Grr got hyped by the first line on the article grrr!
Haven't used a single coin yet and I don't see it happening in the future. I really wonder why Nintendo even bothers with a program that I'm fairly sure most customers view as a cruel joke.
Had a birthday recently and got an email from Nintendo offering me a 30% discount on one eShop title. I was curious to find out more, clicked on the email and discovered that it only applied to about eight old 3DS and Wii-U titles. I don't even own a Wii-U and have about two games and a 2DS. Needless to say, the offer went unredeemed.
Nintendo could end the program tomorrow and I doubt that more than a dozen users would even notice.
40% off Metroid Other M for 80 gold points in 2018 on a dead console has got to be the most ridiculous offer I've ever seen. I bought that game years ago for $5 when stores were clearing it out and Wii U was still a going entity.
Just highlights the absurdity of no Switch rewards 18 months after launch. smh
I have 400 something gold coins and cant spend them because they don't want to ad discounts to switch indies or switch games.
Whats thw matter with people and the golden coins system?
Ye could easily spend it on discounts when purchasing a game in the switch eshop. Buy a 60 euro game, get 3 euro credit. Its not much, but I love getting a discount on other games. If I buy 3-4 full games I can buy a nice title like steamworld dig for free. They are giving us free games while they dont have to. I quite like thag system.
Even My Nintendo is a joke.
I read the headline and looked at the thumbnail thinking it was about a collaboration with Mario, Metroid, and Star Fox in the Paper universe.
If only...
My Nintendo is a joke. They can't even be bothered to give us some new Switch interface skins! What's up with that? I miss the good old days of Club Nintendo with unique physical rewards.
I just use gold coins for tiny discounts on Switch eShop purchases. It’s not much but better than nothing. If the larger discounts on the My Nintendo website weren’t all 3DS/WiiU or if the gold coins earned with purchases was higher then the program might be slightly better. I’d still like physical rewards though. It was fun to sell them on eBay.
I'd actually use the discount for Other M, since I'm playing through Trilogy now. Alas, I'm a lowly North American, so I cannot partake of a $12 purchase.
@SethNintendo I'm with you completely. Club Nintendo was outstanding in comparison. It was made so much worse by the constant promises of a new/improved program in MyNintendo. Instead, I don't pay attention at all anymore and don't even bother registering anything for points now. Lack of physical rewards and/or full digital games sucks.
@AirElephant my birthday eshop discount went unredeemed 3 years in a row. It’s a discount no one ever uses I suspect
I’ve lost loads of coins that expired just cos i forgot they were there. So glad they now allow you to use the gold coins for eShop discounts so now just spend each month the amount expiring.
@1UP_MARIO Same, cos its always for games I don’t want or would rather have physically. Literally, even a £2 eShop voucher would be worthwhile.
Is this a joke? Back in 2015, the European version of Club Nintendo was awesome. Nowadays MyNintendo just aims to patronise its loyal fan base.
If Nintendo wants people to use MyNintendo, it needs to do something about those poor rewards. Not sitting at work all day day dreaming, content whilst scoffing pizza from Pizza Express and hiring overpaid fat people, who don't have a clue about gaming.
@FX102A that would be great and I’m sure everyone would appreciate.
They gave me discounts on first party Nintendo games for the Wii u and 3ds and all of them I had.
Discounts on Mario kart 8
Splatoon
Mario Maker
Yoshis wooly world
Super Mario 64
Star fox 64
Mario kart 64
Why would I buy mario kart 8 and splatoon for Wii u on discounts when Switch games like splatoon and Mario kart 8 dx are similar price and also bought from Nintendo uk website.
"Rewards" they say...
I finished Paper Mario Colour Splash last night. It was great. They card battling system is annoying at first but becomes a lot more fun when you have to start using more then just jump and hammer cards.
And it's so witty. It also has a dark undertone.
Still waiting for the rest of the world outside Japan to get those Gold & Silver Themes as My Nintendo rewards... not gonna happen though.
nobody cares, Nintendo.
I know what i'm going to say is probably completely off-topic, but looking at that Paper Mario picture kinda justs reminds me of how much Nintendo messed the Paper Mario series. Thinking that replacing stickers with cards removes the problem, taking exp out of a RPG, I mean COME ON. I'm not even a huge fan of the series(in fact my first Paper Mario game was Sticker Star),but it pains me, a least a little, knowing that the last two Paper Mario games were not NEARLY as good as it should've been. I can just imagine how all the die-hard fans must be feeling up till today. I've actually enjoyed Sticker Star and Colour Splash(ESPECIALLY the dialogue), but knowing what the series once was, it's hard not to feel angry when looking at this game. I hope Nintendo will quenche the thirst of the hardcore Paper Mario fans with a remake of Paper Mario And The Thousand Year Door(I think that's what it's called), or a brand new Paper Mario game.
Sorry for being off-topic.
I need these franchises on Switch, not WiiU...
