It might not be the next Zelda epic or Mario platforming masterpiece, but we're feeling pretty excited to get our hands on Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics this summer. The original was great fun on Nintendo DS and we can't wait to get stuck into some multiplayer games with friends and family on Switch.
Now there's even more reason to be excited, though, as Nintendo has revealed that a number of Mario characters will be making an appearance in the game. You'll find them in special Mario-themed card decks in a number of games such as Texas Hold’em, Matching, and Speed.
As you can see, it appears that you'll have to unlock these special decks rather than be granted access to them straight away. We're sure it'll be worth the effort; anything becomes instantly more fun when Mario's face is plastered all over it, right?
Looking forward to this one? Tell us below.

So Tatanga is confirmed, then?
Why shy away from an opportunity to propagate your brand assets, aye? :3
Didn't see Waluigi, don't care.
On paper this sounds like a game that I would avoid....but the trailers actually look decent?
Maybe I'll buy it on sale, as an only child that had no friends I definitely have some catching up to do 😂
I really wish the shooting range (which is clearly adapted from the Wii Play game) has an option for straight-up Duck Hunt mode, as the Wii Play version of the game was clearly based on the original Duck Hunt with similar looking ducks from the original game occasionally flying by.
I loved loved loved the original and I think I’m actually more hyped for this than I was Animal Crossing (which I was super hyped for).
@RazumikhinPG 8 seconds into the clip in the bottom left corner.
@RazumikhinPG look closer (0:07)
This seems more like what I wanted WiiPartyU to be like. Missed opportunity bringing the arcade cocktail machine experience home with that one.
No Wart? Sorry, not happening. We need to start an internet hashtag to protest this travesty!
In all seriousness, this looks solid for like $15 maybe.
@Sonicvic @BigBluePanda could hardly tell from that 240p video. Thanks! Faith in humanity restored.
I got addicted to playing the card game "President" in the original Clubhouse Games years ago. I had never even heard of that card game before.. So to me, it kind of makes sense, as everyone knows that Mario is the ACTUAL President of Nintendo. 😃👍
I'm buying this soon at the price it's at. If my beautiful face is on one of these decks then it's day one.
Loved the original and already have this pre-ordered.. Can't wait ro play this and Xenoblade!
I knows Nintendo has their reasons for staggering releases of games but I can’t help but think sales would triple if they brought them out under lockdown. See also Xenoblade.
@Pod That too, but the game will need just a little spicing up as did the first one. The DS original was functional and all, but the music and some animations were so incredibly BLAND.
I never did get this on DS, but given Nintendo's history, this might be awesome.
They need to tell us how much of the game we can play online. That's a key feature for this game !
Really looking forward to this. I never played the original but I know for sure I'm going to love it. I hope they get the online part right,if they do I'll get a lot out of it.
@RupeeClock Tatanga, Dr Tatanga, and Dr Goomba Tower
Hopefully "unlocking" means that the Stamp and Mission modes will be back for this new version. Those challenges were so fun in the original, especially if you had to play by yourself. They definitely kept you playing.
@Nintendzoey
That's an odd way to spell Bowser.
I'm getting this for the volume and variety on offer.
@Kimyonaakuma Why on paper doesn't it seem like something you'd avoid?
@Tibob Hopefully most or all.
That’s a cool bonus. Glad I have this game preordered.
Weren't the Mario characters' cameos shown off in the initial reveal?
@justin233 There's apart of me that's interested but overall, it mostly just seems like a collection of old board & card games I can play for free on a laptop or phone.
Can you tell me what it does to set itself apart from other classic game compilations because I'm fond of these kind of games but I wouldn't want to pay $40-$60 for it.
@Elvie It’s the only one that has that Nintendo charm. It’s also only $40 instead of $60 and can be played on the Switch instead of a phone or laptop (yuck).
@Deltath It seemed like one of those party game collections from the Wii that were cheap and rushed. But this seems pretty good!
@duffmmann even just a Duck Hunt skin?
And with this brand stamp, they confirm this game will never go on sale
I was already sold but having a digital version of the mario hanafuda set means I'm chomping at the bit to buy this.
@Tibob I THINK, every game but the ones that are specifically single player are online, which is why they had to say some aren't online because some are like, Solitaire.
@DockEllisD It's the Club Nintendo deck from 2006; goes for about $30-50 on eBay right now. I just checked mine and as far as i can tell from the low resolution on my terrible connection, all the cards they showed match.
@Tibob The Direct already told us, 44 of the games support online. The 7 not supported are probably the single player games.
I never knew I'd be so hyped for this game. Maybe I'm going crazy from staying inside for weeks on end, but I can't wait for this one!!
@KingBowser86
I get it, and it's quite what I expect from Nintendo. :3
I enjoyed the thorough Nintendo theme in Tetris DS, and very much so the Nintendo category on Picross DS.
Although, I think it got a little too imposing and nonsensical for most outsiders with NintendoLand. ^^
@Pod NintendoLand was supposed to be like a theme park (ha, can't believe they saw that vision through), though. It was supposed to be kitschy.
The other instances you pointed out where they flavored were just as fine.
@KingBowser86
Oh yeah, no complaints from me.
Just NintendoLand was so extremely bizarre in its visual expression to most people I showed it to, as for it to hold no recognizable appeal in the first place, as a theme park or a Nintendo-IP showcase.
It was one for the fans, as they say. And the freinds of the fans, I suppose, as I did manage to have a bunch of regulars around for Luigi's Ghost Mansion and Sweet Day. ^^
@Grumblevolcano Thanks, I didn't catch that figure.
I already pre-purchased the game
@Tibob Iw as wondering the same thing but just saw a video going over the details. According to Gamexplain, the only games not available to play online are the 4 single player games as well as Slot Cars, Fishing and Team Tanks.
@DockEllisD how do you play hanafuda? I've been fascinated with the game but I don't know how to play.
@RazumikhinPG I believe there was Waluigi in on of the showcase videos, featured alongside Wario on one of the cards
