Back in March, we reported on the reveal of Taiko: Drum Master - known as Taiko no Tatsujin in Japan - a rhythm-action game featuring tunes from both Splatoon 2 and Super Mario Odyssey, and now Bandai Namco has unveiled the special Drum Controller that will accompany it.
The controller, based on a traditional Japanese taiko drum, comes with two sticks and a built-in stand - and even comes with a drinks holder (because playing the drums can be thirsty work). Right now, just like the game itself, the Taiko Drum Controller is currently a Japan-only release. We're still hoping it might make its way to our shores, even if those hopes are slim at best.

I think the "Drinks holder" is actually to give the thing balast for when you are hitting the crap out of it
Is that Wireless ?
I’m totally getting this.
Want! I had this on the PS2 back in the day and it was awesome.
REALLY hoping it comes to the west this time around.
With a proper song selection too.
Can't wait to buy this, keep it, and re-sell it at an exorbitant price later on.
WHEN
Edit: okay, found it, it's out in Japan July, 19th.
I plan to buy it regardless, but hopefully they'll have an international/English option just like the recent PS4 release.
Also, the chance of Donkey Konga being revived probably has a higher chance of happening than the Taiko no Tatsujin series getting localized. They're essentially the same game, but I wouldnt sneeze at either option.
I wonder if Konami want to release DDR again on Nintendo Switch with Dancing mat...

Want!!
Day one
Yay, this is out in time for my birthday. No space for the peripheral though so I’m hoping that there’s the usual option for button inputs and I’ll try and source some Japanese credit for a download copy.
It needs a second drum to be DK bongos.
And a microphone!
DK Bongos had a mic to hear handclaps
@dunnyone This is VERY different to Samba de Amigo (DC) maracas, if that's what you're referring.
@Pazuzu666 but it IS weird and rare. Or I’m sure it will be.
Okay, who is gonna be the first person to beat dark souls remastered with this thing? Get it? Beat!?
Have a couple of drums for Wii/Wii U, too bad they're not compatible with Switch, not gonna buy new ones as Taiko changes are neglecting for another pair of not so small & also useless elsewhere controllers.
Nintendo drumming up support for the Switch any way they can.
I enjoy Taiko drum games, plus bluetooth on PC for OSU.
I'm all in now Hori are releasing the drum kit.
The arcade versions of these things are nuts. I have seen people here in Japan doing things I'd not have thought were humanly possible. It's like Japanese DDR, only it didn't die out in 2009... lol And by that, I mean in terms of popularity.
@Heavyarms55
Psstt...
This song is a Real Nightmare from Taiko no Tatsujin.
Kitasaitama 2000, Oni difficulty
I. Need. This.
I didn't even realize Taiko Drum Master was released on Switch in Japan....time to add it on my Japanese eshop account! AFTER I can get this controller.
When does this go on sale. I wonder if Play Asia will be selling it?

Please let this game come to the west. I imported the DS version years back and the language barrier as a bit much.
Awesome, I wanna have it!
AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH SO HYPE THIS IS THE BIGGEST GAME OF 2018
I am surprised it's not made out of cardboard.
@Anti-Matter Thanks! For the game itself I may just go eShop due to the pretty high import cost to the US....but for this drum controller....I'll need to keep my eyes peeled for Play Asia!
BUYING!
Also that looks nicer than the wiiu one....I don't know how I feel about that. sob
@Pod It won’t. Series has been Japan only since drum master flopped in the west.
@JoeDiddley touch screen, buttons and motion controls for this one.
My wife loved the PS2 game so I will definitely be getting this.
@Ryu_Niiyama
They rebranded the concept for Donkey Konga, and that didn't do super hot either, so I'm certain you're right.
But a man can hope. Importing these isn't super cheap.
I might have to import this lol
@Anti-Matter The people I have seen can defy the limits of humanity and do it.
Ten years too late.
@Prizm 10 years? taiko games come out at least every two years. ps4 version just came out last year...
