Famitsu's Japanese chart figures are now in for the week ending 5th September, revealing that Ring Fit Adventure has once again found itself at the top of the pile.
Nintendo's fitness RPG managed to (very) narrowly outsell Mario Kart 8 Deluxe this week to claim that top prize – the two were separated by just 18 physical sales for the period. The rest of the top ten consists of some very familiar names, including the likes of Minecraft which sits comfortably in third spot.
Here are the top ten (first numbers are this week's estimated sales, followed by total sales):
- [NSW] Ring Fit Adventure (Nintendo, 10/18/19) – 15,610 (2,804,231)
- [NSW] Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Nintendo, 04/28/17) – 15,592 (4,025,525)
- [NSW] Minecraft (Microsoft, 06/21/18) – 14,229 (2,167,282)

Good lord, the hardware sales when OLED launches are going to be as silly as folk thinking the Switch needed a spec upgrade to keep up momentum!
Keep an eye out around Oct 5th for Dreamcast, Saturn and Gamegear entries. They feature in Super Monkey Ba-ok, ok.
I forgot about Ring Fit Adventure. Good to see that it's still doing well.
RFA needs a sequel/major update. I've 100% the game, and found it highly motivating through my journey, but now that I have every title, all 69 worlds, and every catalog item, I find my routine slipping.
Heck, I'd settle for a New Game +++ with no actual new content and just some new character dialogue again.
It makes me happy to see Mario 3D World still in the Top 10 around the world..what a lovely, colourful joy of a game that is!
I still own it on my beloved WiiU but rebought for the Switch..and so glad I did
It is amazing
I could tell this before this NL review came up. People must need some confirmation tool to figure this out....
@Toads-Friend I'm hoping to get 3D World + Bowser's Fury sometime soon. I watched playthroughs of it and it looks like a really fun game.
@Toads-Friend besides MK8D, it’s probably the only must have port from the WiiU if u previously owned them. Granted, I also bought Toad and DKTF for chill mode bc I suck.
@ObeseChihuahua2 indeed it's a great game.. i finished with my wife and I played the last stages alone (coz they are way harder)..
But mario odyssey is waay better also! any main mario is certain of an awesome game!
@rockodoodle DKTF it's awesome also! I finished the "secret" world in the end.. but I still have to buy captin toad! My wife LOVED these stages in 3Dworld.
We need more games that use the ring con. Ring fit adventure is fun, but a little bland. Come on Nintendo, it's sold well enough.
@mantarobuster300,
Because people want to keep fit in a more secure environment, possibly.
@mantarobuster300 maybe people want to spice their exercise routine. It has some challenges to it and is fun to play.
@GrailUK,
The Switch will have another awesome sales year no matter what the naysayers say, and will sell as many OLED units as they can produce, especially over the holiday period.
So it will sell more than WiiU and 3DS combined. Perfect.
@rex_rex I do like Odyssey for its exploration and the fact that it just feels like an HD version of 64 but if there were 60 stars stuffed into each level.
I feel like Tsukihime would have been the Switch version on the list if they made more copies.
With all the hit games on PS4 so far you would think there will be a well known big PlayStation 4 title at the top 10 instead of that princess visual novel game.
@Toads-Friend we absolutely adored it on Wii U, my son wants it for Christmas for Switch and I’ve been talking to Santa Claus… he’s getting it lol Can’t wait!
Makes sense. End of summer, fewer chances for outdoor exercise.
And another week passes with Sony not selling a PS5 game.
@Edu23XWiiU Tales of Arise should be on the chart next week, I would be shock if both PlayStation games didn't make it.
@Specter_of-the_OLED I'm shocked they didn't develop it with Switch in mind. I have a bad feeling about it.
The PS5 is outselling the Lite? Maybe Nintendo should just discontinue it, contrary to what the genius Michael Pachter assumes.
@GrailUK If it sells well chances are Bandai Namco may port it to Switch next year. They did it with Ni no Kuni 1 & 2 and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.
@Specter_of-the_OLED Yeah, good point.
@rex_rex love the game and the character, but I am terrible. Even Chill Mode is hard for me.
Nice to see 2ds still selling (just) 🙂. Didn't know you could still buy it new.
@YusseiWarrior3000 because it provides a pretty good workout for cheaper than a year long gym membership (and without the smell, judgemental people, and other unavoidable gym BS). Not to mention that we're in a pandemic, so most people don't want to go to a place packed with sweaty people/most people don't want to wear a mask while exercising.
While my routine slipped (stuff came up and I never got around to playing again, but in the two months I did play, I lost about twenty seven pounds), it was definitely a great purchase, definitely the best fitness game (well, third best if Sports Resort or ARMS counts).
I really hope we get a sequel/DLC/another Ring Con game at some point. It's a great concept and one of my all time favorite peripherals. I've always felt that a minigame compilation or a WarioWare (which I hope fills the role of the more gimmicky second WarioWare ala Twisted and DIY) would be a good fit for the Ring Con.
Also, how is the 2DS still selling? Didn't they stop production like two years ago? Like, where can I buy one new? Since I'd love to pick one up for a friend who missed the 3DS era.
@Specter_of-the_OLED maybe, but most likely it won't heheheh.
@Edu23XWiiU That's what I said about Ni no Kuni 2 and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot and look what happen. The expectation is likely with this one and Tales games aren't the kind of games that had to be super graphical to run on Switch.
@Specter_of-the_OLED I was referring to the PS5 games entering the top of Japanese sales hehehe. Most likely, the game will get ported to the Switch, they'll get a lot of sales for that.
