If you need a break from the hunt in Monster Hunter Rise, Capcom's next game Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is just around the corner.
During the Summer Game Fest, the Japanese video game giant shared a new trailer of the upcoming Nintendo Switch release, which arrives next month on 9th July. It gives us a brief look at the disaster and destruction that awaits. Enjoy!
"When Razewing Ratha is awakened, disaster will befall the land...What new mysteries and threats lie ahead as a result of this cataclysmic event?"
As you can see towards the end of the trailer, there'll also be a Deluxe Edition up for grabs. It includes a copy of the game, DLC outfits, costumes and armour, a spiky hairstyle and a sticker set.
Will you be checking out Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin when it arrives on the Switch this July? Comment below.

Already pre-ordered. The wait has been so painful...
Great to see gameplay finally
Capcom was smart to release both Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Stories 2 in the early and mid part of 2021. That way both games won't be overshadow by the Pokemon releases coming in late 2021 and early 2022.
Still no actual world exploration footage. We've seen enough story trailers guys!
Honestly, I'm worried at this point that they'll show all of the game's story before the game itself releases. This is like the second story trailer that they've released..
@Dezzy I mean it is called monster hunter STORIES
@OnlyItsMeReid
Oh right thanks, I'm no longer troubled now!
It's looking fantastic.
The original was absolutely wonderful and this looks even better.
Roll on release day 😊
first rise. now this. Monster Hunter has become Capcom's flagship game now. this game looks so awesome. cannot wait until it comes out.
Still waiting to pre order a collectors edition in the uk! As none have been listed or amiibo.
Those amiibo. They know what they're doing.
Finally, some gameplay footage! I'm all for the story, though I hope it isn't quite as Saturday morning formulaic this time around lol. I really want to play this, but it won't be day one. July is so full of releases I want that I've had to pick and choose....
Tried a few times to get into the MH main series and just couldn't. I want to try this too but from what I've seen so far, the game is a 2 hour anime movie, right? Like, what kind of game is this? Open world? Turn based battles? I don't understand.
@invictus4000 This gameplay video might help: https://youtu.be/GfdYcMxhkhc
It's pretty much like the first game, meaning it's turned based, sandbox. Imagine the field area of Pokemon Shield but with more detail and you can actually ride your monster. Combat is a combination of using rider and monster. The monster does some automatic attacks based on his behaviour, but you can also command it to do specified attacks after filling a gauge. Personally even as a big Pokemon fan, I found this game way more enjoyable. PVP was quite fun, you can even customize your monster with different elements and genes (which determine attacks and status) .
To get monsters, you enter caves and search for nests. You can move fast, steal and egg and avoid fighting or fight your way out. There's certain egg traits like smell and patterns to determine wich monster and how strong will it be.
Sorry for the long text, I try to keep it qs brief as possible while explaining some stuff. Seeing gameplay/reviews of the first game might help. Personally I think that it blew Pokemon Sun and Moon out of the water ( I still liked those) but many reviewers didn't dare to score it higher.
Razewing Rathalos needs to be added as a variant in MHRise
@roy130390 So it's how to train your dragon : the game
Is it just me but could the last frame of the trailer be used as a new meme template?
@roy130390 Thanks for the breakdown!
