Listen. We know McDonald's Happy Meals are meant for kids, but when they come with new Pokémon toys, can you blame us for taking a look?
The fast-food giant has collaborated with Pokémon on numerous occasions – last doing so in 2019 – and a new U.S promotion seems set to land this February. It's not been formally confirmed by McDonald's, but as is often the case, photos have found their way online early.
From what we can see, this looks like another tie-in to Pokémon's 25th-anniversary celebrations. Each Happy Meal will contain 4 Pokémon trading cards across different regions, ranging from Pikachu to Scorbunny. Those will be accompanied by card sleeves, booklets, and stickers.
Spotted by@PkmnTrainerAbel and @PokéJungle, you can see the full details below.
We'll need to wait on McDonald's for further details. Previously though, these events have gone on for over a month, so we expect there will be plenty of opportunities to check this out.

So they’ll go back to generation 7 for this promotion?
Edit: no wait, that’s definitely scorbunny.
So having simple printed materials rather than a lot of plastic toys that often end up in the trash, that's a good way to do it.
Trading cards are always a great thing to do, but I wonder how they'll distribute them. At McDonalds it's often the case that they'll just let you buy the individual toys you're looking for, providing that they're in stock, and what stock is being offered that week.
Consumerism! Yeah!
would rather have the plastic toys
@Mr_Persona
Then buy them. The ones you can get from toy manufacturers are going to be much better quality and value than those added to happy meals.
And much less likely to end up as waste in a landfill.
@Eel Grookie and Sobble are also on the top right (though I didn't notice any Gen 8 at first either!)
Probably gonna be like a return to most beloved pokemon for the 25th anniversary
Even with all of the issues that Sword and Shield has, you can't deny that the Pokemon designs are great.
I'd like to grab those promo cards.
@RupeeClock I know l own a lot already. I'm just saying that because it's a better choice for them to do and not have stickers and cards.
I'm really on-board with McDonalds Pokemon Card promotions. Having toy promotion is fun, but a lot of the time, the little plastic toys just end up in carboot bargain bins and landfill.
The cards on the other hand seemed great beause they're just card with a cool piece of art on.
I didn't even realise the last promotion was on, so I hope if this comes to the UK we get some sort of heads up.
Now that I look at them, these are all just cards you can pick up in other boosters without the promo stamp. It'd be way cooler if they were unique to the promotion, especially since it's an anniversary celebration.
I rarely visit McDonald's and find many of their promotions laughable at best, but at least legit cards are a step in the right direction.
Their toys though....Either they've dropped in quality since I was a kid, or I'm just wearing rose-colored glasses.
I wouldn't go there just for a promo but hey if I get a Happy Meal sometime be nice to get some cards
stares in inkling while holding a nintendo switch
First Burger King with Nintendo toys, now McDonald's with Pokemon. I've got my food cut out for me.
