They need to discount Balan by another $40.19 ;p
Gahhhhh I want to pick up FF8 and 9 but I haven't finished 12 yet :/
You know this puts into perspective how high cost so many of Square Enix's titles are.
Curiously, no Dragon Quest titles on sale.
$40 is still a really hard sell for Balan Wonderworld when the online community has widely covered what a blunder it is.
Why put Balan in the forefront? You guys yourselves rated it a 3!
"I i'm Balan, my suits are delicious" ok but for real, I think what they need to try and to is get rid of the number 4 in the price,
and there we go now doesn't that look better? 0$
Saga Collection on sale yet? C'mon...
They are so coy about how bad Balan is.<3
Curtain Call is tempting
Oh I don’t have FF8...
@jump still too expensive
Balan Wonderworld needs to be discounted by another 9999999999999999999999999999999999999999% percent. So they will pay you to take it.
Balan Wonderworld could be free and I still wouldn't want it
Isn't this sale also in Europe now? A whole lot of SE titles got discounted yesterday.
And it's priceless (no pun intended) how many fanheads openly calling Balan "terrible" are clamouring for its to be reduced to a giveaway so they can still claim this terrible game and maybe even PLAY this terrible game, and tell everyone how terrible it is to play. All instead of getting and playing a myriad of better games.
Thank you, NL commenters. The phrase "angry sex" used to puzzle me, but no more.
No crystal Chronicles ?
@jump Even then I wouldn't want it ^^
@nhSnork
Who's saying that they want to play it?
I do see a few commenters saying that they wouldn't even buy it even if it was free though.
I still have to finish the last game I purchased, so while I am good for now. They will eventually be discounted again.
If you don't have some of the FF titles from this list don't worry these discounts comes like 1-2 months each time
@RupeeClock I remember shaking my fist at the Square tax in the DS days. Most games were $30, theirs were always $40.
I might get collections of Saga/Mana anyway.
They never seem to remember that The Last Remnant exists...
Picked up "Trials of Mana" physical in Target last week for $14.99 - clearance end cap PS4 version - so I'm good for awhile. 😊
I took advantage of this sale to finally buy Final Fantasy IX - although I will only play it after I finish FF VI and VII, which I bought last year on Steam sales.
I was playing XII (which my brother gave me) and enjoying it, but I decided to take a break to get to know the previous games in the franchise better.
Ha Balan already had a price drop when it's only a month on the market. That's not a good sign, that's PS Classic bad of a sale. It'll likely drop even further if the $40 doesn't work.
If you want a physical copy of Balan Wonderwhatthehellhappened and just can't wait for some reason, Target, Walmart & Gamestop have it for $39.99. Surprisingly, other major online retailers are more expensive. I'm waiting for that $10 clearance myself. There are so many brilliant games for $10-20 that I can't see paying more than that for the Balan experience.
You would have to pay me to play through Balan Wonderworld.
Oh guys, just let it go. It has nothing good if you crap talk about Balan and neither will it make the game vanish. Did it has flaws... yes. Do we need to pull it through the dirt because of this? No, because there is no benefit from that. It is okay to dislike something, but there is no need for this kind of talk.
An other thing: I see Romancing SaGa 2 and 3. What happened to part 1?
Ah, perfect. I'll take the plunge on Final Fantasy XII. I finished VII last week for the first time and I'm hankering for more Final Fantasy experiences. I have VI on the SNES Mini, XIII on PC, and playing XII on the Switch would be great.
@jump ouch harsh but sadly true
40 bucks is still too high for bland wonderland if it was 20 bucks fine but not worth it for mediocre game.
i can buy balan when it'll be less than 10€
Maybe I'll buy Balan Wonderworld when it's $5, not $40.
I didn't enjoy FF XV on Xbone, but is the pocket edition better?
@Timptation Neither does anyone else 😂 Not a bad game by any means, but that's gotta be one of their biggest flops ever. It once was a big deal as their first ever HD game, and it bombed so bad that it's just been forgotten even after a modern re-release.
@Ulanda I believe the remake of 1, Frontier 2, and Unlimited Saga are all coming later.
@jump Hey thats not fair at all. It should be discounted by $50...that way we can get paid for playing whatever that game is.
@SwitchVogel I dont care much for digital unless it’s super cheap. I would’ve already bought a lot of their games if they had physical versions, and that’s probably a lot to do with why they didn’t sell. I’m stuck importing what I can. How hard could it be for them to slap 75% off one more game? Hell, was Spelunker Party making them tons of money? I don’t get how they can just completely forget a game...
@Classic603 I highly doubt it. Pretty much the same story and everything else just with a chibi art style. It was a mobile game for iPhone and Android..so that should be all you need to know haha
@Timptation Oh, that sucks. We get part 2 and 3 but not part 1 and on top of it SaGa Scarlet Grace: Ambitions, which looks like a cheap mobile game... this not a good way to introduce new players to this series at all.
@Ulanda Starting by testing the waters with the two most critically acclaimed games (2+3), then moving onto everything else, starting with the most nostalgic in the West (Collection, Frontier) seems like a good way to introduce people to me...? Having the PS2 remake of 1 instead of the SNES original also seems like better option. Scarlet Grace IS a mobile game that was enhanced and ported to consoles, and is also very highly regarded... I'm not sure what you're looking for here... They aren't continuous stories if that's what you're thinking. You don't need to play 1 first.
@Timptation I know that the games have no connection like the earlier Final Fantasy games, but I would love to see the earlier games. I guess I have to get the PS2 version or the SNES one. I just would love to have the whole thing on one console like the Shantae series
@Ulanda I'm saying those ARE coming to Switch. There is no English version of the SNES part 1, so it would be extra work to make, and I'm guessing they feel that the remake version is enough. While I'd love an SNES version, I'd prefer seeing an HD version of the remake (Minstrel's Song) anyway, and I'm happy enough just to see most of the series in some form at all on Switch, if anywhere at all. This is a pretty niche series that I thought was as good as dead. Now if only my import copy of Frontier would hurry up and get here...

FF9 at the sale price is absolutely worth it. Just an excellent game, plenty of content - it just kept going, and I wasn't even finding everything! - but still not painfully long, lots of references to the older games but still unique and holds up on its own, more of a classic fantasy setting if you're into that but with lots of huge machines still.
It's definitely aged some, but once you get used to it, it's absolutely beautiful for a PS1 game. The pinnacle of that era, IMO.
But it'll definitely go on sale again, if you don't want to pull the trigger just yet.
Be sure not to miss out on the 8/10 Balan Wonderland 😆
Balan Wonderland shows so much promise, could have been great if it was delayed another year. If only Yuki Naka can do a No Man's Sky and keep on keeping working on it so that it will eventually be the game it can be...
@jump Agreed. Balan will be under $20 in under six months, easily, and still too expensive. I suspect it winding up in one of the rental or free to play services somewhere before the year is out.
Balan should come with a complimentary therepy session because anyone who buys it must suffer with self-loathing.
Romancing SaGa 2 Was $24.99, now £12.49
This would be a deal if I had pounds to spend.
Question is, why Final fantasy X is not on sale? Mmmh...🤔
This reminds me there's still no new FF Tactics on the horizon - not even the hope to get one...
So sad!
@Coxula have you tried project triangle strategy?
@Pti_batteur I've tried Octopath and... didn't like the game engine. Seems like Project Triangle shares the same engine. It's a bit stupid, I know. Especially because I'm a game mechanic purist and don't care about graphics too much. Maybe I'll give it a try somedays.
@Coxula you definitely should!
I loved the engine on octopath, but honestly I find it a bit weird on this game, things are not always very clear on the screen.
Nonetheless, the mechanics are great, the story seems great, and it clearly has the FF Tactics spirit in it.
Waiting for your impressions!
still too expensive for Balan Wonderworld
I got Theaterhythm for $4 physical
Square Enix should pay us $60 for Balan Wonderworld. Not the other way around.
@Beaucine XII on the Switch has performance hiccups.
@Toy_Link normal people don't demand the price to be lowered [further] unless they intend to obtain and use the item. No game one is not in the market for can be "too expensive" for them by definition.
Oh wait, we're talking fans here, not people. Is that what you mean my blunder was? 😅
With so many games in my backlog already, especially long JRPGs... Though I'm mildly interested in Trials of Mana.. I'll likely keep waiting until it drops to like $15 or $20 CDN which seems more appropriate to me.
If they'd just release the original localized Seiken Densetsu 3 SNES version of the game separately for that same amount, instead of it being locked in that Collection of Mana Square put out, I'd probably get it that way too.
Ah, Balan wonderworld...lets all fly to the e-shop lol!
I'm so sure people will be dying to get Balan at a discount... NOT.
@Timptation Sigh... I was afraid of that. Guess I have to learn Japanese then
And I bet, no one here, who talks bad about Balan, actually played it by himself.
I paid 55€ for the physical PS5 version and don't regret that.
