buttons on the back which is handy.
Shame it's the wired version, I'll wait for their wireless one.
The controllers looked great... then I realized power A made them
Wired? Is that still a thing?
I liked the designs, thought it was an official Pro controller... Bummer
I just don't understand all of these wired controller options. My dock is tucked away on my bookshelf. I don't want to run wires across my living room. If this was wireless with some form of rumble I would be all in.
@molkom
RIGHT!?!?!?
Definitely getting both.
Awful controller.
@Steel76 I've always thought this approach was lazy. There are ways of using the game's/series' color scheme (or other iconography) to do something thematic and conceptual.
