Update: It appears the delays of some versions in certain regions weren't as bad as Yacht Club expected in the end. Here's the updated list:
- 3DS – North America – [December 13th, 10 am PST] – Out now!
- 3DS – Europe – [December 10th] – Out now!
- Wii U – Europe – [December 10th] – Out now!
- PS3 – North America – [December 11th, 3:00 pm PST] – Out now!
- PS3 – Europe – [December 11th, 3:00 pm PST] – Out now!
- PS4 – Physical: Due to unforeseen manufacturing issues, the PS4 physical version of Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove has been pushed to early 2020. Note that the update patch for both the digital and physical release of Shovel Knight on PS4 is still on schedule.
- Windows Store: [December 13th, 2:00 pm PST] – Out now!
- Amazon FireTV : In final phases of development.
Original Story - Sat 7th Dec, 2019 03:15 GMT: Next week on 10th December, the Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove collection will be updated with Shovel Knight: King of Cards and Shovel Knight Showdown via a digital rollout.
Despite Yacht Club's "intense" efforts to get all versions of the game out on time, unfortunately, the release has now been delayed for certain platforms in particular regions. Here's the news from Yacht Club's website:
the following platforms have had their release date adjusted. If you don’t see your platform/region below then assume the release is on time
- 3DS – North America – Fri, December 13th
- 3DS – Europe – Approved, but needs slightly more time to prepare for release.
- Wii U – Europe – Approved, but needs slightly more time to prepare for release.
- PS3 – North America – In final steps of submission.
- PS3 – Europe – In final steps of submission.
- PS4 – Physical: PS4 physical version of Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove has been pushed to early 2020. Note that the update patch for the original release of Shovel Knight on PS4 is still on schedule.
- Amazon FireTV: In final phases of development.
So, the 3DS release in both regions has been delayed. The Wii U version in Europe has also been delayed. Switch owners across all regions are seemingly fine, and so are Wii U owners located in North America. Keep in mind, Shovel Knight Showdown is not coming to the 3DS or PlayStation Vita.
In the same post, Yacht Club revealed the physical release of Treasure Trove would be receiving a patch to iron out some bugs and other issues:
If you are playing the physical game, there will be a 4.0A patch on or near release which addresses a handful of bugs. If you’re playing a digital version of the game, you will likely already be updated to 4.0A. We will provide more detailed patch notes on release.
Tell us in the comments if you're impacted by this delay.

Oh no, my free game is going to be a few day late!
When did I buy this? 2015? And I'm STILL getting massive amounts of free DLC from the developers. It's generous to the point of insanity.
Does this mean that the Switch physical is still good for Tuesday?
It’s honestly so incredible of them to still support consoles on the brink of being two generations behind. It means you don’t have to buy the game on multiple platforms to keep up with DLC, a mercy in today’s world of DLC madness.
@DockEllisD I've thought about doing the same thing. They could very easily have charged for all of these expansions and, honestly, they'd probably be worth the money. All of these expansions are like brand new Shovel Knight games.
When they move on from Shovel Knight to create something brand new, if I'm even the slightest bit interested, I'll be there day one. They deserve the support.
Good on them for being upfront about it the delays. It’s easy to forget just how much they’re developing and for how many systems. Keep on truckin’, Yacht Club, we love the polished hard work yall put out ❤️
While I had picked up the Shovel Knight amiibo at launch, I've never picked up any of the games as I suspected that it would eventually be ported to the Wii U's successor.
I intend to grab Treasure Trove and the four new amiibo next week (if I'm lucky enough to nab the latter!).
It is insane that the developers have kept on giving over the last 4, nearly 5 years now! Even on a dead platform like Wii U.
It's rare to see a company conduct themselves in such a generous and honourable fashion.
Meanwhile at EA/Epic (et al.) HQ...
I have SK on the 3DS, so it's only three more days..
I can't wait to play the game. I've been waiting for a while, so I'm very excited to get my hands on it
Gotta jump back in on this. First on PS3 because why not. Then probably for real on Xbox or 3DS. Kudos to Yacht Club for supporting all platforms as much as they have this far in the game
Heart stopped for a sec when I saw that headline, I saw the word delay and almost panicked. Been a hard couple of weeks and looking forward to this so much, this expansion is just what I need!
Here we have it...
Amazing support, but a little disappointing that the physical version for Switch needs a patch... I thought it took them so long so it would be the final definitive version.
it's just a little bit more waiting.

Ahh ,Yacht Club. One developer whom I would have supported more by buying these expansions. But since they didn't charge, I have instead purchased Shovel Knight multiple times on multiple systems.
Yohooo, Yacht Club breathing more life into Wii U (the best version of Shovel Knight).
I just assumed being a Wii U owner I'd miss out so this is great news even if I have to wait a little.
But what about the physical that hasn’t been released for switch? Guessing that will need the patch :s
Will be getting the physical version for Switch at least.
Of course, the only two versions I own get delayed...Oh well..I am getting it physical on Switch as well eventually...just probably not at launch.
I should update my copy before i can't anymore. On 3DS
I was going to buy this in Wii U era but somehow didn’t. Luckily when I got my switch last year I righted that wrong. But now I still need to finish the first part of the game.
Oh, what a mess! I assume I won't be seeing it this year (I am a European Wii u owner)?
After all these years they still aren't ready! I have still lots to play (luckily), but I think its kinda sad.
@MH4 Fun fact: For more than a year, I thought your profile icon was Plague Knight because I never looked at it hard enough. I thought the forehead was his beak.
Good for Yacht Club to update versions on the WiiU and 3DS, other companies would have abandoned these systems and forced people to upgrade to the Switch version (for either no extra or little extra)
@Not_Soos Ha, love it! It’s actually a pic of my face that I ran through a “retro filter app” a few years ago. Nobody knows what it is until I explain it, haha.
Anybody in North America get the update for the Wii U yet?
Edit; there it is!
Where's it at? Not seeing anything new on my 3DS.
Seriously, though. Where's the update?
Only just found out the Wii U release in Europe was in fact not delayed - could have been playing it for the last 2 weeks if not for this article!
@Markiemania95 Really? I checked on Saturday. Nothing there. I checked today and the update was online!
@Liam_Doolan Please inform the world, that the update is here.
