If you're still enjoying Saber Interactive's port of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition for the Nintendo Switch, you'll be pleased to hear the talented port specialist isn't done with it just yet.
According to a translation via the Nintendo Switch subreddit, Saber's social network page mentions how the team behind the hybrid version of this title is hard at work on a new patch.
Greetings! We're working hard on the update, everything will be ready soon!
Although no exact details have been provided, it's expected to be a minor update. Still, it's always nice to see a developer supporting one of its games months after the release date.
What updates would you like to see for the Switch version of The Witcher 3? Leave a comment below.

I never ran into a problem tho...
I’ve yet to get my teeth into this game, don’t know why, I love skyrim and the like....maybe just waiting for a good block of time and some decent horrid weather
Getting rid of some of the blur in docked would be at the top of my list.
My only issue with this port is the occasional crash. I've had about three of them this weekend. It's the one thing that keeps me from wholeheartedly recommending it, though I'm having a whale of a time with it otherwise. Hopefully this is what they're fixing.
"Working hard" on a "minor" patch.
What if, and it's a big what if, the rumoured Switch Pro is due to be announced soon and the "minor" update they refer to is actually a pro update.
What if witcher 3 is just the Beta for Gwent.🤯
I still need to pick this game up. Trying to finish up DQXIS & Pokemon first though. I know once I dive into this game I’ll been caught up for a while.
Yeah, it crashes a lot in big cities. Would definitely like to see that fixed bc otherwise it runs great.
@Zulkarneyn I had a bug within my first 5 minutes of playing. Turtorial bugged out, had to restart it. Besides that the game seems to be running lovely.
I haven't had any crashes yet, but I've only explored novigrad once. The only thing I've noticed is images popping in and out and grainy textures. Other than that, it's been pretty solid.
It is not about the witcher 3
Yes! I can't wait for the patch. They're supposed to add multiplayer to the game. One person plays as Geralt and the other person plays as Roach. Unfortunately, Roach can only be used for traveling so that kinda sucks right now.
Interested to see what they do. I have had a couple of crashes in the later stages of the game but nothing to make me cry. The occasional glitch too (flying humans, floating horses and falling through the world anyone??) but they have been funny rather than a hinderance and nothing that hasn’t been spotted in games of this type for as long as I can remember. A wee graphical boost would be lovely but isn’t a deal breaker.
I had a crash right after the tutorial section and I’ve noticed a bit of frame rate instability. Hopefully the patch will borrow some stability from the 3DS firmware updates and also include a few graphical options to boost frame rates.
Never had any crashes with the game yet (and with many dozens of play hours). Wonder if this has anything to do with the game being played from a cart... maybe SD card performance (or reliability) has something to do with this? Dunno.
Personally, I don't have any issue with the blurriness, or anti-aliasing, as I'm playing mostly in portable mode and I'm not noticing anything that bug me.
Sure, there is some popup happening in some random places, and some lower quality textures, but the only thing I've seen (from my end) that would improve things a bit (it is a minor update after all), could be the framerate that strangely drops in some cinematics, and maybe improve the framerate a bit in graphically more complex areas (like Novigrad for instance).
Also, load times in some regions of the world are quite long. If these can be improved, that would be great too.
options similar to what has been shown of the pc version that will ease some of the blurriness. It is hard on the eyes. I have tried hooking into the back of the xbox one x to upscale and lowered the screen size with some success, but there needs to be more. I still love what they have done though.
That image is absolutely disgusting by the way.
Its the 1080p60fps patch
It’s likely to fix the language issue that’s been broken since version 3.4 (EU) & 3.5 (US). It’s a major complaint on the CD Projekt forums.
TLDR the game (without day 1 patch) included all the languages found in the other versions, 3.4 removed them for whatever reason only leaving English & i believe French & German, 3.5 for the US version re added in Spanish (while also supposedly messed with graphics which people liked so might be AA off), EU never got 3.5, fans are wanting the language packs that they’ve said should be there (since it includes all DLC from the other versions) but CD & Saber both remained extremely quiet, annoying the fans.
It’s a mess of a situation & lack of communication since the problem was reported (which was day 1) is embarrassing. I get that Saber is only small & have other projects but noticing way too many devs (& publishers) these days all having awful PR & communication skills.
l feel like they really bother just to do this because of the show
Add Shaq as a playable character. I know they have a deal with him. Do it, cowards!
My game also crashes regularly when I talk to merchants or use fast travel. Hopefully, it gets patched.
Good. While I enjoyed the game it crashed constantly for me. Also during some of the DLC menus or loading screens would turn lime green and not display properly. Still highly recommend it.
@kopaka The post itself is not, questions and reply in comments are.
@eFik so if I'll ask here for a patch for, let's say... Civilization, NL will write a news about devs patching it?
@Morlock5K I said something on a YouTube video about the rumour of a Switch Pro and Red Dead 2.
I said what if Red Dead 2 is the launch title for Switch Pro and if that occurred there would be no reason not to expect a Witcher 3 patch to improve graphical fidelity.
It's Witcher 3 PRO patch 😉
I’ve had one crash, when the gameplay transitions into the story driven cut scene. Just ended up looking at a black screen with the word loading without the rotating circle in the bottom right.
I have had speech not occur when Geralt talks and the subtitles appear.
I have also had Geralt with bright pink hair where I guess the texture has failed to load.
Nothing game braking and I’ve not played any other game since this launched. This now probably my longest played game after Zelda.
I love my Switch, but running Overwatch or Witcher on it is the equivalent putting a racing fin on a VW Bug and taking it drag racing. Sure it can be done, but that doesn't mean you should.
Add crosssave with pc and i will buy
a patch to fix the terrible frame rate
I hope they use boost mode on these long load times.
I've experienced the following & would like to see one or more of these fixed:
-Frame rate stutters regularly, especially when auto-saving.
-Tutorial glitch — don't remember exact details other than it got stuck & couldn't progress.
-Frequent enough game crashes (in & out of cities).
-And then, of course, it would be nice if some type of graphical improvement could be made, especially in docked mode.
Perhaps some bugs to iron out. I recall running into one during the tutorial, although I eventually got through by sticking to the dictated sequence of controls and barely even moving otherwise. No crashes so far, although I'm still in White Orchard.
@Laxeybobby rumours have zero value unless/until confirmed, and from what I've seen, this one comes from a key reseller website of all sources. Besides, on top of my general "Switch Pro is nigh" skepticism, I still don't get why people view it as a supposed gateway for ports they don't expect Switch to handle. We're essentially talking a library-splitting upgrade that would paint the flagship model as inferior - something neither Sony nor Microsoft (the examples Switch Pro clamourers deem Nintendo keen to follow) have opted to do with their respective Pros. Only New 3DS has tried that in recent history, and the idea evidently sizzled out on all fronts beyond a couple dozen titles (and, oddly, SNES VC) - even Kirby's Epic Yarn port ran on all models.
@Reignmaker tell that to people who downmod Witcher 3 into next Saturday to play it on the first GPD Win at 15 fps. You'd be surprised how many "you should" can rise to the call of "you can" when the alternative is one profound session every few weeks/months at best. Good luck beating sidequest-oozing open-worlders on such a schedule.
@Pat84 my thoughts exactly. It needs some boost power.
I played this on PS4 and there were glitches in that version too...
Like @Gwynbleidd said, modders found that turning anti-aliasing off significantly improves the picture quality which drastically cleans the image up. Sure, you get more jaggies, but the blue is a lot less noticeable.
Almost through the game now, after some 120 hours in and its been a wonderful game for me. Haven't had much trouble with crashes or things like that, but I recently was in a cave where I couldn't dive under water, although I could see that there were chests and other lootable objects at the bottom.
@Dromosus most likely this patch is going to address the random crashes in certain areas that be nice.
@Username_unknown dont expect a switch pro any time soon since switch has a few more years left to it before its next successor.
I have no doubt that Nintendo as a company has heard the natives getting restless at this point with chants of "switch pro" and maybe gave us a window view with recent comment on record about hardware trends.
Oh, and it would be hilarious if their minor patch is to make Geralt look more like the Henry from the Netflix series.
Not my favorite game, but Saber did a great job on it.
@Yosher Never seen a man in a tub? Pretty normal.
@KIRO Don’t feel bad, I’ve had it since release on PS4, and got it on release for Switch as well. I’m JUST NOW starting to play it on Switch, and never started the PS4 version.
They are adding Beat Saber into Witcher 3.
I'd be interested if this was discounted.
There are actually graphical enchantments already coded into the game but are locked out unless using a...workaround. these enchantments include improved water graphics, foliage and I believe higher framerates among a few others.
This update will probably just focus on fixing crashes, bugs and glitches and smooth out frame drops in certain areas.
Would love to see how this runs on an updated switch...Switch Pro perhaps...
@kopaka That's veryu different situation and I am sure you are aware of the difference. 1) question was on saber's socials. 2) it was answered positively by saber. Nothing to do with asking here on NL.
@Dromosus I was coming here to say that same thing. I love the port (and the game) but on my 120h into it I had pretty much a crash every 5h or so and ended changing the automatic saves to every 3min to avoid losing progress
I get regular crashes though I am nearing 80 hours and I would say a crash every 4-5 hours maybe.
I get occasional crashes, so anything to help with that would be good. Otherwise it’s a really great port, so anything else they may do is appreciated.
@Dm9982 ha ha , thanks , I feel better happy gaming!
i only clicked on this for the handsome man in the thumbnail
Gyro aiming please!
@Cissero I had the same. Was it while learning the combat?. Mine got caught in a loop. Wanting me to do something I had already done.
I've had some crashes and bugs, did update the cartridge through the online and it seems to be better... But I have to say I quite liked the bug during the Pasio secret race in which my opponents simply never started running hahaha
@eFik the post is about Killing Floor. In the comments to the Saber's comment about preparing a patch people ask for the witcher 3 patch, without any answer.
@Richnj yep, exactly this haha
Link outfit and weapons incoming!
@Balta666 if this was any other game crashing at these intervals, I'd be very tempted to quit playing or would be moaning about it a lot more. But this is the Witcher 3 on the freakin' Switch! It's the game that shouldn't exist. I hope they sort it, but I'll play this game to completion and beyond, crashes be damned.
Got the game yesterday and I love it.I finished it on my PC in 4k long time ago but never really had time to do some proper exploring.Having this game portable is amazing.Yeah I know graphics aren't the best but for me it's ok,still plays amazing in my opinion.
