Apex Legends Launches On Nintendo Switch This March

Nice, but I stopped playing it a year ago on pc.

Considering the original release of Apex was out of nowhere with zero prior marketing on the other platforms, I wouldn't be surprised if it just appeared on Switch on the 2nd when Season 8 starts.

February 2 is gonna be a partner showcase.

Second month of the new year is upon us. And there's still no news from any third-party devs for the Switch.

Yes, yes, we know, it will come out next tuesday along with a partner showcase. Well, I hope so at least! XD

@Little_Squee What? We've got TONS of third party news for Switch (BD2, Monster Hunters, NMH3, SMTV, Rune Factory 5, Ys IX, Neo:TWEWY,...). What we DON'T have are news about first party games! Lol

This is far to fast paced to be locked at 30FPS and the cuts needed to get it running at 60fps on Switch will make this look like a ps3 game.
Not sure how the lower frame rate is going to impact cross play as Switch players will definitely have a disadvantage vs those on other systems.

This will be the ultimate test of whether EA has the real capabilities and knowledge of porting their games over to the Switch. So far, they've just been banking off of lazy FIFA copy-and-pastes.

As seen with Fortnite, the reduced frame rate and rendering distance has clearly put the Switch players at a pretty big disadvantage, hence the reason for the change of console matchmaking to mobile matchmaking.

I would like to see an option to go for Performance and an option for Quality, like in Rocket League and Control. I also wouldn't mind PS3/Xbox 360-level graphics, because they still look gorgeous compared to some of the crappier ports we've gotten.

At launch, probably. But overtime, I'd like to think that they would start making improvements as they go along and actually make it work on the Switch

It runs poorly on the ps4 pro.

Like NOW.
I play it on the ps5 now and it runs pretty well - not perfect.

That's scary to hear. It sounds a lot worse than PUBG on consoles.

But, I'll remain optimistic for now. I'd imagine they have a very different mindset when porting it to the Switch.

I do have my fingers crossed for this game. Mind you, it doesn't usually end that well if you have to cross them at all lol.

@the_beaver Totally agree with you on first-party titles. But these aren't the third party that, at least, I hoped for. I expected something like Nier, MGS, Switch based Resi, Mass Effect (I know it's not coming to Switch)...

Now if that gives buyers a Physical option that would be even better.

Apex Legends is free-to-play. The only "physical edition" we'd be getting is something that includes special cosmetics and the game would be featured in a download code within the box. In other words, it's digital only.

So no cross progress then? sucks but I will wait.

I hoped it would come in february... But it this means that the game will be polished by launch, it´s fine by me.

yeah I prefer the game to look its best and would rather have them take their time and do it nicely.

Also, Panic Button is porting the game so I have high hopes for this port.

EA is finally doing something nice for switch owners by giving us 30 free levels for Season 8.

No interest in playing any game of this type but I am interested to see the quality of the port.

Knowing Panic Button have been involved suggests it will look and play fine if you have realistic expectations.

I want them to take their time on this so it be a great port for many people.

I expect 30 fps. Which should be VERY stable hopefully.

It concerns about Mass Effect.

If this is true, we won't be getting it on the same day as other consoles. File size for one is an issue.

But for now, I am excited to play Apex in March

In light of the recent release date announcement, I hope there's some bit of gameplay to see how well it runs on the Switch.

@GrailUK as much as I want to see apex come today, I feel Respawn, EA and Panic Button made the right decision to move it to March 9th.

I would like to see a quality port not a rushed one

EA is doing something nice for switch owners.

What I really want from EA is NHL, Madden and Mass Effect trilogy on Switch.

@JR150 I really do wish we had cross progress I'm at level 30 on the ps4 bc I thought I would be able to transfer I gusse I'm just going to have to have to diffrent profiles.

@liljmoore Forget about that. There won´t be general Directs anymore. Nintendo will announce their games when they feel they are ready to do it, the same way Paper Mario OK, Pikmin 3 DX and Hyrule Warrios AoC did.
I expect to see a Zelda Direct by march-april, though, focused in the 35th anniversary (hopefully with a release date of the Zeldas HD and a trailer of BotW 2). And, of course, more Partners and Indies Showcases. But that´s about it.

The next EA game to get a release date should be Lost in Random! That game looked awesome, and it´s been a long time since we don´t have news about it.

@Dman10 @the_beaver depending on when Lost in Random releases, it most likely won't be part of the 7 games line up.

Remember its the next 12 months, so it ends around May. If it doesn't arrive around that period it will come later this year.

So instead of Lost in Random, we might other games until May.

If it is, it will probably come out after May 14th.

Given what we saw with Rocket League, I will be very happy if we're give a "Performance" option for 60fps low resolution and "Quality" option for 30fps higher resolution.

As a PC player of this, looking forward to March 9th. Been wanting this on my Switch just to be able to play it away from my PC. One of the few BR games I like.

Ik a guy in a discord server who works with EA and he told me that Panic Button is working on the port ahead of time.

He also said some very interesting things about the switch in general.

He revealed to him earlier on that Panic Button is helping with the port.

Why can't EA ask Panic Button or other good porting studios to port like almost all of their games to nintendo switch?
