Yesterday we got a press release informing us that WayForward has teamed up with Last Dimension to bring its magical misadventure Mystik Belle to consoles. However the Switch was not on the agenda; only the PS4 and Xbox One are getting this title at present. That's pretty normal for some publishers, but WayForward?
When an eager fan queried this omission, the studio revealed that the lack of GameMaker support for Switch is the problem:
The good news is this might not be a problem for much longer as the GameMaker site states that support for Switch is being explored. So we might have a happy ending after all!

GameMaker support would be awesome
Sooo that also means no Undertale as long as there is no GameMaker support?
If GameMaker Studio eventually adds support for Switch export, it's gonna be huge!
That would mean that games like this, Undertale, Hyper Light Drifter, Hotline Miami, Downwell, Momodora, VA-11 HALL-A and countless other fantastic games made with the engine will be much more likely to have a Switch release, since they won't have to remake it in another engine!
Plus it also means I finally have the chance to make a Switch game, since GameMaker Studio 2 is my favorite game engine lol.
I hope they add support for Game Maker soon if it means we can get games from developers as great as Wayforward! The Switch is officially my favorite machine for indies so the more the merrier!
Gimme my Game Maker on Switch so that Rivals of Aether can move over! I'm begging you, Nintendo & YoYo Games!
EDIT: There's hope too! https://help.yoyogames.com/hc/en-us/articles/230330328-GameMaker-Studio-2-FAQ
I'd be happy if WayForward would bring Double Dragon Neon to the Switch. Double Double "IV" is just abominable.
What happened to the Mummy game guys??
@joey302 my thoughts exactly. I literally can't find anything on that game aside from the initial announcement and screenshot, and now that the september release window has passed (and the movie is all but forgotten) I fear it will suffer a quiet death.
There was a lot of hidden gems made with GameMaker for PC/PS4/X1, i hope they add support for Switch export soon.
I use it as a hobby and it's a very powerful 2D engine and not very hard to learn, no wonder a lot of indie developers use it.
This is actually a really nice little game and would be a perfect fit for the switch, especially if a co-op mode was to be added. This is on steam already and definitely worth a look. I reviewed it myself a while back if anyone cares to read more into it.

@Fragarach probably cause the movie didn't do very well but that doesn't mean it can't be a great game still, especially with Way Forward at the wheel. Hmmm maybe they did kill it 🤔 but I hope not. I'll have to tweet those guys 😃
Oh my God if Game Maker support could be added, I would absolutely start having my own games on the system!!!
Well I know what play this October on my Xbox One! I thought this was developed by WayForward, but it's by Last Dimension. Still looks fantastic, and that music during the trailer!
A Switch release would be cool, but I doubt I would double dip.
I am currently making a puzzle platformer game in Game Maker and I agree it would be sweet. There are a ton of sweet games made with game maker and adding support would open up a ton of possibilities.
Did WayForward ever bring the new Shantae/Risky DLC to the WiiU or Switch?!? I was stoked about it but it first released on other platforms . . . and I haven't checked since....
@joey302 I don't really use twitter, but if you hear back from them, please let us know
@Fragarach lol yea soon as I get a chance to tweet them I will. 👍
The game trailer lists that it's coming to Ouya. Maybe the system is making a comeback?
@SaKo
Need some music for your games? I've been working with Logic Pro for 10 years. Would love nothing more than to have my music in a game.
I sincerely hope they can get that going. I'll never get enough WayForward.
@Gen0neD I'm not really working on anything big yet, just small stuff here and there, learning new things as I go. I happen to be looking for people to commission for background music though since music is the one thing I can't really do that well. Do you have any examples of music you've made?
@SaKo
Lemme get home and I'll see what I can dredge up
Well looks like it’s finally going to happen this year, but WayForward is no longer involved.
Andrew Bado, the developer (Last Dimension) announced Monday via Twitter that “If all goes well, look for #MystikBelle Enchanted Edition on Switch this October…“
Been waiting for this for 4 years 😅
