12 million Switch units sold in Japan alone - almost as many units sold as the Wii U sold globally!
I'm planning to get RFA as well soon. Need to shave those post-Christmas calories xD
The fact that the Nintendo Switch Lite is vastly outselling the PS4 while the original Switch is vastly outselling the Lite is very interesting.
The HW bump is due to fear of shortages. Next week will be very tough to read, unfortunately (._. )
It´s curious that the Switch is now selling around 100.000 units per week, when last year was always around 50.000... We can see there how the Lite and Pokemon have helped improve the general performance of the system.
It’s worth noting that due to stock shortages, Ring Fit Adventure has become very difficult to obtain at a decent price, which will have affected sales. RRP models are nowhere to be found of Amazon, and used copies are selling for well over double the original price. The official Nintendo Store is also sold out and Mercari (basically Japanese eBay) paints a similarly pricey picture. I’m even surprised there were even 23,000 copies available to be sold. Nintendo released an apologetic statement explaining that corona virus has affected production, so it may be a while before we see stock reserves return to match the demand. But the demand really does seem high. I tried a demo at the Nintendo Store and was won over by it.
Between Switch OG and Lite, 100k units shifted in a week in February. Insane... I love it. Forget NintenDOOMED, NintenDOMINATION
100k switch in a week!
I hope the upcoming hardware shortage problem isn't too severe.
I love RFA, but wish the West got the digital version option. First world problems, but I am now daily switching between RFA and Octopath carts.
Why is the real Switch selling so much more than the Switch Lite in Japan? Do the Japanese not know, they are mainly handheld gamers? 🤔
This is the last week of decent/good OG Switch hardware supply.
Why does any retail in Japan still sale Xbox?
And with that 100k a week news.... the stock is down again....
@nintendork64 right. I was wondering if the Lite was meeting expectations.
So the 3rd (or 4th) NEW game the PS4 has charted in the top 10 in under 6 weeks of 2020. Every "2020" up there is on PS4.
Hope Persona 5 Scramble has a decent showing on Switch - at least top 10.
Dang, PS4 games have no legs at all. That's sad they sell so poorly in Japan. I guess Japanese don't fall for the hype. I like them people, they smart.
@MrBlacky I think because of the Corona Virus hampering Switch Lite manufacturing in China, most of the ones who are waiting for some decided it's best to just get the original model as there are more of those in retail than the Switch Lite.
@retro_player_22
Switch Lite supply is fine. The normal Switch supply is not, as next week's sales will show.
Switch hardware sales/supply aside, Animal Crossing New Horizons hype is approaching Pokemon levels in Japan. Retail + digital launch sales could be close to ~2 million, with digital accounting for up to 40% of total launch sales.
@retro_player_22
And Switch manufacturing is not affected? Also, I didn't know, the Corona virus is hampering Switch Lite production since three month ago. No, there must be other reasons.
Still loving Ring Fit 3 months in. It has turned into a long term fitness program for me. My shoulders hate it, but I like it.
@Agramonte
I love how you always come up with some imaginary PS4 sales "milestone" even thought it should be obvious to anyone with eyes that the Switch is the only relevant console in the region.
@westman98 every. single. time 😂
Awesome sales when you consider the Switch still has stock issues in Japan.
@Hagemaru 😉
@westman98 I see Animal Crossing is currently top 10 on the European eShop, preorders alone. It’s gonna be massive.
Good for Granblue. It's a very interesting series. I wish they'd bring the RPG version to Switch at some point.
@westman98 and that makes even less sense that publishers still relying on a 7 year old ”irrelevant” console to notch sales into the books halfway into the quarter.
Like I said - happy to extend that “imaginary milestone” If it happens with Diva or Scramble next few weeks... and not just Anima Crossing and yet another Pokémon game.
@westman98 It’s guaranteed...week in, week out, without fail. We know what’s coming. Oh and a sly dig at Ring Fit/Pokemon as a side order.
@WiltonRoots
"Ring Fit is not a reAl game, why not jusT play fifa while jogging in plAce??"
@westman98 "I play something else on the GO..."
