We laugh in the face of superstition here at NL Towers. We couldn't care less if a black cat crosses our path, dramatically smashes a mirror and runs away underneath a raised ladder. That's absolutely the reason we've dug up 13 of the loveliest looking games coming to Switch in this fair month of July, it's definitely not just a number we reached arbitrarily.
We've compiled them all naturally and elegantly in the video above, so if you're on the lookout for some new games for this potentially summery month, make sure you give it a watch. If you're one of those big city bankers with only a few moments to snatch between meetings, you could instead just look at the related games list below. It's your choice, we can't tell you what to do.

Cough Shining Resonance Refrain cough
Urk, sorry had something in my throat there.
Octopath and Captain Toad pls.
I still curious about Go Vacation Switch.
How does Bandai Namco Re-Render the Trees , bushes and all plants into Proper 3D model, Not a Crappy Folded model ?
Octopath and Shining Resonance for me. So much else looks like shovelware
About one of those is really new (Octopath). The rest are ports, rereleases or shovelware.
Shining Resonance and Octopath for me as well. That sets me up for the month.
@riChchestM Pool Panic is new.
Like @GoldenGamer88 I'm also looking forward to Shining resonance.
Also want the Japanese release of Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai.
Nekopara vol 1 should also be interesting.
Octopath looks great, but living in Canada, at $80+ tax, it ends up bordering on $100, and it's very hard for me to justify such a price. Even in exchange of many hours of gameplay.
Might get tempted to get Captain Toad though. Or Mega Man X Legacy collection.
Getting Megaman X Legacy Collections 1+2 as well as Go Vacation. Like my classic games and pretend vacations.
Octopath and Pocket Rumble 👌
Not on the list, but Mushroom Wars 2 releases this Thursday on July 5th. I haven't played it yet but the first game was one of the most original and best games I ever played. You need to like to juggle math numbers in your head really fast but it was fun, and the online and offline multiplayer in this one allows for co-op teams, which my family is really looking forward to.

Bomb Chicken is a day-one download for me.
PreOrdered Sonic Mania Plus from PlayAsia 2 months ago.
Octopath... maybe. It's pricey and I have a gigantic backlog already
skipping Captain Toad because I was don't think it's worth the price tag... could get it for half the price
@riChchestM we can call them games.
Octopath for sure, and maybe Captain Toad.
Only Octopath for me. Have it preordered, which is a rare thing for me, with smythstoys for £35. Why people shop with amazon when there are so many cheaper and more reliable places is beyond me.
the reticle in docked in CTTT is disgraceful; so distracting
How the heck is Shining Resonance Refrain not here?!
I really want Oxtopath but I'm sure a ton of other games will take money from my wallet. I haven't bought so many games for a console/computer since my C64 years.
The sprite work and animation in Bomb Chicken really is top notch. Same goes for Sonic Mania Plus.
@GoldenGamer88 Thank you! Why is NOBODY on this site but me ever mentioning that game. It's been prominently displayed on the "sale" pages for a $5 preorder discount on both PSN and the MS store for many weeks, and it's a game that's coming to Switch day-and-date with the PC twins.....but nobody mentions it here at all.
1 Tode
2 Go Vacation
3 Pool
Not much there. I'll stick with Shining Resonance. Demo was good.
Need to save money for September anyway 🙄
@Anti-Matter Completely remake the game, which is why it's £39. Regardless, I'll buy it anyway. It's probably one of my most played Wii games.
Decent month in terms of games we know about. The Shining Resonance demo actually sold me on the game, too bad my wife's business is taking off and it requires intense capital. Also helps my wife has forbidden me to buy new games until I reach X Rank on each ranked mode in Splatoon 2. Octopath and double dipping on Captain Toad is tempting, as well. I won't get either of those right away, but when I can, I'll gladly replay Toad because I haven't touched my Wii U since Switch launched. The Octopath demos have been excellent and make the game seem great. But as I mentioned, I don't have the cash at the moment.
Also, do we know when SEGA is releasing those Ages games? I feel like we should hear something on that front soon. The 3D Classics on 3DS were pretty sweet, and honestly, I can see games being reworked for Switch as worthwhile purchases. Nintendo has been killing it with the Switch eShop, much more than I thought possible, and it's still going strong. We still have Dark Souls, Dead Cells, Shakedown Hawaii and others I know I'm forgetting to look forward to on eShop.
@riChchestM 11 of those are new to me, however!
Captain toad and possibly go vacation
@rjejr True and a nice game indeed. But Friday was June so maybe they announced it in a previous post.
I’ve barely even touched Hollow Knight yet because I’ve been playing Splatoon 2. Every time I turn on the Switch I go to Splatoon 2. I think I have a problem. I don’t even bother buying games anymore because I never play anything else.
I guess Splatoon 2 has saved me a ton of money, though, because I’ve only bought like 5 games the past year.
@Francema Friday was June but I meant this Friday, which is actually July 6th, but what I really actually meant was this Thursday July 5th. I've gone ahead and edited the date in my post to make it as clear as can be.
@justin233 my wife and I have played a lot of Splatoon 2 on our respective Switch systems. I haven't bought a ton of games because I'm trying to catch her on getting X-rank for each ranked mode. Still haven't made it past S+1 on any of them. So needless to say, Splatoon 2 has also saved me some money...
@rjejr oh, thought was out already! I read a lot about he game so far. Guess that it didn’t make the cut according to NL.
Can’t believe y’all forgot about shining resonance refrain
@Francema "oh, thought was out already"
Funny you should say that, I thought it was coming out on June 28th. Last week when they do the eShop articles I was looking for it and coudlnt' find it, when I went to the Nintnedo website and saw July 5th.
Borrowing NL's list above, plus Shining Resonance Refrain:
20XX - Blatant rip on MegaMan, with a girl and yet, I'm quite intrigued, but need a review. Backlogged for now.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker - I'll GameFly it
Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 - I can't win since Capcom pulled a Resident Evil Revelations and made it so either you buy part 1, download part 2, or digital download 2 outright. Meh. I'll drop a $20 on it so I can get on with playing X7 and X8... Heck, I'll even play X5 and X6 again to make it all worth it.
Octopath Traveler - Will likely GameFly it and play it like the Earth is standing still until I beat it lol
Pato Box - Backlogged and intriguing, but waiting for a review.
The Banner Saga 3 - I'll wait for a sale with all 3 parts
Shining Resonance Refrain - This will eventually get GameFly'd too, but not until I deal with Octopath Traveller first.
Got the wayfarer's edition of Octopath Traveler pre ordered but I'm also really looking forward to Adventure Time Pirates Of The Enchiridion. I've enjoyed a few adventure time games and graphically this new one looks closest to the animation used on the show and features the full voice cast.
Really strong month here. I'll be getting Mega Man X, Octopath, Code of Princess, Sonic, Captain Toad and Shining Resonance for sure. 20XX also like like a fun Mega Man-esque title so I'll keep my eye on that too.
I’ll wait on reviews for Bomb Chicken, but it looked fun back in its direct. I have Skyrim and Xenoblade 3DS & 2 to play if I want to play my RPGs this month.
My wallet weeps for July... I want almost all of these games
Bomb chicken all the way for me, looks like you'll have a blast playing it . It reminds me a little of Pocket Bomberman on the Gameboy Color which played more like a platformer than a traditional bomberman game.
@rjejr That looks good. Thanks for the heads up.
Doesn't Titan Quest drop at the end of this month too? Granted its an older game, but for those with a Diablo-esque itch that needs scratched, it's a good game.
@Sakura It's rare that I genuinely like something I'm happy to share. I just hope it holds up. The original came out around the same time as Swords & Soldiers and Plants vs Zombies and the sequels to both of those games weren't very good. PvZ 2 was a horrible freemium thing. Fingers crossed for this one.
Octopath Traveler is heavy on my mind!
I want Mega Man X Collection, Octopath Traveler, Shining Resonance, Pato Box, Code of Princess DX and Pocket Rumble.
@riChchestM MMX Collection, Bomb Chicken and Banner Saga 3 are new games.
@NEStalgia doesn't fit their narrative of Switch has no games.
@Dayton311 same man, same.
I will be very tempted to pick up the MMX collection. I only ever played through the first one, but I remember it was pretty amazing. Also slightly tempted by Captain Toad. I had no interest, but the demo was actually pretty fun and relaxing. 2018 has been a bit slow so far for major first party releases, but for ports and indies the Switch is bloody amazing.
Pretty tempted by the MMX collection! I only ever played through the first one, which was amazing and I think still holds up pretty well.
Seeing the gameplay footage of Bomb Chicken makes me wonder why Konami never tried to make a 2D Bomberman game in a similar style, it would be awesome
