We already know that LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 promises to be the real deal on Nintendo Switch, with all DLC and extras to be included. With that in mind we can perhaps allow ourselves to get quite excited for the November 14th / 17th (depending on region) release, as LEGO games can - when done well - be a treat.
For those eager to see more it's worth checking out the story trailer below, which showcases a lot of the usual LEGO zaniness.
Recently debuted at New York Comic Con (NYCC), the video stars lovable canine, Cosmo the Spacedog – telepathic Soviet cosmonaut, Knowhere’s chief of security and ally to the Guardians of the Galaxy – who is tasked with alerting and assembling an elite team of Super Heroes to take on the time-travelling Super Villain, Kang the Conqueror. Kang has stolen numerous Marvel cities and locations from across time and space to form the expansive Open Hub World of Chronopolis, in hopes to take over the universe. As a result, Cosmo’s call to action brings together a diverse group of Marvel Super Heroes from different time periods and realities – including Star-Lord, Thor, Spider-Man, Spider-Gwen, Hulk, She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Rocket Raccoon, Iron Man, Cowboy Captain America, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Groot and many more – who must all band together to foil Kang’s diabolical plans.
Below is some PR blurb on the season pass and 'deluxe edition' too, which will both be available on the Switch.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 Season Pass details were revealed and will feature six Level Packs and four Character Packs. The Level Packs will feature content inspired by a number of upcoming Marvel films and television series, including Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Marvel Studios’ Black Panther, Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and The Wasp, Cloak & Dagger and The Runaways. The Character Packs, including Agents of Atlas, Champions, Out of Time and Classic Guardians of the Galaxy, will add more than 60 new characters to the main game’s diverse roster of over 200 Super Heroes and Super Villains. The Season Pass will be available separately for $14.99, or as part of the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 Deluxe Edition, which features the main game, Season Pass, early access to the Classic Guardians of the Galaxy Character Pack and an exclusive Giant-Man LEGO minifigure (included in physical version only) for $74.99.
Do you plan to pick this one up on Switch?

My boy will be excited
Ew....
still no X Men or Fantastic Four? No buy
Story line sounds straight out of Lego Dimensions 2.
Cosmo Yakov Smirnoff was getting on my nerves, hopefully he's not in the game so non-stop as the trailer.
Was going to wait on this one until a sale next summer when the Avengers movie comes out but since we have Prime - $75 Deluxe for $60 standard price - and a Switch w/ not too many couch co-op games on it maybe we'll pick this one up for those long car trips and large family holiday gatherings.
wait - were the FF not in the first one?
edit: ya they were - and the X-Men were too. What are you people talking about?
@Aurumonado they were, but not in lego marvel avengers the videogame, which technically wasn’t a sequel but a whole different series.
@Mando44646 @Drac_Mazoku Do we have confirmation that they won't appear at all or is the marketing just focused on MCU tie-ins?
@Jaxad0127 No confirmation but at this point, we should have the complete roaster. Can't believe they would hide Wolverine so close to release.
You can see an unofficial list here : http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/LEGO_Marvel_Super_Heroes_2
And it seems that it's all the universes from Disney & Sony, yet with the Marvel Comics counterparts (whereat LEGO Avengers was full MCU) and secondary characters that aren't in movies.
As the first Lego Marvel Super Heroes one was also a bit like that (MCU-flavored with the rest of the MU) and here it is not, I believe that this may be a rights issue ? But even then, who would fight to keep their Fantastic Four video-game rights ???
@Jaxad0127 no, but they are not in the planned DLC (in the article) and they were also entirely left out of Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite too
@neufel Fox only holds film rights for X Men and FF. Marvel retains all merch and other entertainment rights (Fox had to negotiate with them to get TV rights to make X Men shows)
I'll still get this game, even though the X-Men/FF aren't in it. I can always play the 1st game for that. Sucks, but the exclusion of Fox franchises is not going to prevent me from future fun.
@Mando44646 Thanks !
