A brand new trailer for Stranded Sails - Explorers of the Cursed Islands has washed up on our grateful shores, giving us a look at some of the activities you can expect to get up to when the game arrives on Switch. And it looks lovely.
The game, which has taken inspiration from series such as The Legend of Zelda, Harvest Moon, and more recent titles like My Time At Portia, sees you ship-wrecked on a mysterious archipelago. It has you taking on various tasks like farming, crafting, cooking, and exploration, all while you work towards the ultimate goal of building a ship and escaping the island.
Publisher Merge Games says that the title has received "amazing feedback" during appearances at events like PAX and Gamescom, and that it has racked up 95,000 hits on its Steam wishlist. If you want to learn more, make sure to check out this handy feature list:
- Experience an open-world adventure full of quests and discovery
- Farm and cook to survive! Provide food for your crew and improve their level of happiness, whilst experimenting with different ingredients to discover new dishes
- Manage the creation and expansion of your crew’s camp and prove your skills as a shipbuilder
- Explore a diverse array of different islands by foot or boat on your travels to find a range of tools and treasure
- Fight against supernatural dangers and solve the secrets of the cursed islands
An exact release date is still yet to be revealed, but we'll make sure to keep an eye out for more news on this one as we enter the busy end of 2019. Amazon currently has a physical listing which is supposedly due to be shipped in November.

Gameplay looks good-ish, menus look like they're from free2play mobile games. I'll wait for reviews.
Looks considerably more Rune Factory than Zelda.
Crafty Moon is quickly beoming a genre unto itself, and if there's something Zelda never had (I think?) it's crop management.
Day One !
I will get Switch version first.
I will double dip the PS4 version later.
@Pod it is. the only thing tha's like Zelda is the Island. But that's it
It's more harvest moon or rune factory. Don't see a lot of Zelda, except for an island and a ship. But then all pirate games are Zelda games, so that doesn't make sense.
Zelda like? What?? Never seen a Zelda title like that lol.
Looks good though, will keep an eye on it.
Look! Water, land and fishing. Zelda clone, smh.
Looks pretty good, probably will pass. With Blossom Tales, Link's Awakening, and BOTW 2 probably coming in 2020 I will have plenty of zelda to play.
Can't watch the embedded video, says you have to go to Youtube.
@Anti-Matter I've had my eye on this since you mentioned it on a previous post. Thanks 😁
Gameplay Demo if you curious.
Latest trailer in PS4 version if you cannot watch the video above.
@FantasiaWHT
Watch the PS4 version from video i posted here.
Does it have online co-op?
I agree with others that I don't get a Zelda vibe. It's more original HM/Rune Factory.
Looks good. I'm in.
Just cause you can chop trees down in Breath of the Wild, doesn't make every game you can chop trees down in "Zelda inspired"...lol
@FantasiaWHT Maybe just watch on YouTube then?
It’s not going to be easy to make these different systems feel natural and work together, while not forcing the player down a narrow linear path. Stardew accomplished it’s goals because of the sheer amount of content the game gradually reveals to the player, and how it lets you kind of do what you want with it.
Zelda-inspired? This looks like it's directly competing with Dragon Quest Builders, judging from the video.
is this going to be free? doesn't look like it warrants money...
@Pod Yeah this article has the wrong title. "Rune Factory-Inspired" is much more like it.
Zelda? In what capacity lol
I found out about this game while I was down a YouTube rabbit hole about a week ago. I'm intrigued!
Not that it looks all that bad, but frankly games like this have become a dime a dozen. Mundane chores, fetch quests, and other busy work aimed at boosting a title's hours played count, but which actually amount to fluff with little or no substance (this has been my biggest issue with Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Different theme maybe, but when you get down to it the exact same "between missions" filler formula.). It can be fun for awhile, but you can only cut and paste the same formula for so long before gamers start taking a hard pass.
Think Ryan needs to goto Specsavers as like others can't see the Zelda inspiration , maybe it's just Ryan's articles as they always of in this way
I'll be getting the Signature series collection just for the game.
It looks interesting, but I can’t get over how slow the running animation looks...I’ll keep an eye out for reviews and maybe get this once it goes on sale - there are way too many retail games coming out between now and March for me to even consider buying anything on the eShop until I have whittled down my current (and future) backlog.
