NIS America has announced the western release of RPG Maker MV for the Nintendo Switch has been delayed.
In a news announcement on the company's website, it was revealed the game's launch was being pushed back in order to deliver the best product possible. The update cited ongoing issues with development as the main reason behind the delay. Here's the post:
"We always strive to deliver the best product possible to you, the fans, with each title we release, and RPG Maker MV is no exception. With this goal in mind, we wanted to give you all an update on the current state of this title. Due to ongoing issues with development, the release RPG Maker MV will be delayed. We are working to resolve these issues, we anticipate the release date to be later in 2019. We apologize for any inconveniences caused to those who were looking forward to the release of RPG Maker MV, and when a new release date is confirmed, we will be sure to update our channels accordingly."
The Nintendo Switch version of the game was originally due out in North America on 26th February 2019. The European release was also scheduled for a 2019 release. As noted in the above post, NIS will lock in a new release date in the near future. Hopefully, it's not too far off.
Have you played the RPG Maker series previously? Were you looking forward to playing MV early this year? Tell us below.

Eh, if I were to try and get back into this, I have the Steam version. I'd prefer to have more control over what would be in my game.
This game apparently has the Mario Maker problem on steroids.
You have to play 180 days consecutively to unlock everything, going by the Japanese version.
I am in no hurry.
Im curious to see whats coming
The 3DS game, RPG Maker FES, was absolutely plagued with bugs and translation errors. If such a delay means a more polished product, I'm all for it.
I had done on a fan-translation of the first Super Famicom game. It is SO easy to mess something up and crash the game spectacularly in the process.
I managed to find one such out-of-bounds cursor glitch, in the original game code, which could crash the game and as I recall would reset the game's memory (including the user game). Though admittedly I think that would only happen if you scrolled the cursor off the menu AND then pushed the A button to activate the menu item. And I would hope that one would think that after seeing something that's obviously not supposed to happen, you would want to turn off the game before predictable bad stuff happens.
well delay is better then releasing a half ass rushed product like so many other sloppy devs do these days
Figures, just when I decided to pre-order it.
I believe the japanese version has english translation in it too, so if you don't feel like waiting that is an option.
Yes I've heard it's quite broken so a wait and fix approach is the correct procedure!
@Retron you need to get some other type of help here and NL, Nisa isn't the problem.
@Expa0 and you think they are the only ones doing this. Wakeup bevas.
@KingMike fans translation isn't the same as something coming from company with more risk. Your translation doesn't have consequences compared to theirs.
@Joeynator3000 more trolling must be your pastimes.
I hope they offer the ability to download and play people’s games without purchasing the game like with RPG maker FES. I’m not interested in making my own, but I’d like to try out some of the better things the community makes
@Whalehome
I believe that has been confirmed to be the case.
NIS America seems to always aim for a polished product. All their Switch games have been of high quality. Good for us (and them) to not release an unfinished product. RPG Maker MV for Switch is one of my most anticipated NISA titles, so hearing the news is great.
Noooooo. This is actually one of my most anticipated games of 2019. But I guess if it means a better end product then that's good. The Japanese one doesn't yet have the download app available to play other's games so maybe it has to do with that. Anyway, I hope we at least get grandia and grandia 2 and Final Fantasy 9 in the first few months of this year.
The news made me sad as RPG Maker MV is my #1 anticipated game for 2019. But it's fine, there are plenty of other games to play and the delay will result in a more polished product.
@VotesForCows SRDude, one of the more popular YouTubers in the RPG Maker community, did a review for the game, but it's pretty negative.
That's the only English review of the game I'm aware of.
@SwitchForce Was meant as a reply to a previous comment how the prior official game was bugged. Just saying I can see how that happens.
>We always strive to deliver the best product possible to you
that's a first for NISA
It's a shame but always important to put quality first
I have ANTHEM on the 22nd and probably will still be playing Kingdom Hearts 3... So this not on the list anyway
What I really like to know is if Ys IX: Monstrum Nox coming to Switch 😞
@Wolfenpilot687 translation is not the issue. the game is already out on pc and is translated perfectly fine. its getting it onto the platform that is taking a while.
@Joeynator3000 that plus keybaords for typing scripts/stories and events/cutscenes. No idea why rpg maker doesn't include scripts for action, strategy, roguelike and card games at this point.
I sure do like the 3ds version. Its so easy to use its stupid. However I have had such a brain block when putting stories together, I have yet to get a game out there for people to play. I dont want to upload some half ass'd demo of a game which usually never gets finished. There are to many of those already uploaded. There are also some very good quality RPG's uploaded. I find myself playing others uploads. Hopefully someday this block will end. I wanted to do a remake translation of Cosmic Fantasy 3 which came out on PCEngine but I need translated script and have no clue how to get that. Anyway its fun even if you just play made RPG's or Make your own.
