Ready for the most heartwarming story you'll read all week? Introducing 'Avery’s Pikmin Adventure', a Pikmin comic series written by a father for his child to read at school.
The man responsible for this adorable gift is Chris Furniss, a cartoonist who designs cute video game art and comics on Patreon. The Pikmin story is a "daily procedural comic, written and drawn on the fly", with Chris' son starring as the main character in the Pikmin universe. It's actually made up of little note cards which are left for his son to read over lunchtime, giving him something to look forward to seeing each day.
Chris has been sharing photographs of the comic on Twitter, and has actually created a 66-page book which gathers together the entire first story for people to buy if they're interested. You can check that out here.
Here's what the compilation looks like in the flesh:
What a super-lovely thing to do. Nice one, Chris!

Reminds me of the romhack a father did for his daughter to turn Link into a girl.
This is adorable. I love seeing stuff like this.
The sad part of the story is that the father has no time to prepare an actual lunch, so his son must eat the comics.
@DinnerAndWine Nothing wrong with a diet high in fibre.
On a serious note, what a great dad and a great display of thoughtfulness and love. We need more stuff like this in our news feeds and front pages.
Beautiful Comics.... Distracts him from the Fish Paste sandwiches... 😋
Some kids just read boring old webcomics. This kid got to star in his own personal DADCOMICS.
@DinnerAndWine Rumour has it the father is now a phlebotomist; the irony being he can't draw blood.
I wish my lunches were like that
This is pretty cool. Though the sad part is this poor child will grow up thinking he is a pikmin. He will try to get jobs later in life but nobody will hire him because his resume will have all his pikmin adventures and skills on it. Alas, he will have to run into the forest to live out his life as a pikmin and to never return to society.
Awesome! Pikmin 3 on Wii U is special for me, my son used to watch me play and he basically picked it up himself one day and was able to play, from about the age of three/four he was able to beat it, bar the final boss! That game, and the Wii U, will always be special to me... I can hear him now, ‘videos of Pikmin fwee!’ every morning that’s what he wanted to watch 😊
This reminds me of the story behind the game Battle Princess Madelyn. The daughter (Madelyn) liked watching her dad play Ghouls n Ghosts, but asked why she couldn't be the hero. So he created Battle Princess Madelyn so that she could.

like i said its been 7 years so i must have remembered things wrong
If this isn't the most wholesome thing I read this week, it'll definitely be a contender! You can see the love here.
All my dad gave me was anger issues.
This is so great. My 6 year old is obsessed with Pikmin too. I should try harder.
It's nice to know there are some really nice parents out there, shame my dad isn't one of them but glad for others.
I had this idea for my son when he gets older since I started drawing! Was gonna make original characters, though.
@Smashfan502 I know and it honestly came from simply watching me play, he loved it, then decided to try himself!
That's cool and heartwarming.
