A Hat in Time developer Gears for Breakfast is teaming up with FrogVibes to release the "cozy" 3D platformer Here Comes Niko! on the Switch.
In the game, you'll play the titular Niko has he answers a job advertisement for the role of "professional friend". During the game, Niko travels across 6 scenic islands making pals, fishing, solving puzzles and catching bugs – as well as much, much more. No wonder it's described by its creators as the "most laid back adventure of your life".
Here Comes Niko is also coming to Steam, but there's no solid release date as yet.

This looks fun! Not an adventure to stop some all powerful world ending boss, but instead to just relax and enjoy some fun activities
This looks so good! Loved Hat in Time, let's just hope for a better optimized Switch port this time.
Paper Mario vibes!
LOL
That handsome face from the frog at the last minute. 😂
That has got to be the cutest game I have ever seen. This intrigued me.
Interesting idea concept, and A Hat in Time is one of my (if not my overall) favorite indie games of all time, so I'll for sure check it out.
I love A Hat in Time and this one looks like it could be really fun as well. The art style is great.
I love Hat in Time. This looks like it's going to be another great 3D platformer. There's been so many great 3D platformers on Switch. The more, the merrier.
Visually it looks terrible, but I'll wait and see more gameplay before I decide properly...
You had me at 3D platformer but then the Paper Mario rip off trailer really lowered my interest.
A Hat in Time is my 2nd Favorite game ever on the switch(the first is breath of the wild) and I have put over 80 hours into the game so I'm super hyped to play this it looks like Paper Mario or Bug Fables
HELL YEAH, wow just yesterday night I was thinking to myself "Hey I wonder if the A Hat In Time developers are working on something new" and there it is!
If anyone wants me to think of another developer tonight to get a new game from them, hit me up!
Though I’ve never played A Hat In Time, I think this game is gonna be really good, and I might just buy it
If it’s even a quarter as good as A Hat In Time this game will be amazing
Okay but like the guys face when he said forgetaboutit! 😂✋🏼
Honestly I'm just extremely happy to discover there is a studio called "FrogVibes"!
Looks cute! Definitely keeping an eye on this.
now if this had a second half were the zombie invasion happens and blood everywhere id be in lol
Gears for Breakfast's Twitter says that they are only co-producers on this game FYI. Frog Vibes seems to be taking the lead development role on this one
I... wut? Huh?
adds more junk to meet arbitrary minimum character requirement
I'm glad this developer has come around to working on Nintendo systems.
@Ogbert ... well that explains all the frogs in the environment shown that I was wondering about, now XD
Liked A Hat in Time, but really not feeling the cutout style characters. Environments look good though.
@quinnyboy58 aside from the flat characters this feels very different from paper Mario
Looks fantastic. I like whimsy and charm. Another to add to the wishlist.
Personally a big fan of the art style. Looks really crisp, full of personality, and pretty interesting for a 3D platformer!
This looks really good and loaded with personality. The frog after the "credits" sold me.
who didn't want to run the sandwich shop, the frog or kid?
I sure will be adding this to wishlist as the trailer asks. Granted, it may not mean much from someone with a literally over-two-thousand item wishlist on Switch, but still. The first impression is not entirely unlike a whacky love child of A Hat in Time and Animal Crossing.
Looks cool, I actually dig the blend of 2-D/3-D. Doesn't always look the best but the aesthetic really works here, probably saves on a ton of resources too.
By the way, did they ever patch the Switch port of Hat in Time? Or is it still a bit of a mess?
Not a fan of those NPCs.
This looks like it would have been great on 3DS.
Definitely Not for me, looks really annoying to me.
The combination of the 2D sprite and the camera perspectives even with the shadow it looks like you won't even be able to tell where you're going to land.
The art direction of the furries creep me out =(
Extra furry and extra LGBT friendly version of Animal Crossing?
I suppose it couldn't hurt!
> In the game, you'll play the titular Niko has he answers a job
Just a heads up, the devs confirmed in their official Discord that the main character is non-binary so it should be they/them, not he.
Not a huge fan of the clashing of 2d characters and 3d everything else. However, outside of that it looks like a really fun game.
