Last month, EA's COO Blake Jorgensen said the company had more plans for the Switch and was "always" communicating with Nintendo about what else it could bring to the hybrid system. Other EA representatives have made similar comments in the past, but so far we've only seen games like Unravel Two and watered-down versions of FIFA.
If Electronic Arts does plan to roll out more games on Nintendo's latest hardware, where's the proof? According to the Youtuber Doctre81, who has made a name for himself sifting through LinkedIn profiles, rumours about the third-party giant bringing its Frostbite engine to the Switch could still be a thing.
EA's Motive Studios is seeking a Rendering Engineer to work on a "beloved and revered" IP and requires an individual who has experience with multiple platforms including the Nintendo Switch. Further below this description is a list of expectations. Here's the key one:
Develop in the Frostbite Engine creating leading technologies for games around the globe.
So, just to clarify – EA is seeking a rendering engineer who has experience with multiple platforms, including the Switch, and requires them to "develop" in the Frostbite engine – an engine that doesn't even support Nintendo's system. EA's previous Switch releases, like FIFA 20, are running on a custom-made engine. If EA did add Switch support to Frostbite, it would open the door to various other games and superior iterations of its long-running football series.
Doctre81 is perhaps best known for uncovering a job listing on GOG.com referencing the Nintendo Switch, prior to the official reveal of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition for the system.
Would you like to see the Frostbite engine support the Nintendo Switch? What other games would you like to see from EA? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

That won't stop EA from releasing FIFA 19: 2nd Anniversary Remastered Edition this holiday season as "FIFA 21", that is, if they should deign to release a new FIFA installment at all this year.
Leave it to the Doc to find these things.
Good for those who're still fans of DICE.
I can usually take a joke especially if it's April fools but this tactless tweet from the devs https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-04-02-ea-apologises-for-frostbites-stupid-anti-nintendo-april-fool still left a bad taste in my mouth. So I'm actually expecting zero things from this. Props to Moore though.
More power to DICE regardless.
Yey more fifa
I can see EA wanting to port Apex Legends to the Switch but not the rest of Respawn’s games. It’s on the way.
Maybe they're just covering all bases with the Switch mention, just in case they decide to go there. A bit like how we will ask for SSIS experience when looking for database programmers, even though we don't use it much just yet... but might at some point. So, just because they mention the Switch, it doesn't necessarily mean that there is a solid plan.
Doc on the case again!
No thanks EA, keep your trash to yourself
Well EA will surely be making a new engine for next-gen PS/Xbox, hopefully it can work for Switch also.
Most likely it's for Switch Pro. The new console won't run in 4K or perform better but the new Nvidia chip will have better looking graphics.
Nvidia Volta is built for AI and machine learning, imagine what Nintendo can do with it? More intelligent games, with human-like AI behaviour or even learn from you and beat you with your own strategy. Maybe those procedural generated levels will look totally unique?
Haven’t bought an EA game in years. I don’t particularly like them as a company, their watered down Nintendo games or their massive focus on micro transactions.
It’s a possibility. We want the best games and I want a proper FIFA. FIFA is a good footy game on Switch it’s just that it isn’t a new game and this would give us a better chance of having the real deal.
"New hope?" More like no hope.
Dead space... Dead space... Dead space... Oh please...
A full scale FIFA I’d be interested in. When I say interested I mean I’d put it on my wish list with the other hundred or so games and wait for a killer sale.
More Sports games would be very welcome
Probably not going to happen.
Battlefield!!!
Don't care EA....I just don't care
I mean. Even if a lot of us wouldn't want anything to do with EA, you can't deny the juggernaut that they are when it comes to making games that appeal to the masses if sales of CoD and FIFA are anything to go by. So even if most of us here won't be getting these games on Switch, a lot of other people probably will and it will only be a good thing in the end.
Though I'm certainly not gonna buy any EA game anytime soon either.
How about this: Just ask Panic Button to port games.
They probably wanna optimize Frostbite for more future FIFA half-arsed releases.
I want sports games. Unless Nintendo is bringing back Kobes Courtside to honour Bryant than I'd like some EA sports please.
but so far we've only seen Unravel Two and watered-down versions of FIFA.
Also Fe
heh, more like the frostBiteMe engine.
"Beloved franchise..." does that mean something they can suck money out of?
Would love a port of any of the old good Battlefield games. The series took a dump around Battlefield 3 and has had rampant diarrhea ever since.
Jorgensen. He also stated he didn't want to bring games to Switch because he didn't want to "compete with Nintendo's first party software". If you're that worried your games won't sell then it's not someone else's quality you should be concerned with, it's your own. Plus with how anti-developer Frostbite is the gaming community shouldn't support any games made with it. That's the entire reason for Bioware's downfall, something only EA could have accomplished.
@sixrings the lack of Madden on switch and PC is mind boggling.
I just want mass effect trilogy on switch. Loved me3 on my wiiu
EA is so full of it, that it isn't even funny anymore. They've been developing and supporting mobile versions of the Frostbite engine for years now, so if they can support smart devices, they could have EASILY supported the Switch. It might not be the full fat version of the engine, but it's definitely not impossible to put Frostbite on Switch, so as usual, they're talking out of their backsides.
With anything EA, I’ll believe it when I see it.
@FredsBodyDouble the fact that the NFL won't let Midway publish Blitz is mind blowing.
NFL probably wants the same as MLB and NBA in the States. Their games need to be on every big platform.
After Jedi: fallen Order and Apex you think they just realize they need to give up on this engine for everything.
Amazing what EA can do when they smell the MONEY!! if the switch would of flopped it would be oh the machine isn’t up to it.
Watch nothing happens.
At least EA is not begging for Nintendo’s money this time around.
If this is true EA please bring Star Wars: Fallen Order to Nintendo Switch. Am thrust to play a good Star Wars game that isn't a Lego game.
Just give me NFS on Switch. Underground 2 Remastered or Heat. I just want NFS on Switch from EA. The good ones, not the bad ones like Payback.
@LaytonPuzzle27 it wouldn’t run in the Switch. It barely runs on the Xbox and PlayStation. You can play Jedi Knight 2 on switch which is a great game. Part 3 is on the way.
EA never goes all in when it comes to a Nintendo console. That's one of the reasons they don't get the results they want. Bethesda and Ubisoft have gone all the way with the Switch and they are very much being supported by Switch owners.
Wasn't Frostbite developed by the brainy boys at DICE?
...what've they been up to lately anyway?
@Beermonkey what you said!
And I could live with the Wii U version of NFS Most Wanted too!
I am also thinking: Bad Company 1 and 2 😁
This feels like a fix. Like they are hyping the content with every intent to eventually release it.
What do we have to look forward to from EA? Star Wars? Modern FIFA? Honestly it’s a big no thanks from many Nintendo gamers. Move around
No one here owned NFL street or FIFA street on GameCube. SSX? There's been plenty of good EA games but people have turned on them because they're petty EA hasn't embraced the system.
@LaytonPuzzle27 good luck with that and ea would somehow fk up the switch version like they did with fifa.
I’m personally over EA. That being said, if still like to see them support the Switch better because I know there are many out there that would like to play EA’s games on Nintendo’s console.
@sixrings
" but people have turned on them because they're petty EA hasn't embraced the system."
Are you implying that EA just started being hated exclusively by Nintendo fanbois just a year or two ago?
https://youtu.be/2q35PgSXhKg
EA's been hated since the last generation, for milking their franchises to death, terrible marketing, terrible DLC practices and shutting down bought companies willy-nilly.
Back in 2012 and 2013 they were voted the worst company in America, and if you don't believe that it's not only Nintendo fans who hate 'em go onto Pushsquare and read the comment section for any EA related article.
And it's not like the PS4 is lacking in EA games.
@sixrings "Hey EA isn't that bad look at these games they made 20 years ago"
lol
So what games use the Frostbite engine?
@LaytonPuzzle27 Fallen Order was actually made in Unreal, and there are already Unreal Engine games on the Switch. Yoshi, for one.
@glaemay people liked the battlefield games of this generation.
@sixrings
It wasnt the lack of support for the Wii U or Switch that made me dislike EA, but their continual mocking of Nintendo owners did (mostly on their Twitter accounts). I've boycotted EA games since then, as why would I want to buy games from a company that derided me as a consumer.
@CaPPa I just want the games. I don't care what the company thinks of me. My ego isn't dictated by strangers.
@PiXeLSteF I sometimes think that people forget about the great catalogue of games EA have. Or have EA forgotten about the great catalogue of games they have?
@Beermonkey EA definitely has to look in the mirror!
