Frozenbyte and publisher Modus Games have today revealed the release date for Trine 4. The game will be arriving on Switch on 8th October, with Trine: Ultimate Collection also launching on the very same day.
If you haven't seen much of Trine 4 up until now, make sure to check out the new trailer above - we can never get enough of this series' art. The video shows off the game's co-op gameplay, new skills, and the beautiful scenery you can expect to explore. The game features fantastical new enemies to defeat and new physics-based puzzles to solve.
Trine: Ultimate Collection, which offers all four games in the series in one tasty bundle, will be available both physically and digitally - just like Trine 4 itself. If you already own the older releases, you can go for the new game on its own, but the bundle looks perfect for anyone who'd like the full set.
Trine: Ultimate Collection's physical release includes:
- Trine 1-4
- Trine Series Original Soundtrack (download code)
- Trine 4 Digital Art Book (download code)
- Collector’s Reversible Cover Sheet
- Physical Trine 4 World Map
So, what about the pricing? Trine 4 will cost £29.99 on Switch, which is annoyingly £5 more than the pricing for other platforms, but the Ultimate Collection will be £39.99 across the board. All pre-orders of either version include Toby’s Dream DLC Level - a bonus in-game level where Toby the dog, as previously seen in Nine Parchments, has his own adventure in Heatherwood Hall.
Which version will you be going for? The new Trine 4, or the full set? Let us know with a comment below.

That's like, $50. That doesn't sound too bad but I could never finish the first game. Wasn't that exciting.
Thought it was going to be September going by what retailers were saying but October is probably better considering how packed September already is. Still a little on the fence but I've got the Ultimate Collection preordered because $57.99 (Australian) for all four games seems almost too good to refuse.
FYI on the Trine Ultimate Collection SWITCH physical release.... Trine 4 Nightmare Prince is the only game on the cartridge.... the other 3 games are download codes.
When will the Ultimate Collection physical come to Amazon UK?
The Ultimate Collection would be far more appealing if the first 3 games were on a physical cartridge.
I suppose I'll add it on my 3camels wishlist at £20 and wait for reviews to avoid the same deception as Trine 3
So wait a minute. If the cartridge is only download codes, does that mean there's no software proper for this collection? I ask because I'm wondering if I should just download them when they're on sale individually, or wait for the collection, assuming a decent price.
I’ve always loved the art direction in the Trine series. I own them all on PS4 despite never finishing any of them. Things can get a bit tricky playing solo in regards to the platforming. I never had the chance to try out co-op.
I’ll likely pick up Trine 4 one day, but I’ll likely stick to the PS4 for these. The art is too beautiful to have it be downgraded in any way, which I imagine will be the case with the Switch ports.
Ive never played a Trine game before but this looks so beautiful I'll have to pick it up if the reviews are kind.
I'd buy only 4. Played the last ones. They're great, sure, but not interested in bundles.
I love the art in their games. Nine parchments is underrated as a multiplayer title and it has the same detailed nature art that makes it very, very special.
@BenAV where is it $57 for the collection? EShop? Amazon has it at $77 and I think EB was $89.
Day 1 for the ultimate if I can. Huge fan of the first two games. Very excited for the fourth.
Just so you know for you physical collector's. You can buy Trine 1-3 importing it's EB Games/GameStop exclusive in US. Then you can get all four physical. It's a lot more expensive, but hey more people prefer this.
@Smigit Ozgameshop
@jonobgood could you give me a source on that? I’ve googled and went on the Frozenbyte site and haven’t seen anything about download codes except the soundtrack.
@BenAV thanks!
@Kejomo You will just have to trust me on that! The other post was correct, there is a physical cartridge for Trine Series 1-3 being released a little earlier in September by a different publisher (EB GAMES/GAME STOP exclusive) that would be your only way to get the first 3 games on cartridge. And then separately buy Trine 4 Nightmare Prince standalone when that released in October to get that one on cartridge.
@jonobgood Your reasoning sounds logical but I would like a little more confirmation from one guy on a message board.
@Kejomo I found this...

"For the physical edition, it will come with all of the same goodies as the other console versions. You'll get Trine 1-4 on a cartridge"
@SwitchForce Thanks! I definitely won’t buy physical with download codes. I would just stick with eshop sales for those titles.
@Kejomo what part of the link didn't you not get. Or are you just Trolling. You talked about physical and when given the info dismiss it as someone trolling.
@SwitchForce I was speaking generally. I would have canceled my preorder had there been a download code inside. Sorry for the misunderstanding. The last game I bought with a code inside was RE revelations and I wish I would have just waited for a sale on the eshop.
@switchforce @jonobgood I just got confirmation via twitter from Frozenbyte that only 4 will be on the cartridge.

sjit that means now I will order the 1-3 and 4 standard to get all the physical.
Well wow! What a beautiful looking game
