The folks at Modus Games have today shared a brand new trailer for the upcoming Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince, which will be launching on Nintendo Switch on 8th October.
As you can see for yourself, the trailer gives us a good look at the plot taking place behind the usual, enchanting puzzles we've seen in previous gameplay videos. Despite the world's gorgeous, fantastical setting, things sure get pretty dark in places, as explained in this official description below:
Prince Selius suffers from intensely dark dreams and, due to his magical talents, monstrous nightmares are able to slip into reality and wreak havoc on the waking world. Amadeus, Pontius, and Zoya must find the afflicted prince and resolve the desperate situation before the world is engulfed by the Nightmare Prince's shadows.
Trine 4 is set to feature overhauled combat and an expansive set of skill trees, all in a bid to help players get truly invested into the action as their preferred hero. The game’s puzzles change based on how many players are in a group to make sure exploration works nicely however you want to play.
As a reminder, Trine 4 is releasing alongside Trine: Ultimate Collection, which bundles all previous games together in one tasty package.

Looks..... interesting?
Trine 4, Link’s Awakening, Witcher 3, Luigi’s Mansion.... HELP!!!
I haven't played any of the games before so I'm picking up the physical copy of the collection. Found it pretty cheap.
Oh great!. Glad they back to the 2.5D view. Trine 3 was not my favorite.
@nofriendo means you have to take a holiday or 2 or 4 to able to finish those. lol... more games are coming
Did have the ultimate collection on pre-order as they said they would put all of them on the one cartridge. Then they wimped out and only put 4 on there with the others as download. So cancelled that preorder and will probably not play them now
I first played Trine 1 & 2 on Wii U, & downloaded them again on Switch (though haven't played them on Switch yet, but I really like those games). I plan on picking up Trine 3 & 4, but am also tempted to just download the Ultimate Edition. Im no tech wizard, so my question is this: Trine Ultimate Edition is 2.8GB, I believe — the same as Trine 4 — so does the fact that the 4 games have been compressed into the same amount of space as Trine 4 is individually mean that they won't noticeably look as good or play as smoothly?
Quite an underrated series
It appears that they may have gotten this right... after the Trine 3 disaster... I hope I am right.
I need to go back and finish Trine 2 on WiiU and then get 4 some day if it turns out to be good.
@Fake-E-Lee I played through Trine 2 and really enjoyed the whole experience. It's a (mostly) stress-free puzzle platformer overflowing with visual splendor and charm. Production values are quite high. Immediately upon completing the game I purchased the first Trine but have yet to dig in, what with Astral Chain taking up 100% of my Switch activity at the mo. I will be skipping 3 based on nearly every review, but if 4 is a return to form, as it very much appears to be, then it is a sure purchase for me. I only wait to hear about how it performs on the Switch for it looks as though improvements have been made to the already magnificent visuals of the previous installments.
@Alucard83 I reckon a one-year sabbatical along with swearing off daylight should get me through half my backlog.
@Savino Same here. Have all 3 on Steam. Got 1&2 on Switch on sale - figure I give them a bit more revenue to work on 4 with.
Not buying 3 again (didn't even finish it on PC)... Buying 4 on Switch for sure.
@nofriendo LMAO. So true man

This right here is misleading you only get version 4 Physical 1-3 are Downloads. So if you want Physical 1-3 that is only through GameStop.
I see this series all over the eShop but I can never end up pulling the trigger. Are these games actually fun?
