Bandai Namco Brings Family Trainer For Switch To Japan This December

It looks like a water downed ver of wii fit adventure.

Wasn't Family Trainer the Japanese name for some Power Pad stuff, too? I seem to remember Athletic World, Stadium Events and Dance Aerobics having "Family Trainer" somewhere on the packaging.

Wish they would do RingFit minigames.

They should have made Splatterhouse 2.5D

I wish they would localise Neko Tomo already (the cat-centric sequel to Teddy Together).

Used to own this on the Wii!

It came with a game mat plugable into the Wii console.

Fun game with the family, if flawed. The game mat required a flat, hard surface.

Minus the wii version game mat, it may become a generic experience however.

Wii Fit Plus and Wii Fit U were much more fun admittedly. As is Ring Fit

If I want to play a video game, I want to do it sitting down and not move from my sofa...

@Yanina Seriously, that would be such a huge incentive to buy Ring Fit, if more games released for the peripheral. Really just fun additional downloadable minigames, if you own one and Ring Fit could become like a one-stop shop for all your workout needs. Right now, i'm curious about Ring Fit Adventure, but it's just this one game, right? And if i don't like it, then what? I'm not into turn-based RPGs, so i can't imagine myself enjoying it. Luckily ARMS does help get a slight workout in, when it's an otherwise lazy day.

Goodness, could they have put any less effort into the visuals? I think I'll stick with my Wii Family Trainer for now, thanks.

@Sabrewing That's correct; according to Wikipedia, "Family Trainer" was actually the Japanese name for the Power Pad itself. (And, it was marketed by Bandai in Japan, rather than by Nintendo.)

And, as for why Stadium Events might have mentioned "Family Trainer" somewhere on its packaging: Bandai published that game — which was originally titled "Running Stadium" in Japan — under the name "Stadium Events" in Europe and also briefly in North America (just 1987 through 1988, according to Wikipedia) under that name, alongside their floor-mat peripheral... which they marketed under the name "Family Fun Fitness" in those regions. But shortly afterwards, Nintendo licensed both the peripheral and that game to publish them themselves in the North American region, and rebranded them with the new names "Power Pad" and "World Class Track Meet" (respectively) in that region. This is the reason why the Bandai-published/pre-rebranding North American version of "Stadium Events" is one of the rarest NES cartridges.

I like fitness games, but between Fitness Boxing, RingFit Adventure, Jump Rope Challenge, and the upcoming Fitness Boxing 2 (which I’m really excited for), I think I will have enough for this system.

Awesome, this looks great. I'm glad someone else decided to make a game with the leg strap. I'm always up for a good new exercise type game.

@AZD1222 That's one of the great things about video games. They make a lot of different kinds for different people.

Did not expect Outdoor Challenge of all games to get an HD remake.

For some reason, this reminds of Outdoor Challenge, since it's a Fitness game, and is made by Bandai Namco, that would that be cool if that got re-released.

I played this a decent amount on the Wii when it first came out, so this is really cool, and makes me happy.
