Since it was launched, Niantic’s mobile title Pokémon GO has been extremely successful. In July, new estimates revealed the game had gone from strength to strength surpassing a whopping $1.8 billion in total revenue. Although the game's player base had dwindled since its super-launch in 2016, $2 million was apparently still being spent on a daily basis.
According to Sensor Tower, the game has recently made a resurgence on the US iOS App Store - as the top grossing app on 12th August. As pointed out by Nintendo Soup, the likely reasoning behind this is because of the recent Pokémon GO Community Day. Before then, the mobile hit was in 14th place on the charts and the last time it was at the top was during the month of May.

Are you still playing Pokémon GO? Did you participate in the community day? Tell us in the comments below.

Nice!
Y?
A bit misleading, it's number 1 in revenue, not number 1 in downloads, which as you said in the article the player base "dwindled".
I checked in a couple times during Community Day, but to be honest, I had no idea the game was still this popular. When I was at the mall during Community Day, the mall was packed with people playing the game. It reminded me of the glory days of the game in the summer of ‘16 when we were all playing it.
@Camel-Bird Z?
Love Pokemon Go, play it everyday. Im always surprised at the number of people that come out to parks and such for community days.
But I though nobody played Pokemon Go anymore?

I guess the Let's Go games reminded people of it.
@19Robb92 people kept playing before let's go was announced, I think the community days and almost weekly events were the main reason for it
@fcscarel
That's a possibility as well.
I can only speak for myself, but the Let's Go games made me excited to re-visit GO.
Why not celebrate this news by adding me as a friend on Pokemon Go!

Hey just had an Eevee community day, during said events shiny Pokemon are more likely. I caught 8 shiny eevee. Good luck doing that over 2 years of normal gameplay. The game still has issues, but it is FAR better than it was when it was new. If you haven't checked it out in a long time, give it another chance. That's what I did after a year long break I started playing again in spring have enjoyed it all summer. The events especially.
The player base isn't what it was at it's peak, but trust me, there are still more than enough players running around.
Pokemon Go is an excellent game. I have been playing this game from last one year. Now its easy to get all latest apps and games for free on iOS devices using TopStore app. Download it from https://topstorevip.com/download/
