It's that time of year once again where companies are revealing stats of this and that. On the YouTube front, it's all about what's been watched the most.
In terms of video games, Minecraft is still the top dog - with the game being viewed on the platform 201 billion times throughout the year. Roblox was in second place with 75 billion views, Garena Free Fire third with 72 billion views, Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto V followed with 70 billion views and in fifth place was Fortnite with 67 billion views.
Minecraft was also in the top spot as the most-watched "live" game of 2020. Garena Free Fire was in second, Fortnite in third, GTAV in fourth and PUBG Mobile in fifth place. Some of the biggest video game events taking place on YouTube this year included Minecraft Live, Ubisoft Forward and Fortnite's collaboration with Travis Scott.
Did you watch any of these games or events on YouTube this year? Leave a comment down below.

I would have never guessed.
suprised fortnight isnt rank 1.
I have absolutely no idea what Garena Free Fire is.
@nessisonett Same, never even heard of it. I find it amazing a game can be so popular, with so many people not even knowing what it is.
I contributed quite a bit to the Minecraft views, and watched Minecraft Live. Also watched Ubisoft forward, but on twitch
I guess Triple H will be sad about this
"Did you watch any of these games or events on YouTube this year?"
My answer : NO !!
I would rather watching Portal Knights / Dragon Quest Builders 2 from Youtube for way much better aesthetic looking than Minecraft.
@MasterJay I watched that gig in Minecraft during the first lockdown with Charli XCX, 100 gecs, Dorian Electra and more. That was pretty wild.
Honestly, it's not surprising that the top two most viewed games were Minecraft and Roblox. My eleven-year-old nephew and seven-year-old niece are constantly watching videos of those two games.
Am I the only person on this website that legitimately enjoys and knows anything about Roblox?
Btw: If for some reason you have any questions on Roblox, feel free to reply to me.
please, I'm lonely.
YouTube has a habit of labeling things Minecraft when they aren't, but that's likely negligible.
Nice to see that minecraft is still going strong
@Musharna pleasantly so πππ
Surprised that Among Us didn't make the list since it was (and annoyingly still is) everywhere
@NGNYS What i also never quite got about that argument:
Even if it's "just" a port...there's a big chance that it's the games first release on a handheld platform as well.
It's not just a console port for another console.
It's a console game potentially reaching a new audience, in this case, Nintendo's avid handheld gamers.
At the end of the day, people will complain about everything anyways.
people be horny for them blocks man
"bUt wHO WanTs stEVe iN sMasH?"
If you could play only one game for the rest of your life Minecraft would not be a bad choice.
There is a lot of stuff you can do with that game, I'm not really someone who spends too much time on a single game, but I definitely can see the appeal now that I have played it.
Minecraft is simply one of the best creations in gaming.
@Musharna
I guess because just watching fortnite isn't so interesting as its really always the same setting while its quite enjoyable to see what creations people come up in miecraft.
Gotta say, Microsoft might really have invested right here.
That's 201 billion views per child right? It sure seems like it in my house. Who says children have short attention spans?
Can't remember the last time I watched a video on YouTube over about a minute all the way through.
Funny how video game dunkey implemented this in his "new strategyβ.
Iβve never seen the appeal of it but Iβm generally not a big fan of games where you build stuff (e.g. Mario Maker).
I think it may have something to do with the fact that big-name YouTubers like Markiplier and jacksepticeye started playing them again this year.
Just a shame that Markiplier can't drink anymore, because I would love to see more Drunk Minecraft.
@Musharna Happy Fortnite isn't #1
Huh, I thought maybe Among Us would be top dog.
Maybe I should start doing MC videos... nobody watches my classic DOS lets plays.
