To celebrate the upcoming release of Darkwood on the Switch eShop on 16th May, publisher Crunching Koalas has released a new trailer for the game featuring a "pretty epic" custom-recorded song.
Unlike a lot of other releases within this genre, this one promises not to rely on cheap jump scares. This procedurally generated game is "set in a bizarre vision of mid-80s Poland" and is said to be heavily story-driven. The main character wakes up in a forest possessed by strange evil forces and must escape from evil by exploring, scavenging, crafting items and completing quests to fortify his hideout.
If you would like to read more about how this project came about, take a look at an entry on the PlayStation Blog featuring Gustaw Stachaszewski – a co-founder of Acid Wizard Studio (the team behind this release).

nice trailer
I saw this on the Eshop yesterday and after looking at the screenshots, I instantly dismissed it. It was hard to tell what I was looking at. I should have watched the trailer though as now I think it looks great and going by past reviews, it is. I'll be adding it to my wishlist.
This contains a python editor to make new apps which you now save to your switch!
Me gusta mucho. I'll wait to see how the port comes out before i make a final decision though.
I am not sure about the game itself, but I adored that song in the trailer. It makes me want to buy the game so bad, and experience this top down horror game.
Looks terrifying and terrific in equal measure, and I remember the contended thrill of wiping it from my Steam wishlist after that Direct. The price and file size look scarily manageable as well, so despite other contenders for late May (including Guilty Gear and a rare PSN sale that remembers the existence of Vita nowadays), this might end up on my account and Switch very soon.
It's cool they made their own "custom" song for it but I can't help but feel that 'Neverbloom' by Make Them Suffer would have been much more fitting.
hmm nah, dont like the top down look of it
Great art direction and the music really works for me in this context. I won’t be playing it though #wussgamer
