Update - Thu 6th Feb, 2020 05:45 GMT: Krome has now publicly confirmed the release date of Ty the Tasmanian Tiger on Switch.
You Beauty! The countdown has begun. TY the Tasmanian Tiger is coming to the Nintendo Switch on March 31, 2020.
In addition to this, the game will be playable ahead of its release at this year's Supanova Convention, which is taking place on the Gold Coast, Australia from 13th - 14th March at the Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Original Story - Tue 4th Feb, 2020 05:00 GMT: A Kickstarter backer update from Krome Studios has revealed Ty the Tasmanian Tiger is in the final stages of lot check testing and will launch on the Nintendo Switch on 31st March. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One releases are expected to follow this.
The 3D platformer was first released on the GameCube and multiple other platforms in 2002 and launched on Kickstarter last August. It was successfully funded within less than a week and comes with plenty of enhancements (including better graphics, quality of life improvements and even a new hardcore mode). Here's a look at the game in action on Switch:
Join TY on a RIPPER of an adventure to free his family from the Dreaming, through 17 levels of the Australian Outback, in their old-school 3D platforming glory!

Wow, he's on fire!
Ah, midnight in Eastern US, time for Liam's shift. Intersting story. I'm going to go look the game up.
Looks good.
Wanna see the comparison between Switch and PS4 version.
What a throwback (pun not intended), spent many afternoons playing Bush Rescue as a kid! Cool to see the franchise getting another go.
Wish they could have included the GBA games as unlockables.
60fps?
Yes Nintendo life that’s all I can think of to say.
Did you hear something...? It sounds like NitroRad squealing in delight...
Never actually played any of these games. I definitely remember him though. I remember that commercial about Ty coming in hospital where it had Sonic, Crash, and I think... maybe Spyro? All beat up or something like that.
Yes can't wait to get this for Switch, I still had my original EA copy for the GameCube so I'm excited for this remastered version.
You can hear Men At Work just by looking at him.
From EA to indie, eh?
Is there any franchise that EA hasn't screwed over?
Very Aussie! Can’t wait to bang a boomerang or two.
I hope they remember to pour some color into all those grey shadows before launch, but otherwise this is looking pretty dope for a re-launch of a classic!
Not a bad game, I completed this back in the day. Though it had a lot of collectables that weren't worth the excruciating challenge of finding, let alone the acrobatics involved. I suggest giving it a go if you like platformers.
Only Ty game I have is the third one, so I guess I'll keep me eye on this.
I'll keep an eye on it!
Digital only? That's unfortunate... will still purchase tho!
Took me a a good long second to figure out he had eyes and it wasn't just two abstract shapes for a head.
@Silly_G Technically Krome Studios is the developer of the three Ty the Tasmanian Tiger games. Electronic Art simply published the first two games and Activision published the third game back in the day. And now Krome Studios is now self-publishing the three Ty games.
It's about time my name-sake hit the screens again.
@LaytonPuzzle27 : I'm aware of that. I was just pointing out the fact that a small-time developer went from having their games published by major players (complete with marketing/retail presence) to independent publishing.
I never donated, but I've been following the Kickstarter closely in anticipation of the release date announcement. The game was slated for the first quarter for months now, so I can't say I'm thrilled with this announcement, since it's as late as it could have come without a delay. But of course, a rushed game is a bad game and all that. I'm just eager to re-experience, and finally beat, this classic from my childhood.
Crash, Spyro, Battle for Bikini Bottom, and now Ty. Nintendo just needs to put Nintendo 64 games on their online plan with Super Mario 64, and if Sony is considering streaming on the Switch, maybe they would be so kind as to put Jak and Daxter on Switch. Then my childhood platformers will be united at last! Oh, and Namco, please port Pac-man World 2, as well. K thanx.
Price point is what matters.
I don’t really remember the Ty games being that big of a thing when they first released (maybe I was already too old?), and initially thought that this was a bit of a ‘meh’ announcement.
But watching that video, the game actually looks quite good. A lot more polished than I thought it would be. At the very least it’ll be worth looking into as a family game (my lad and Mrs love games like Crash, Spyro and Mario Odyssey).
I have an interview with Krome Studios if the team in Nintendo Life is interested
I mean, I’d prefer it if it wasn’t the very end of March, but great to have a release date
Really looking forward to this. I have great memories of playing this as a kid
Thylacine you extinct!
Remember playing Ty on GameCube but found it boring. Not sure if I actually completed it in the end.
I just got hit by a wave of nostalgia while seeing this.
The game looks alright, I might have to pick this up, once it's released.
What about the sequels? It was actually a trilogy in the PS2/Gamecube era.
