New Pokémon Snap's getting some welcome new content this week, and thanks to several new clips that have appeared online, we can now get a closer look at the new courses we'll be exploring.
As detailed last week, an update will go live for the game tomorrow, 3rd August for those of you in North America, and the following day for those in Europe and Japan. It'll add 20 new Pokémon to capture on film, as well as three new courses – a new location at the Florio Nature Park called Secret Side Path, Mightywide River, and Barren Badlands.
Over on Twitter, @poke_times has been sharing new clips for each of these three areas. Some of the footage here was used in last week's announcement trailer, but each video also has some fresh scenes to check out. Here are the videos for Mightywide River and Barren Badlands:
And finally, here's a clip of the new Secret Side Path. Arguably the most interesting of the new areas, this course sees you and your NEO-ONE vehicle shrink right down to the size of a bug, allowing you to see Pokémon in a whole new light.
The update is completely free to everyone who owns the base game, so you'll be able to check out these new areas for yourself as soon as it unlocks in your region.
Let us know if you'll be giving them a try in the comments.

It’s free? Awesome! I was expecting this to be paid DLC.
I've been pleasantly surprised by my enjoyment of this game.
@Pokester99 Nope, it looks much much better than the N64 original
(And much much better than Pokémon Sword & Shield as well)
This is nice. Just bought this 2 weeks ago
@Tom-Smo come one… look at that texture on the belly. Doesn’t help Snorlax has a very basic face design
Pretty sure Nintendo Life could have found a better screenshot, if they tried, but no post one like this for the outrage, and inevitable, this looks like a GameBoy colour game.
@johnvboy Looks more like a Atari 2600 game 😉
@Pokester99 does it though really? You don’t actually believe that
Will definitely check it out.. not to sound greedy.. but I want more!!
@Pokester99 No it doesn't
Insert obligatory "this game looks better than sword and shield even though it was made by a different developer and not actually by game freak" comment here
@Tom-Smo,
Now don't be silly, although pong's shading was a little better.
@FluffiestP1llow,
And an on rails game, but the Sword and Shield haters have got to do something with their spare time.
@FluffiestP1llow and that makes it inaccurate or excuses Game Freak how exactly?
@Pokester99 Are you crazy? Just look at the sharp rasterization of his eye and mouth lines, and the resolution of his 2D teeth, and the dozens of polygons around the stomach, and the immaculate textures. I could literally go on for ages about how this is clearly 23 years of technological advancements from the 64 game, please get your eyes checked.
@johnvboy Oh did you need examples of open world games on Switch that look and run better than Sword and Shield? I've got a few hours to make a list if you promise to read it.
@SpaceboyScreams,
I was only joking, the Pokemon games have always looked a little below par for the systems they were running on.
I would have been quite angry had this been paid DLC (I don't buy physical releases merely for the packaging), but I won't complain about a free bonus.
I've found the game to be far more engrossing than I had expected, and I am excited about the possibility of a VR sequel/port someday. I've also been holding out on playing the final stage(s) as I am still savouring the earlier ones.
I also bought the Instax printer bundle with the Pikachu silicon case (which I will never, ever use ) for that Game Boy Printer experience that I never had as a kid. (and I've bought a whole heap of Instax cartridges which I really ought to use before they expire )
@SpaceboyScreams first off, it's a joke. Second I never said it excuses game freak at all? But of course it looks better, game freak is extremely lazy with their graphics we all know this. I never said it was inaccurate, just making a harmless joke. A joke you clearly didn't get.
Epic cool epic cool epic
