Woah!
Ugly. I mean, I don’t like it!
@Francema You take that back, this controller is beautiful.
I’d feel wrong buying this for the switch. But i love the design!!!
Worth noting that not only is the controller GameStop exclusive, but it's also exclusive to American GameStop. International GameStops won't have any
@Slasher Nah, I'd have to agree with @Francema. Blue is my favorite color, but I just don't know who thought it was a good idea to give the controller a blue and gray color scheme. I don't think it suits Crash in the slightest.
@Francema @Slasher @Not_Soos orange design with the other things being green would be alot better fit to it.
I prefer White controller with Blue lined Crash Bandicoot.
@edgedino Or what could've been cool for Crash is a fiery color scheme with gradients of red, orange, and yellow incorporated into his outline. But yeah, it definitely needed orange at the very least. Not sure if I agree with the green for everything else, I would have to see it in action. It needs something on the back of the controller, too, like a large Wumpa Fruit.
@edgedino agree
Can somebody just release a fightpad with a 6 button Street Fighter setup already?
Sorry if that comment came off as trolling or hateful. I don't usually comment too much. I still stand by that the controller is cool-looking in its own right; however, I do agree that the color scheme don't fit Crash at all.
Yeah... cause when I think about Crash Bandicoot, I think "black, baby blue and grey"... what???
So it's a Xbox One controller with the buttons re-arranged for the Switch?
So will this be enough to get Crash Bandicoot into Super Smash Bros 5?
I already have 2 sets of Joy Cons, a Pro Controller, and an 8bitdo SN30 Pro controller.
Don't care, I need this.
Someone needs to explain this controller's lack of orange.
Wired so you don't suffer from input lag while playing crash bandcoot. Good thinking.
Shouldnt it be orange instead of blue? Granted, that’s a real nice looking shade of blue.
Nice. This another controller by PowerA?
@Not_Soos or wumpa fruit buttons but when u think about it its a cheap controller.
@edgedino Yeah, it's a shame we can't get something more quality, even if it were more expensive. I certainly don't want to buy one of these wired controllers. But the fact that an official Crash Bandicoot controller for a Nintendo system is even a thing is incredible, and I hope it gives credence to the idea he could show up in the latest Smash Bros. installment.
Insta buy since I couldn't find a xenoblade one.
@Orin41 For sure; these are wonderful times, though!
E3 had better bring us the confirmation of Spyro Reignited Trilogy for the Switch!
Edit: I was too young to appreciate Sonic and the heated rivalry between Sega and Nintendo by the time games like Brawl and the Olympics crossover were coming out. Heck, my first Sonic game was on Wii. So experiencing this transition with Crash is something very new (and exciting) to me.
If this is like those Walmart-exclusive wired pads, then count me out. They look like Pelican-quality controllers disguised as something Nintendo made themselves.
@Orin41
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by generation, but I should say I grew up in the early 2000's playing the likes of the Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, and PS2 (which my brother had several PS1 games for). By the time I was old enough to game, Sega had already left the console market, but I still grew up with classic 90's games--just not Sega, as I had never heard of them at the time. By the time I did know about Sonic, he and Mario were already bestest buddies. (I think I started exploring the Sonic franchise in 2007, probably because my kid brain identified him as that one guy from that one Mario sports thing. Cross-promotional marketing works wonders, eh?)
Mario was the face of my childhood and my favorite franchise, though it was probably the only Nintendo series I played at the time. (It was Smash Bros. that got me into everything else. Another score for marketing!) The games I had exposure to on PlayStation were a bit more varied, and my absolute favorite was always Crash. Specifically, I grew up with Crash 2: Cortex Strikes Back, which I still hail as one of my favorite games ever. At that age I had no idea that a few years prior these two characters--Mario and Crash--were heated rivals, but I at least understood they belonged in separate realms of existence.
I'm opposite of you, personally, in that I like Sonic but have always found him far inferior to Mario and Crash. In terms of challenge and level structure, I think the best way to describe the Crash Bandicoot series is a 3D version of Donkey Kong Country. Or, alternatively, a game like Super Mario 3D Land but with greater challenge and no timer. If this will be your first real Crash Bandicoot experience, I can't stress enough that you start with Crash 2, as the first game is fundamentally flawed. The trilogy remake rectifies a lot of the problems, but the controls are incredibly basic. (Imagine if before Super Mario 64, there was a 3D Mario game where you could only run and jump, no special moves. That's basically the first Crash.) The second is one of my absolute favorite 3D platformers and I think I would have to place it in my top 5 favorite games of all time. It's definitely on the same level of enjoyment as Super Mario 64 for me, personally.
I see a lot of hate for Crash among Nintendo fans who for some reason think the series is mediocre compared to Nintendo's own platformers, and it always makes me upset. I guess it's not for everyone, especially if you only want to play a 3D platformer that's open-world/sandbox and full of collectibles. But here's to hoping you'll come to appreciate the Crash series as much as I do when you get your chance soon!
@Not_Soos
Don't worry.
I had ever played Crash games on PS2.
Crash on Switch probably will be my next interest.
Well, i will watch first from Youtube before i consider.
Eww
@ReaderRagfish : It's wired, has no gyroscope, no HD rumble and no NFC reader. Completely barebones.
NintenWHOA
nice!
Crash.
I like you, but not enough to have a controller based on you.
I'll stick with just the N. Sane trilogy.
I have a Pro Controller for myself and one of these wired ones for my kids. They really do feel just the same except lighter.
I just might have to take that controller for a spin.
@Not_Soos ironically i did end up getting a wired controller and it has be great but i went for a different brand of officially licensed wired controller.
@Not_Soos the reason why so many Nintendo fans dislike crash may be due to the fact that it is true that it is a tad mediocre compared to Nintendo but that's only partially true. the first crash even updated graphically has not aged well, while the other 2 are phenomenal but there is also the possibility that people dislike the difficulty curb in the game since its higher then most Mario platformers made during and after its creation.
@Slasher what's beautiful about it? looks like a black Pro controller that had someone do a 3 min doodle on it.
Hopefully Power A releases a line of wireless controllers next with the same designs. I could even tolerate a lack of rumble, nfc and gyro if they were wireless. Love their designs and probably would've bought 3 or 4 of their controllers by now but wired is a no go. Perhaps they will in the future, this one looks great!
@KayFiOS Actually, they feel really nice and have a matte finish. I'd argue they actually feel similar in quality to the pro controller. Just without the rumble and gyro features.
Crash was really more of a rented mascot for the PlayStation. By the time Sony got into consoles the '90s mascot hype was kind of dying down.
So Sony got the publishing rights to the original PS1 games and then decided to push him as a mascot.
These wired controllers for switch all look great, but they're wired! No thanks. Make the pro controller like one of these and I'm in!
I'd just like to warn everyone and say this, PowerA makes cheap and faulty controllers. I highly recommend NOT buying their controllers. Every controller I've ever gotten from them broke either within a week or a month. And I'm not hard on my controllers at all. So be wary of them.
@KayFiOS I have two of the PowerA controllers, one being the Splatoon 2 Walmart Exclusive.
They're actually top-notch quality, even better than the wired ones by Hori which are officially considered the Nintendo quality brand of 3rd party controllers. I had so many problems with my Hori wired pad, two of them even had the same issue of up and down being reversed (no, not in the game, the actual controller) and I've honestly just loved every minute of the PowerA ones!
I'd say give them a shot if you're remotely interested for a high quality, inexpensive Switch controller for another player!
@DamnedSoul That sucks man, I've never had a problem with them, they're actually my preferred Switch controllers.
@Azikira @NinjaWaddleDee Okay, I guess I shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Sucks that it doesn't have a gyroscope, though. I think I'll just buy a pro controller.
@edgedino orange and green, no way! That would be terrible
@ReaderRagfish this one is wired, no hd rumble, gryo controls and amiibo reader, feels slightly cheaper, and just saying, the joysticks on this thing are huge
@JayJ not even close....
@MasterJay Well it closely resembles the X1 controller so...
@JayJ yeah, every controller looks like that, but the features are completely different....
@Azikira Well I'm glad they've worked for you. But every time I bought one, the buttons would either get stuck, or the analog sticks would have something wrong with them and moves things around in the menu or game without me touching it. I've had nothing but bad experiences with their controllers. I will say their joy con grip is nice though lol
I never liked third party controllers. They feel so weird and different compared to the real deal.
Yeah I only use wireless controllers, though there has been quite a few cool looking wired ones I just already have enough wires everywhere between my systems that i don't need another wired controller in my life lol.
