The 'Year of Legendary Pokémon' celebrations are finally coming to an end, with the final free distributions now fully underway. This final giveaway allows players to get their hands on Lugia and Ho-oh.
These legendary Pokémon first appeared way back in Pokémon Gold And Silver on the Game Boy Color, starting the now-consistent trend of legendary beasts appearing on each game's front cover. Each will be available in either Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon or Pokémon Sun and Moon, and their stats will differ depending on which game you plan to send them to.
Lugia is exclusive to the Sun versions of the games, while Ho-oh is exclusive to the Moon games. Here's all the info you need on which creature you'll be able to get your hands on:
US players will need to visit their local participating GameStop store between now and 25th November to receive the Pokémon; UK players must visit their local GAME, and codes are being given out at GameStop in Ireland until the very same date.
Will you be adding either of these Pokémon to your team? Which one's your favourite? Tell us below.

It's 2018 Nintendo, you can do this via Mystery Gift you know...
And I'm not traveling almost 2 hours to nearest game shop for this.
@Tsurii Couldn't they just release a code online and say ''here ya go, have fun!''? Are they all the same codes?
Let me guess... limited to the countries that have such stores?
@Rayquaza2510
Sometimes they do it over wifi, but this is a business deal to get potential customers into retail stores.
I have a Best Buy only about 10 minutes away, but I have a Gamestop and Target in the same parking lot 1 minute away, makes that 10 minute drive a non-starter.
And for everybody wanting online codes, they'll probably come for the new games with a paid NO subscription. Great for people who've paid, not for the others.
Nintneod should market the $35 NO yearly subscription Family price next to the $50 Pokeball Plus, makes online look like a steal.
“This is awful, Pokémon are locked behind a paywall because I have to travel for two of them!” Am I doing that correctly?
It would be neat for the 2019 game if they distribute Pokémon through the Switch newsfeed, like they did some cooking items in BotW.
In-store exclusive. PASS!
@Tsurii I was thinking of putting up a code on Twitter, but via email could also work... Weird though!
I missed out the Zeraora code as my nearest game store is far away from mine.
It is a bit awkward going out of my way to get them but at least this month I’m going to Game to pick up Lets Go Pikachu anyway.
It’s not even that it’s far away from me it’s just working it around work and family schedule.
Missed most of the events this year but made sure to get the new mythical.
Glad I have a Target and Gamestop both on my work commute, makes it easy to snag these. But I really wish they’d stop. I’ven’t bought a single thing from them during these trips and for a lot of people it’s a hassle. Like a proto and awful version of Pokémon GO
@Tsurii Yeah, seriously, I can't remember if the American region has even HAD a plain Mystery Gift download for USUM or if every single one has been a ***** code. I got so many I just forgot to use it's ridiculous.
Hey, remember when there was a way to get these for free without having go to a Store to do it?
I Remember.
Why can't they do it Online or have it easier to get if it's so free why do you make it so hard to just get them.
...Wait a minute. I thought that the US codes are available at GameStop? Or is Serebii wrong?
@Tyranexx Nope Serebii is right US codes are available in GameStop not Best Buy I know because just yesterday I got mine they even offer me Zeraora again but I already had the code
@ryancraddock You might want to edit that little mistake
@GKO900: Thanks for the confirmation. Glad to know that I'm not going crazy.
Uk get done over as most game stores are in admin. The game store in my town closed years back and the closet one twenty miles away and i can't drive lol.
It's a 1.5-mile hike to my local Gamestop (found far in the depths of a mall). It turns out that I do not have the willpower to travel the cold, damp 90-minute round-trip journey.
If it have to be a retail store, I'm glad it's Gamestop; at least they are specialized to know about stuff like this. Some can automatically tell and will give you 2 no problem.
I missed the event last month at Target because the 2 staffs working the station had zero idea about the event and got none after explaining and waiting 20+ minutes. The month before I had to explain it to the old security guard at Best Buy who "had" the code and will only give one (good thing I had my gf with me).
I do prefer Mystery Gift but I understand keeping a relationship with physical retail store in this digital online era.
Well not like I just can't di wonder card injections. But it is an excuse to stop by my local GameStop.
Holly goats and I missed asking GS about the cards. I'll have to do that tomorrow and get 4 for my pokemon set.
