The latest indie game to receive a physical edition on Switch is The Sexy Brutale, with a brand new release headed our way from Super Rare Games.
The physical release specialist will be releasing a limited number of physical copies on its official website, with pre-orders actually going live later this week at 6pm GMT on 16th April. Only 5,000 copies will be available in total; 4,000 are Standard Editions, coming with a 20-page full-colour manual, interior artwork, an exclusive sticker, and three trading cards, and the other 1,000 are Collector's Editions which include the following:
- 64 page artbook
- CD Soundtrack
- A3 poster
- Full pack of playing cards
- Full colour comic
- Complete set of trading cards
- Everything listed in the standard version
The game you'll find on the cartridge includes its latest patch which addresses performance issues found at launch. Speaking of that initial launch, feel free to read our full review of the game if you want to learn more. Here's a snippet:
As short-lived as the story is, The Sexy Brutale is still a standout murder mystery title. The stimulating 3D puzzle and adventure elements makes it one of the best within its genre. The chosen theme and locale is also the exact type of setting you want for a title built on intrigue, murder and mystery. If you’re more of a shoot first, ask questions later sort of player, this might not be for you, but for the type of person who enjoys a slower-paced but equally as rewarding game experience, this is a murder mystery worth looking into.

The bad technical performance REALLY put me off when I bought it on eShop back then. I wonder if they ever addressed that issue or they'll just ship it in that bad state again?
Nobody should buy this version. The switch runs it terribly.
Unless they plan on fixing the issues that still plague it, why bother?
I was going to check it out, but all the people saying it runs terribly has kinda scared me off.
@jobvd It may be slow loading rooms in to start with but that’s the only issue.
@CurryPowderKeg79 I reviewed it for Switch Player Mag and gave it 4.5/5. They’re way exaggerating slowdown which only occurred as you entered rooms but then was fine straight after.
Thanks for the info @olrodlegacy. I'm definitely going to try to snag me one of the physical copies then.
@Privatkatze did you read the whole article?
@jobvd did you read the whole thing?
@Res462 did you read everything?
@CurryPowderKeg79 read the whole article. They have patched the game.
@setezerocinco They patched it a lot of times and the game still runs like ****.
@olrodlegacy Pretty dumb and misleading that you would give this game 4.5 stars.
Yea @setezerocinco I know. I actually read the article after posting my O.G. post. I guess i should of read the article first.
@setezerocinco
From what I found as their quote to the last patch they put out—in 2018.
“We released a patch and we did our best to make it work. If you want to play it or not it is your choice.”
They haven’t fixed it.
Well one game to collect.
@CurryPowderKeg79
Unless there is a new patch coming that actually fixes the outstanding issues, the article had no new information. Sounds like it’s the same version currently on the eShop.
@Res462 Yeah, which addressed most of the launch problems. I played the game (...I could've sworn it was a physical copy) and didn't see anything worse than meh loading times and a few frame drops.
@link3710
People also said that the frame drops in the Link’s Awakening remake weren’t as bad as people were saying, but I found them jarring.
@Res462 I mean, LA had it pretty bad at times, I don't think any in this were as bad as that game
Edit: I'm also curious if the game performs significantly better in one mode. Did you play both or just portable or docked? I was solely portable.
$31.58 plus shipping. And it will be sold out in seconds. Seems like a no brainer to get the digital for $20 or cheaper when it will on an eshop sale.
Persona 5 looks different on Switch to how I remember.
@link3710
I’ve held off on buying it due to the issues the community said were present. When they announced the last patch was it, the feedback sounded like they hadn’t done enough, and the devs shrugged.
I have this digitally and don't remember having issues with the running of the game so I'm not sure if it was just I hadn't been to the area with issues but regardless I'm interested in this. Sadly there are too many LRG and SRG coming out right now so I'm not sure which ones I'm going to choose.
@link3710 it runs terribly compared to the other versions.
Technical issues aside, it doesn't look like a game I'd be interested in, so I'll be skipping this one.
I dunno, it just feels like PC would be much better suited for playing a game like this.
