A Japanese release date for the next Sega Ages titles has been locked in. That's right, Switch owners in this location will be able to download Columns II: The Voyage Through Time on 8th August for 999 yen.
Of course, if you have access to a Japanese Switch eShop account, you can always buy and download the game ahead of its western release. At the moment, there's no word on when this game will be localised.
This classic Sega puzzle title also includes an option to play the Genesis/Sega Mega Drive version of the original Columns game, so you get even more bang for your buck. There are plenty of other features as well, which you can read about in the original announcement post.
For now, though, tell us if you intend to pick up this new offering in the Sega Ages series when it arrives later this week.

Always did like Columns' aesthetic. Better check out some gameplay vids and reviews because I haven't played since a very brief romp on the Sega Genesis...
What was different about Columns II? For it being the obscure and forgotten sequel, since it was the one that wasn't released on Genesis.
@KingMike Literally nothing, but in my opinion a poorer graphical aesthetic. original columns is the best.
Looking forward to owning this previously arcade-only game. But please, Sega Ages staff, speed up the releases, especially in the West.
Somehow I feel the Ages people wrote a list of the most requested and popular Sega games. Then threw it out and pulled titles out of a hat
Another meh arcade title, why get this when Columns III on the Genesis Collection is much better anyways?
guess we got to wait for the better SEGA AGES games
Would love to see another Sega Model 1 game, Vitura Fighter, Wing War heck even Star Wars would be ace seeing as that has trouble on Mame still
Insert photo of me still waiting for Sega Ages Puyo Puyo to be released to the west
I've got this for my Megaretron HD a middle of the line Genesis hardware clone. So i'm set, best $52 i've spent at Walmart in a long time. I also prefer hardware clones over software emulation clones.
Looking forward to this one - played the heck out of it on the genesis! 👍
SEGA, buddy you're hanging the west dry when you've said that our regions have done the best with SEGA AGES Switch, and yet you take forever to bring them over , even though you have full English translations in the game. And SEGA, if you want the series to do the best it can watch this video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HfomQ8QH6yw , so basically, have M2 finish the game's they've announced, give the games worldwide releases, and have more interesting and arcade locked games.
But I thought we were getting Space Harrier....
@JadeGames I'm still waiting for Puyo 2 anywhere.
I just want Shinobi with a built in sound test / jukebox so that I can jam to that Wham soundtrack.
Did someone say Columns?! Sold!
