11 bit studios and Deep Silver have announced today that the critically-acclaimed anti-war survival game This War of Mine is coming to Switch in its most comprehensive edition yet.
Originally released in 2014, This War of Mine has been expanded with new scenarios, settings and characters in the years since, and has earned widespread acclaim for its gritty, heartbreaking and brutally uncompromising portrayal of how war destroys the lives of innocent people, both young and old.
The Switch edition - which was revealed a while back and, we're told, has been developed exclusively for Nintendo's system - will include all of the DLC released so far: "Father’s Promise”, "The Little Ones." and "War Child" - the latter of which continues to raise funds for the UK-based charity of the same name which is focused on aiding children living in active war zones. It has also been confirmed that this new version will get all upcoming DLC free of charge.
This War of Mine Complete Edition launches on Switch on November 27th. Let us know if you'll be downloading it by posting a comment below.

Well I was always interested in this for my PS4, but I never got round to it. This Switch port definitely piques my interest as playing these slower paced on the go seems like the best way to enjoy them.
Edit: And there is a physical edition coming. No idea if that is coming on the same day but for £30 I'll give it a go.
Controls were terrible on the ps4
So, what do you actually have to do in this game??
Got no idea from that video
@Bunkerneath You and a bunch of fellow war survivors hole up in a building. During the day, you work on improving the base, using materials to upgrade security, comfort, food production and tool/weapon construction. You need to ensure your survivors are fed, rested, have requisite medical attention and are not suffering from PTSD. Occasionally someone will drop by to trade items or to ask for help.
Then, during the night, you go invade other buildings to recover food, weapons, tools and materials for crafting or selling. There's a pretty good (almost game-breaking) stealth combat mechanic, but if you go around killing innocents, your characters will eventually have a breakdown.
Great game! Can be pretty bleak, but highly recommended.
@Bunkerneath It's agame about civilians surviving a war in a besieged city, inspired by the war in Yugoslavia.
It has a simple tapping interface (I assume Switch will use touch controls) and the game is separated into two phases: day, during which you produce food and reinforce the house you reside in, craft items, encounter random scenarios (like someone asking you to help them tend to an injured person or selling things) and manage your survivors' health and mental stability.
When the night comes you select what your survivors do (sleep/guard/scavenge) and then select a place on the map where you can send your scavenging survivor. There you gather crafting materials, food, barter with other survivors and encounter dangerous situations, like a sniper taking potshots at civilians (i.e. you), bandits attempting to rape a girl or old people just living peacefully on the outskirts (and thus are unable to resist getting robbed). And of course if your survivor does or witnesses something morally questionable, it's going to take a toll on his or her psyche.
Generally it's like Don't Starve, but depressing instead of whimsical.
The first person aspect in the trailer should had been the actual gameplay. I buy this if it's like that, the 2D aspect doesn't look too tempting.
@Kiz3000 Well, it was a PS plus game not more than 2 years ago I think. I got it that way and I have been a ps plus member for around that time I believe. Never touched it, still in the hard drive.
"Developed exclusively for" is marketing-speak for "ported to."
I thought this one looked interesting when it was revealed definitely coming sooner than expected- too many games to play!
Well tot that price with all dlc its a steal
Paid $10 or less for it on PC. At that price it was worth a playthrough, but it got dull quickly, little replay value.
As long as this becomes Physical that will be worth getting.
Played it on a tablet but couldn't get into it
It depends a little on the price but if it's like 15 Bucks, I'll give it a go.
Its a good game. Played on PC sometime ago. But it is really really depressing. Basically you are in a realistic hell having to choose who will suffer more.
Heard good things about this!
The trailer ends with YouTube suggesting me five videos about Frostpunk. Can we have that for Switch as wel?! 11bit were unclear on that half a year ago, and I suppose it will depend partly on how well This War of Mine does.
A game that's literally free with Twitch Prime and who knows what else? No thanks!!! Some of these switch ports are really making me shake my head.
Getting the most complete version of a several years old port? Well, that’s a privilege.
War is underrated.
Physical edition, please. It's one of the few games that actually directly supports a charity through sales, so I'm fine double-dipping for this one.
This game really interests me, on paper it's right up my street but 35 squid seems a bit steep seeing as i'm sure its sub £20 on other systems? November/December is pretty busy anyway so i'll probably just wait for a sale...
