The skateboarding genre was once a video game powerhouse with series like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and EA's SKATE churning out new entries on a regular basis.
Since the glory days, Roll7's OlliOlli titles have arguably been the best skateboarding video game action we've seen. According to Eurogamer, the talented developer has revealed a double dose of side-scrolling skateboarding action will arrive on the Switch eShop on 14th February for £13.49/$14.99.
OlliOlli: Switch Stance brings together the 2014 OlliOlli game (previously released on the 3DS and Wii U eShop) and the 2015 sequel, OlliOlli2: Welcome to Olliwood. This is the first time Nintendo fans will be able to play the sequel, as it was never released on the Wii U or 3DS back in the day.
This new two-in-one release will include more than 120 tricks as you link combos from one end of the stage to the other. Each game has 50 levels and daily challenges. Adding to this, the sequel includes split-screen multiplayer for up to four players. Take a look at the trailers for both titles below:
Will you be making time for a skate session when OlliOlli: Switch Stance arrives in February? Tell us below.

Pretty sure i played the first one on 3DS as part of a Humble Bundle? But I don't remember it being my kind of game... I am glad Switch owners will get to play both games if interested.
possible purchase i remember buying the original on 3ds but i don't think it left that much of an impression either good or bad as i can't remember if i enjoyed it or not
I really loved the first game on 3ds, not sure if the 2nd brings enough news for me
heh... switch stance
I haven't played a Skateboard game since the old Tony Hawk games on PS1 and I think there was an N64 version. And the PS2 games. I was never any good at them, but I remember them being fun and having music I liked.
I'd probably be interested in a port or reboot of that series, for nostalgia's sake. But otherwise skateboarding games aren't that interesting to me.
@Heavyarms55 I am not interested in this style of a skating game at all to be honest. It's a shame that THPS5 got handed off to the wrong developer because that was a great series and I would love to see a proper comeback. Skate was also a great series that for some odd reason went away, I would love to have it on Switch.
@JayJ I remember my friend playing Skate but I never picked it up myself.
These are two of my absolute favorite games on Vita. Stoked to see Switch owners will have a chance to play these now. They’re so goooooood.
@nessisonett it’s a clever title.
tony hawk on the dreamcast was awesome fun. I dont think a 2d skate boarding game could surpass that but Im willing to give it a try if it goes physical..
@Painay I wouldn’t say these “surpass” the Tony Hawk series, but I don’t really think that’s the goal. It’s a very different gameplay experience.
Welp one of my wishes down. Ima go play a lottery ticket.
Never heard of this before, but I really love the look of it
Love skateboarding, but when it comes to video games, I prefer the EA Skate series over this sort of thing. Skate 4 seems like a pipe dream at this point, but there’s a new Steam game called SkaterXL that’s a lot like EA Skate, so I’m hoping that will come to Switch eventually.
I rather have THPS 2 or 3 ported instead, this olli game looks terrible.
@humbucker Yeah we pretty much have to count on indie developers to make the games that the big companies aren't willing to make anymore. It's why I love it when indie devs go beyond their pixel art comfort zone.
Played a little on the 3DS and it was okay but didn't really hold my attention for long. I don't think I'll be getting this.
@Primarina I agree looks aren't everything, however in this case they are. You cannot capture the essence of skateboarding with 30 year old graphics like that, its nonsense.
Hmmmm interesting, loved the first one
I loved getting into the side scrolling thps nature of the original. Will be double dipping (or triple dipping if you count cross-buy).
@humbucker Heard of a game called Session? That’s coming to XBONE but I’m hoping for it to release on Switch some day as well.
@brandonbwii indeed, it looks promising as well. Check out Skater XL if you get a chance. Similar games from different devs, so it’s cool we have a couple options.
@JayJ well said, agreed.
"I don't feel like coming back to all the levels I've miraculously completed on Vita by now, so if it's the first game, I think I'll skip it" - me back when this was first teased.
Well played, devs. XD
OlliOlli 2 is technically a double-dip as well since I got it in a Humble Bundle package earlier. But I can't say I ever intended to play it on GPD Win sticks where I royally sucked even with Vita ones. Time will tell if Joy-cons can remedy more of my clumsiness with this genre. XD
This looks rad.
@Ryu_Niiyama lol I scrolled down to find your comment first! Let me know the numbers please !
Yay! I'll definitely buy this, had a lot of fun with it on Wii U!
The second game is miles better than the first. The ability to chain all moves into a single level long combo and the branching paths make it so much more enjoyable. I played 2 first and loved it, and then found the original to be a bit of a chore.
@GrailUK lol I guess you saw me wish for it huh? Yeah didn’t do so well on scratchers. But I am winning at obscure game wishlist!
Can's wait to get this!!!
Olli Olli 2 is like the first game on steroids! It has a much better ost with better visuals to boot. At only $15 for both games it's a no brainer
@Primarina But this game looks like its a very old cell phone game. I can see this game being released for the 2ds maybe, but for the Switch?
Come on now, with games like Xenoblade & Valkyria 4 the Switch has proven that its powerful enough to run modern games just fine. There's no need to release a game from the 70's on the Switch, that's why they have the 2ds and 3ds for.
@Primarina Just like HIDEOUS GRAPHICS DO NOT EQUAL A GOOD GAME.
If you want to play real old games why not get a console from the 80s-90s instead?! Its illogical to buy a Nintendo Switch in 2019, just so you could play modern games that are pretending to be old school.
You're clearly very emotional over this subject, so this will be my final reply to you as well.
@Primarina I never said graphics = good game, I merely said that this specific game won't give skateboarding the props it deserves.
Its like making a martial arts game with stick figures, doesn't matter if you think its fun its silly looking and makes you think they had the budget of a broke unemployed college student.
@Primarina That's completely false, there's many games out there with insane levels of realism. Red Dead Redemption 2 is 1 of them. Which is why I have high expectations from video games.
Also didn't you say it was your last reply like 2 replies ago?
@Primarina You mean simplistic, Shaun White Skateboarding is more realistic than Skate and so is THPS2 & 3.
Also Stickman skate is more realistic than this olli garbage that you're so emotional about, AND its free so jokes on you for paying money to play something inferior on a 299$ system.
