That Keeper of Lust remix is straight FIRE
Also nice to know Joker's canon name isn't Ren or Akira. It's just
"protagonist"
Welcome home! Time to shoot more things and get into more relationships!
I want to play this game so bad...but it's almost like playing MGS2 before playing the original MGS. You're missing out on so much context from the original game...
Ok, ok Altus! You’ve already convinced me of getting the deluxe edition on Switch. No need for any more trailers.
Wish the preorder bonus was better in the UK, would like the steel book but all we get is the enamel badge
Probably wouldn’t be as excited for this game if I didn’t cave into playing royal recently.. I just couldn’t wait anymore with 0 signs or hope that this will come to the switch. That being said I’ve already pre ordered and secured that steel book!! I’m most excited for everything atlus this year!
Super excited for this. Pre-ordered the Switch version with the steelbook (which is now also being offered for the PS4 version, for those interested). These Warriors sequels/spinoffs have been getting super impressive lately, and this one, in particular, seems like it's a big evolution of that style of game design altogether.
@Zoda_Fett Ditto, my dude. This is looking like an amazing year to be an Atlus fan.
@Ralizah @Zoda_Fett I assume you’re in the US to get the steel book?
@ozwally Yes. Steelbook is US exclusive and also only from Best Buy
@ozwally Yep. Always sucks when these pre-orders goodies are limited to specific regions.
@TheFrenchiestFry thanks, was holding off preordering in case a retailer offered it, guess I’ll just preorder with the enamel badge
@Ralizah yeah it’s a shame, the steel book looks pretty decent and wouldn’t have minded one
@Bizzyb Honestly it's not nearly as bad
Most of Strikers' references to P5 are very surface level, like comparing the Jails to Palaces for example, or party members reminding you it's been half a year since the original game
They probably toned down on explicitly referencing P5 knowing they were developing the game for platforms that P5 itself is not on
@TheFrenchiestFry
Better to skip it altogether though if you haven’t played P5 though since major story spoilers are bound to pop up. Would be better for them to just port Royal or Vanilla to switch and pc and sell it in addition. Arena spoiled the main story of 4 so it will happen.
@GameOtaku I can partially agree on that but positioning P5S about half a year later also gives it way more of a standalone feel in terms of narrative compared to the Arena games, of which the first one took place like a month or two after P4, while Ultimax started immediately after Arena, and Persona Q is basically completely reliant on your knowledge of P3-5, their characters and their stories since they're driven by fanservice
P5S barely brings up Persona 5 explicitly outside some minor references that don't really spoil anything from the game for those who haven't played it. The biggest spoiler is probably Lavenza in the Velvet Room because she shows up in that form closer towards P5's endgame but it's not like she's that much of a focus in the game's story either. She's basically filling in for Igor's role in the other games, and that's all that's really required of her
It also helps that the story is squarely focused on the Persona 5 crew since P4A also had the added barrier of losing context on why people like Mitsuru, Aigis and Akihiko were hanging out with the Investigation Team for those who didn't play Persona 3 or any of its subsequent versions
darn no royal content here, a little weird canonically, but i am here for it
@TheFrenchiestFry
But you can’t say with any level of confidence that it won’t spoil any major plot lines as the game goes on.
@GameOtaku Yes I can, because I played the game in Japanese lol
I already know where the story goes. I imported a Switch copy when it came out in Japan
Looking forward to to playing it but not sure if I want to get it on PS4 or Steam. Not going to get the switch version because it is a fast action game and I want to have the higher frames for it
Still getting this on Switch despite not playing P5. I really enjoyed HW and FE Warriors, so Ill enjoy the actual gameplay. Atlus really needs to port P5 to Switch and PC already.
@Ralizah really hope that persona anniversary brings us something cool for the switch; if not we still have nocturne, smt5, and hopefully something from the TMS/devil survivor director... atlus really has our wallets this year already 😰
@TheFrenchiestFry How did you feel about the game?
@Zoda_Fett Probably the best Persona spinoff since the Arena games. Its story is nothing to write home about and it doesn't reach the amount of depth or nuance that the numbered entries do at their best, and I can see a few people having to adjust to the lack of time management elements or the omission of Confidants/Social Links, but it's ultimately just a more streamlined take on Persona's gameplay. The combat is fantastic in that in that it's not nearly as rewarding for hacking n' slashing as most musou games are and really takes advantage of the Persona elements like weakness exploitation, ambushing Shadows to get player advantages at the start of fights, and a proper levelling system akin to the core RPGs.
At around 40 hours it's obviously lacking in the sheer breadth and density of the content you'd expect from the numbered entries, but it's still a really good example of how the musou formula can be merged successfully with another license without losing the identity of either one
