Square Enix will be airing a special "UG Shibuya FES" live stream of the first episode of The World Ends With You: The Animation later this week on 14th March.
Ahead of this, it's released the third trailer for the upcoming anime adaptation, which is based on the original 2007 Nintendo DS title. Here's a look along with the synopsis:
"Neku awakens in the middle of Shibuya’s bustling Scramble Crossing with no memory of how he got there. Little does he know he’s been transported to an alternate plane of existence known as the Underground (UG). Now an unwilling participant in the mysterious “Reapers’ Game,” Neku must partner up with a girl named Shiki in order to survive. Together, they complete missions and defeat monsters known as “Noise” as they gradually uncover the true nature of this twisted Game."
Following next week's screening, The World Ends With You: The Animation will premiere in Japan on 9th April.
Last November, Square Enix also announced a follow-up to the original DS game for the Nintendo Switch. It's expected to arrive at some point in 2021. Learn more in our original post.

have to play the first one some time it sounds like there really great and fun games so.
Please be good.
PLEASE do the story and characters justice.
A lot of people will be viewing the TWEWY IP for the first time through this anime, so I want this to be the best anime possible.
It’s one of my favourite games of all time (the DS release, both ports have been major disappointments) but I can’t really get excited for this. Never been a fan of anime based on properties which I’ve already experienced the story for, as they tend to be inferior to the source material. I suppose I’ll put my eggs in Neo’s basket.
I thought I’d never see the day for a sequel of this masterpiece... and in top of that an anime. I’m so happy
Will this be subbed?
@Not-Geno The special screening probably won't but when it premieres in April it will
Look, this is a Top 5 games of all time game for me. But this looks like a really low-rent application, like they just grabbed screen caps from the game and added some really basic (and ugly) animations to it. I'm worried.
This game really resonated with me so I do hope they do the anime justice. I haven't played since the DS version was released so I have forgotten most of the details in the story which means I at least won't be comparing it to the game when I get a chance to watch it. Looking forward to that.
