There's nothing quite like getting all your friends and family over for a good Mario Kart session in front of the big screen, especially if you throw some lovely snacks into the mix, but what do you do if you run out of places to sit? The answer: use a baseball stadium.
The footage below captures the moment when some players took the phrase "big screen" to a whole new level, hosting their very own Mario Kart game on the big screen at Kansas City Royals' Kauffman Stadium. We wouldn't be surprised if this is the largest display on which the game has even been played, and certainly serves as a great way to use the park during MLB's offseason.
Initially, many assumed that the game was set up by stadium staff members as a laugh, but the Kansas City Royals soon revealed that it was actually part of a Royals Associates fundraiser.
Still, if you're looking for a way to spice up your next Twitch stream, renting out an entire stadium could definitely be the way to go. Alternatively, we'd love to see fans getting to play the odd game or two for half time entertainment - we'd end up buying a ticket just to play on that screen!

Now that would be amazing!
Class act! Luvit! Time to upgrade your TV peoples
My heart skipped a beat when I hastily misread the article title and thought we were getting a new Mario baseball game. I’ll keep dreaming.
The only thing better than this would be if the Mets sign Harper. #LGM
Maybe they were calibrating the screen and happened to have a switch handy to help test it?
50 inch plasma!!!!!????? That's something my Dad had when I was small, didn't they stop making those like 10 years ago lol
So does this prove 4K gaming is basically irrelevant?
@stuffiwrote Couldn't have said it any better myself!
Smash could be a LOT more fun.
My family members are all Royals fans. Wait till they hear about this!
Lol, that's where I live Kansas City, MO. The local sports radio channels here were suggesting they set up an esport tournament there. They did a Billy Joel concert last year there so this would be a logical step for them.
LOL Awesome. I wonder if some eccentric millionaire will ever rent a stadium just to play games on a huge screen with friends.
@SmileMan64 I think I recall a Conan O'Brien video where he rented a football stadium to play Street Fighter games on, if that counts.
@stuffiwrote Happy to see I'm not the only Met's fan who reads this site. But do you really want that guy? He's going to bog down payroll for a decade and be selfish as hell the whole time. I would chase after Machado if I had a choice, but hes a dope too. Get more arms in the pen!
I remember Christian Yellich or someone on the Brewers playing Fortnite on the big screen last season. This is way cooler though.
Kansas City resident here. I saw this on the local news and was a little envious of the people playing this.
Please. Think of the aspect ratio. My eyes bleed.
Hey, we gotta keep those screens functional somehow! Hopefully more sports stadiums jump on this off-season bandwagon.
The humongous new screens at Wrigley would be perfect for this since they’re actually widescreen and there’s TWO of those bad boys for some insane head-to-head action.
Wished I could play my games like that, on a super-sized screen and force everyone around to watch me.
♪♫ Kauffman's 2000 inch TV! ♫♪
Looks like a terrible aspect ratio. Plus based on that distance it looks like it effectively would be a 20" screen from 3-4 feet.
@humbucker US Cellular Field has a widescreen right in the middle; a smash bros grand finals could get nuts there!
