Blowfish Studios has revealed Subdivision Infinity DX, an "immersive and pulse-pounding" sci-fi 3D space shooter which acts as a deluxe edition of the game's original release on smartphones. The new release will blast its way onto Nintendo Switch in "early 2019".
The game sees you stepping into the cockpit of an intergalactic fighter, exploring the great expanses of outer space. With more than 40 story missions and sidequests spanning several star systems, Subdivision Infinity DX has been described as an "action-packed journey brimming with dogfights, boss battles, and more", all set against a backdrop containing the outer reaches of space.
Here's some information on the game's story from the PR:
The story begins when contractor Sgt. Jed Riddle is brought in to investigate a mining facility that has mysteriously gone radio silent. A tense shootout ensues, leading Riddle to take a closer look into what exactly is going on and the dark secrets lurking in the shadows.
Beyond the core narrative and exhilarating feeling of piloting a nimble spacecraft on the fringes of the galaxy, Subdivision Infinity DX features an array of optional content to allow players to explore the stars to their hearts content while taking on bounties, mining asteroids for rare minerals, unlocking new ships, and crafting increasingly powerful upgrades along the way.
Ben Lee, founder of Blowfish Studios, has said that "exploring outer space in Subdivision Infinity DX is an absolute blast. We look forward to allowing players to live out their sci-fi fantasies in the game when it launches for PC and consoles early next year.”

Always nice to see we will have a decent choice of space shooters on the Switch in the upcoming months. I still put all my stock on Everspace... but I am sure I will get this one as well. Can you believe at one point this genre was simply dead?
@Shiryu ALL THE SPACESHIP GAMES!
These are some of my favorite kinds of games, but the fact that it began as a mobile title is always a bit disconcerting. Something just doesn't feel right when those games are ported to Switch. I'd like to be pleasantly surprised or proven wrong though.
@Dualmask - yes I agree. Felt the same way with Mantacore: Galaxy on fire, which I thought received far too high scores in reviews.
If you're playing on a mobile device and want a quick blast on the bus, fine. But that game was almost made out to be a kind of space-sim/rpg as well, and it was nothing of the sort (not even in the same book, let alone the same page, as something like Elite).
Fingers crossed for this one but am definitely going to read some in-depth reviews before I get it. Have to say though that it coming from a mobile game doesn't fill me with confidence, simply because complex controls and depth for long periods of play don't sit well with the format.
@cfgk24 As many space ships the universe can fit (or your microSD card, whichever can hold more).
will there be multiplayer too?
Manticore definitely left me wanting since I felt it was very wash, rinse, repeat. Too much repetition made it a bit of a slog to run all the way through. I find myself just playing a few levels at a time cuz it gets boring too quickly for me.
@Filbert_Wang exactly, games should be built from the ground up with the device in question in mind. The Switch is a mobile device but it's also a home console, and typically mobile games are built to be played with one hand while out and about, not built with that much depth. I never played Elite, but I heard about it and always wanted to try it. I hope a developer comes along and makes a real space dogfight sim with some actual depth for Switch. Meanwhile, like you said, fingers crossed for this one... cautious optimism.
@DigiF4N actually no this is not what i'm looking for, more on the lines of Starcraft/FortNite for the Switch
@Shiryu Fit all that plastic into your apartment more like! 😊
This looks pretty amazing. I hope it plays well.
Start fox zero Ultimate Wii U port with multiplayer!
Wow, we're getting this, Everspace and Starlink so close together? I can't recall the last time we got a decent spaceship based shooter before this.
@link3710 Also, Rebel Galaxy Outlaw. I have high hopes for that one..
@Filbert_Wang I totally agree with your synopsis of Manticore. I purchased it based on the review and thinking it was more that it was, which is a mobile phone game with quick short missions in a confined play area.
Would love an Elite Horizons for switch.
@fco I hadn't even heard of that one! This is kinda crazy, there's been like, no space based games in forever and now we're getting four in the span of half a year.
@MaSSiVeRiCaN I am slogging my way through Manticore too, and agree with your comments. The space environment here looks similar to Manticore, though the trailer sure does sell the idea there will be a lot more action in Subdivision Infinity.
I really wish Manticore had a demo. I like what I see, but I just can't pull to the trigger to get it off my backlog. I've read reviews, etc., but I guess it's gonna take a STRONG sale for me to leap on it. It's looking that way for this game too as it looks gorgeous, but I'm missing that "it" factor for myself.
I'll never say no to space shooters! So sad it's a dead genre.
@Shiryu You know I just can't get into Everspace...the whole roguelike just turns me off it for some reason. I feel like I hit a brick wall over and over again. This is coming from someone who loved Independence War.
@Filbert_Wang @DualMask
To its credit, it uses the Unreal engine, and is also coming to XB1 and PS4. So something tells me when they call it DX they truly mean it is a deluxe version.
My only concern is the mission structure. I don't have an issue with mobile origins. A good game is a good game, even from mobile. They've made great strides over the years, so you shouldn't count out the format. I enjoy Manticore for what it is. Had a blast with it on my first few plays. However, the gameplay loop grew a bit stale. Boss fight, escort, dogfight, race, rinse repeat. My favorite part of the game was the exploration(which regretfully showed how limited the stages were). That said, the missions weren't terrible idea, they just need better structure. Hopefully, this game can deliver in that regard and good controls, then it may well be worth admission. It certainly looks shinier than Manticore, although Everspace is right around the corner as well, which looks phenomenal.
I hope it controls as good as it looks, and the missions are more varied.. might be worth checking out if it reviews well!
Everspace is coming soon, too!
I hope with all of these space games receiving love on the Switch that "Breathedge" makes its way over.. Subnautica in space... it looks so friggin' fun.
Fill my pantaloons with ALL the space games.
People can play the first location free on mobile if curious.
@NEStalgia Yeah man. Super disappointed when CCP gave up on EVE: Valkyrie . Understandable, but still. Always wanted it to be the WarFrame of space shooters that would fill the void for years.
@Agramonte Isn't Valkyrie still running? I know CCP got bought out, but it's still operating independently.
Technically Elite Dangerous is better but.....man I suck at that. I can't even dock the ship in the tutorial...
@NEStalgia It is still up. But they not updating it anymore. They also never fixed the UI (well by the time I left)
Yeah, I got into ED when the aliens showed up. But was just space target for every one else - never actually saw any either 🙄
@Agramonte Unless theres aliens 92.1 degrees above the landing platform in the tutorial, I shall never see them.
@Shiryu Everspace seems awesome! I'd love to play that and Rebel Galaxy Outlaw when they both come to Switch.
Also, when I get a Switch...
This looks promising, I'm digging these space shooters for sure. I'm not too bothered by it being a mobile game, I don't game on phones myself, but I don't doubt there can be some quality titles. I don't blame people for doubting phone games either, there are a few things always working against phone games(wonky touch only controls, microtrasactions, etc)
Smartphone game or not, the art direction is fantastic. Hope it turns out well.
@cfgk24 would love to see the Star Fox Zero port onto switch. I never owned or played the Wii U version and would love a chance to.
I want something similar to Star Fox. Which spaceship game should I get?
@NEStalgia I have yet to get tired of it to be honest. Did stop playing it on PC because now I want to see the whole 10 story sectors on Switch.
@Koudai1979 At long last, the time to use this has come:
Makes me want a new Rogue Squadron
@Shiryu
I know right. It's refreshing to see a bit of a Resurgence with these kind of games. Especially with so many games he's days wanting to be pseudo movies that try to take you on an "emotional journey" with predictable/cliche plots & c + movie level dialogue to boot, first person shooters, battle royales & such.
So I may support all of them most likely. I have Manticore which is pretty okay, Everspace looks pretty damn good, and this doesn't look shabby at all itself either. Going to have to keep an eye out for more info on this one.
@MaSSiVeRiCaN
While I enjoyed the title, I can definitely see where you're coming from with that. Wish I had waited a little bit longer there have it go on sale, but it is what it is. I don't exactly regret the purchase like I have some other games, but I could have waited for sure.
Yes! I'm ready for this! Love me some space combat games.
@iammikegaines I loved SFZero! The dual screen mechanic I found exciting!
What exactly makes this game “next-gen?” The article never quite explains this...
@gameboy1975 @bluedogrulez most reviews seemed positive on the game and I can say it was definitely decent but that's all it was. This looks more promising but I'll scope it out. Regardless looks like Starlink is going to satisfy this itch, but can never have too much of a good thing 😋
@gameboy1975 Manticore was a major let down for me. First because of the delay after I had already pre-purchased (and carved out an entire evening specifically to dive into it), and second because it was boring. Boring? A boring space sim? How do you make blowing things up in space boring!?
I am all in for Everspace, and this. Looking forward to seeing how they compare... I'll get whichever offers more SIM as compared to FIGHTER on the fighter/sim scale.
This game will takes forever to load...
@Shiryu lol yup!
