Dead by Daylight fans are in for a treat on 16th June - with Behaviour Interactive announcing it has teamed up with Konami's horror series, Silent Hill. This next paid DLC will add Cheryl (Heather) Mason as a survivor and Pyramid Head as a killer.
There'll also be a new map for all players (based on Midwich Elementary School), a new version of the Dead by Daylight theme by the Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka, and the addition of legendary skins - transforming the appearance of existing survivors. For example, Cheryl transforms into Lisa Garland.
Here's how the collaboration came about, according to game director Mathieu Cote:
We were already connected with some of the tentacles of Konami… They are the official publisher of the physical copy [of Dead by Daylight] in Japan. So we were connected to some of the people already
After a call, Cote said both parties realised this collaboration was the "perfect" crossover. So perfect, in fact, they barely had to change much:
In this case, we didn’t have to change much about how these [Silent Hill] characters act to make them fit well within our universe.

Awesome trailer, thanks Konami for letting them use the IP.
Well, I guess it's better than slot machines.
Surely it’s Heather, not Cheryl Mason? It is her Silent Hill 3 getup so shouldn’t it be Heather?
Dead by Daylight is kind of the perfect Multiplayer horror experience. Such a simple gameplay mechanic revolved around a wonderful cast of monsters. I am super excited for this crossover, and hopefully, it'll lead to more like this in the future.
@0rwellians0n They’ve lost the source code, no chance of proper remasters. If you want to play Silent Hill 2 in good HD, fans have released a remaster for PC that’s brilliant.
On one hand, good on Konami (for once) for using the Silent Hill property for something other than gambling. On the other hand though, Konami still needs to do more than this if they want an ounce of respect back.
@nessisonett Cheryl is her real name, Hearter is just a fake name she uses to run from the SH Cult.
Not really into dead by daylight, but would love an actual silent hill game.
@GASEOUS Heather is the reincarnation of Cheryl after the events of Silent Hill 1. They’re similar but distinct entities. Unless you’re referring to one of the spin-offs.
@nessisonett She herself mentions at the end of SH3 that her real name is Cheryl and that She will use it from there on cause there was anymore need of hiding it, It was the name that her father gave to her after all.
@nessisonett I thought calling her Cheryl instead of Heather was a great and clever way to pay tribute to SH3 and its ending
Really enjoy dead by daylight and will definitely jump in when this is released. Fun game.
Some days I think the worst thing to happen to silent hill is pyramid head. I mean that or modern konami.
@0rwellians0n Ahh, that’s a shame because the fan remaster uses the Windows version of the game, not the PS2 version which can be emulated on a Mac. If you know your way around Wine though, you could perhaps get a wrapper to work. Just depends how much time and effort you’re willing to put in!
Just in time for the new silent Hills on ps5 maybe
.... It doesn't make sense at all why pyramid head hunts down Cheryl instead of James. Sorry, but it disturbs me when they butcher the Silent Hill concept just because they want to use the most popular characters in the series
Run to the hills
In return, Konami gets a permanent license for Dead by Daylight pachinko machines.
@nessisonett u mean the enhanced edition?
On a PushSquare article there was a rumour of a return, that basically stated that Konami was letting the IP get used but doing 0 work and getting royalties. I guess this is along those lines, but it depends if any companies are prepared to negotiate with them for an actual new installment. Honestly, it would be much better for them to sell it, but they clearly won't.
@dimi Yeah, it’s brilliant and there’s a lot of effort clearly put in by people who care.
Behaviour Interactive is referring to her as Cheryl Mason, so I guess that's what she'll be officially known as in this DLC.
