Sad to see Dark Souls Remastered have such a mediocre performance in the charts. Hopefully it's done better in the West.
is 43k fine for Dragonball Fighters z? its still more than new Soul Calibur in PS4
@ilikeike I think it has as last I checked I was surprised to see it number 5 on the eshop chart in NA. What was more surprising was Diablo 3 was number 1.
Getting ready for smash! (hurts to see such low SCVI numbers)
Aye, people either want to be ready for the holiday releases, or want to avoid queuing for presents they already decided on.
@ilikeike
This is a port. Of a remaster. Of a seven year old game. These are the physical sales only. And it's only Japan. These numbers really aren't that bad. If the weekly sales stick around that number for the holidays, they're doing really well.
Nintendo owns Japan now, if only third parties also brings the big games to Switch at the same time, then PS4 sales would had been way down. With Pokemon and Smash Ultimate incoming there's no hope for PS4 in Japan.
Neko Tomo ?!
Doko ?
Doko ni ?
The fact that these sales are there without Smash or Pokemon is impressive on it's own. Sure, Mario Party consistently sells well (at least on consoles) but if this is how well they can do without anything big, Nintendo is gonna have one doozy of a holiday season again.
@Pod I'm well aware of all that. However the PS4 version sold significantly better when it released earlier this year, and I'd imagine that the Switch version could have done similarly well if it hadn't been delayed so badly.
@ilikeike Dark Souls is riding high in the European eShop. It was number one, has now been replaced by Diablo 3. Good stuff.
@Captain_EO That's good to hear! I haven't checked the European charts so I wouldn't know. Here in the US it seems like it had the spotlight for barely a week before Smash and Diablo hype took over
Can't wait til 2019
In Europe, it's the reverse effect... Sells are going down...
Readying themselves for the Pokemons next coz you know....Japan and Pokemon.
might be stocking up thinking that sales. in countries that celebrate Hanukkah and Christmas will run low and they can sell on ebay and Amazon for some jacked up price....
I see it all the time, that and where they buy a brand new game, a system, sell it as a "bundle" (with a pic of the official bundle displayed), but they charge an extra $40-$50
since they don't usually word it as "official", selling all items together in one package is legally considered a "bundle" and complaints to Amazon and ebay are ignored.....few negative ratings
so next time you go looking at ratings on a particular reseller, be verrry, verrry distrusting
There is seriously no need to worry about Dark Souls sales. If you look at the sales of the Remaster on PS4/XBONE, they really weren't that impressive (400K on PS4, and a paltry 60K on XBONE!). It actually stands a chance of being the best selling of all of the ports. It will certainly pass the sales of the XBONE port.
Calm before the Pokemon/Smash Bros storm...
One question I do myself, do we have an rate of total digital sales?
With the Switch, I decided by the first time to go fully digital because it simply doesn't make sense anymore to keep holding lots of carts on the bag, and makes sense to just have them in the SD card.
My question is, how many people is moving to Digital with the Switch? I'm sure we are a lot of people who stopped buying physical on the Switch.
Really wish we could see weekly UK and USA sales.
As it definatly feels like it's not selling in the UK
Well we are soon at the holiday season, so I don't think a rise in sales is that unexpected.
@Cobalt source? I'm assuming the usual, tales from you a*s
@ilikeike It's still #5 on the US eshop, behind Undertale now. Really don't know what people see in that game, but different strokes, I guess. I'd say DSR is doing quite well for a 7 year old game, and the fact it got delayed by 5 months.
@Cobalt I am in Europe and I can assure you that sales do not go down as you say. In fact, it is quite the opposite. Which reminds me: Where did you get this false information from?
@gortsi Wait a sec...
Obsessed with the charts. Complains about no real Switch games and everything being ports. Spams comment sections to get a reaction. Loves the Wii U. Whereabouts in Ireland is France?
@Cosats @gortsi
Chain Stores in France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany and Holland...
The sells are going down, Sony sells an average of two to three times what Nintendo does...
@Lord I don't understand why people think that. I have a Switch and I know ten other Switch owners and a number who are getting Switch for Christmas. Breath of the Wild has not left the UK charts since it launched over a year and a half ago that alone is proof the console is still selling.
@Cobalt So in the USA. Was the only system with YOY fall in sales in September.
Also, after 2 quarters. PS4 has outsold it by 2.1 million units Globally. So wherever the shortfall is from, it can absorb the extra Japan sales and still be a deficit 🤔
@Cobalt link please
@Wanjia I read last week in an article from the summer the SSBU Switch bundle went on sale in Japan this week, or maybe even next. I don't know why so late, might have been the same day as the Pokémon bundle, but that's what I read. Things may gave course changed sine when that article was written. I do think though Switch sales would have ver, or will be, higher the week that bundles releases.
I may have put some links in this same article last week.
Yup, post #11
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/10/switch_maintains_a_firm_grip_on_japanese_charts_despite_slight_drop_in_sales_this_week
I figure as much the sales will go up and down but never die off completely for Switch as naysayers wanted it to die off but just look at these numbers:
1) Switch – 43,747 (37,855)
2) PlayStation 4 Pro – 8,847 (10,975)
Now whom is eating whom lunch now. If you want to survivie and sell more consoles having only one big games will not be how you weather the Gaming community buyers. And look at BoTW almost going to be two years going and it still listed up there so don't tell me it has staying power.
Just look here:
1) [PS4] Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII (SIE, 10/12/18) – 39,077 (417,990)
7) [NSW] The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Limited Edition Included) (Nintendo, 03/03/17) – 4,628 (1,147,476)
Something still from 2017 still listed now you have to ask why.
All Nintendo numbers got Up, all others got down. HUmmm
@Cobalt we have to talk.....
"Do you expect hardware sales to rise as Pokémon Let's Go and Smash Bros. Ultimate appear on the scene?" Is there ANYONE remotely familiar with video games that doesn't expect that??
@Agramonte
Strange... ^^
@GrailUK
@cobalto Go ahead.
@Cobalt Looks legit. Nintendoomed.
@Cobalt I do think you talk out of of your backside at times but you do make me chuckle so please do carry on
@toffeecrit
To laugh is something FUNdamental...
For anyone concerned about Dark Souls, it was the second most downloaded game for the month of October on the European eShop. Considering it's a port, which seems to upset so many people, and one which was subject to a hefty delay, I think that's good going.
@tanasten I really like Digital, but sometimes I want a person to try a game I have or I need to sell a game I don't play anymore.
Great to see so many western games doing well in Japan.
Debacle for Dark Souls on Switch 🙄
@Agramonte Dark Souls was the second most downloaded game for the month of October on the European eShop.
@WiltonRoots don’t summon that which you can’t put back.
@WiltonRoots besides Ireland he also has access to other massively important markets such as Belgium (lol) and Luxembourg (ROFL). I heard there's piles of switches in other countries too, like San Marino, the Vatican, and Liechtenstein, so I'm guessing...doomed?
@Ryu_Niiyama Good point, there's enough poison in the well round here as it is.
didn't the limited edition Smash version release ? wouldn't that spike sales?
I’m here playing red dead 2, waiting for Pokémon and the ball.
@ilikeike
Absolutely. I think they decided to release it even if it was late, mostly as a proof of viability for publishing on the system. To that end, it serves the purpose, and also manages to introduce Nintendo-only players to the franchise.
I believe many made the same move like me...
Buy a Switch in advance for Pokemon & upcoming Smash Bros to avoid console out of stock during the launch period...
@Captain_EO this is just based on what I'm seeing, I work in retail and we have not shifted a switch console for weeks, even with it bundled with a AAA mario title.
Choose one Mario title (Mario party, Mario kart, Mario oddessy, Mario tennis) plus New switch neon or grey £289.
Our head office has even stopped us stocking many new releases this year as the sales are so slow they don't want to risk buying in title which they can't vouch for how it will sell.
Monster hunter, Diablo 3 etc
@Lord and whom is your employer then? People don't buy because you want them to buy. I don't work in retail but considering Nintendo is now able to make production inventory available that doesn't mean sales have stopped.
@gortsi That reminds me there's another poster in here who bears a much more incredible resemblance to the posting habits of our favourite Celtic basement dweller, he complains about the site, late articles, hates amiibo, loves the Wii U, goes on about how expensive everything is...
@WiltonRoots the similarities are scary, aren't they
